The more I learn about Walz, the more I like him. My choices are now Buttigieg, Walz, Beshear in that order. But I am leaning Walz for the VP pick and Buttigieg for Secretary of State in terms of what she will actually do.
I originally thought Buttigieg for SoS as well, but I'm not sure of Buttigieg has the political experience in foreign affairs for that. I've read a lot speculation that she might (and should) keep Blinken on. As much as I want Pete to have a front seat in this administration I'm not sure SoS is the best place for him. Yet, anyway.
Andy Beshear apparently has the highest favorability rating of any Democrat governor in the US? I forgot to grab the link to the article but it stated he has a 67% approval rating in the state. Would that do anything to swing Kentucky blue in the presidential election? Or would it still go republican?

I read something about this and the speculation was that having him on the ticket wouldn't put KY in play, but that he would have a decent shot at winning McConnell's Senate seat, should he run for it.

He is very popular, but the state legislature has a republican super majority so I doubt it would swing blue for the presidential election. I do think bc he (and his father before him) is so popular he would have a good chance at winning a senate seat.
Also he was at the Savannah Bananas game and another event Sunday here in Kentucky this weekend so if he went to DC to meet with Harris is was a quick trip.

I think they're going to be tight-lipped until tomorrow. We can hope though!
I hate-listened to Pod Save the other day and Dan (the most respectable one of the bunch right now) thinks they'll keep it pretty quiet until tomorrow.
My top picks are still Walz, Kelly, and Pete (but I don't think it'll be Pete as much as I love him).
According to social media, Kelly had posted something on Sunday and then deleted it saying he wasn't picked. I never saw a screenshot of the deleted post, though, so I'm taking this as rumor/speculation.

H and I both have a lot of relatives in Kentucky and H told me the other day that even his one aunt likes Beshear and I was like DAMN. Because I did not see that coming. She is very religious and also probably a Trumpster (which seems like it would be an oxymoron, but here we are). I'll be honest, after hearing H's aunt likes him, I'm a little shocked it's not higher than 67%.

I never thought I'd be this vested in a VP pick, but here I am. It's so nice to be excited for the next 3 months instead of dreading what felt like an inevitable Trump regime.
If the road to the electoral college victory requires a PA win, I don’t see how she can pass on Shapiro.
Whatever secures her victory, I’m good with.
(But…yeah…astronaut! 😭😭😭)
Does it still? I have seen several things stating that she has many more paths to victory than Biden did.
I’m also reading she has more roads to Victory than just PA. I worry that Shapiro’s stance on Israel and his support of school vouchers will hurt…and might reduce the paths to victory. I think a lot of younger voters are waiting to be enthusiastic with their support until they know her VP pick. I don’t think Shapiro will excite the young people like Walt or Kelly.

Playing around with the interactive map at 538, without PA she'd need Ohio, Iowa, North Carolina, or an even less likely state. (All of those assume she also gets AZ, whereas she doesn't need AZ if she gets PA.)

As excited as I was for Hilary in 2016 I gave absolutely zero thought to her vp pick until she announced it.
erbearredheadbaker I got a link to sign up for the event a little while ago. I’m happy to pass it along if you’d like it!
I got in. :-)
I got an email, too, but it's not a ticket -- it's just to get an email when date/time is announced. Getting in will be first-come/first-serve.
I have to say, I'm really fucking annoyed by the logistics of this. I got email. Signed up. Got a 'RSVP, your slot is confirmed." I have an email that gives me an option to add it to my calendar or cancel my RSVP, and tells me additional details are forthcoming.
Then my cousin, who lives in PA, said she got a follow up email from Team Harris for PA asking her to fill out a Google form. I searched for anything similar (I'm in NJ). Nada. I emailed the event organizer. Nada.
The last I saw they are going to email people sometime this evening to confirm who is actually getting in, and the location.
Am I RSVP'd? Do I have a slot? WHY IS THIS SO CONFUSING?
