In not at all shocking news, rally attendees at coachella were stranded when there were no (or not enough?) return buses and had to walk hours to their cars. Reporting is all over the place as to how many and the reasons they weren't there. One guy interviewed said there were supposed to be 60, another 20. One blamed lack of fuel, another that trump hadn't paid the bill. Regardless fyre level shitshow.

I'm kind of shocked this wasn't bigger news given the last 2 assassination attempts..
Situational awareness: A 49-year-old man — arrested at a checkpoint near former President Trump's rally Saturday in Coachella, Calif. — was found with a shotgun, a loaded handgun, a high-capacity magazine, and fake press and VIP credentials, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

The Riverside County Sheriff, Chad Bianco, is extreme MAGA and is quoted as saying he believes they thwarted another assassination attempt. The Secret Service disagrees. I do find it interesting that he was let out on a $5k bail, I would think anyone who attempted a presidential assassination or had that in mind would warrant no bail or at least something in the millions. Also the man arrested is a pro-Trump sovereign citizen, so it's more likely that the cache of weapons and fake passports in his car are a usual thing for him, not arming himself for the rally specifically.

The follow up stories I read on the arrested guy indicate he was a vocal trump supporter, so maybe that's why it's not viewed as an assassination attempt?
Trump Cuts Off Questions and Bobs His Head to Music After Town Hall Is Interrupted It was a strange end to a Pennsylvania event that started with a Q&A and ended after Donald Trump fired up his campaign playlist.
As medical personnel responded to the first incident and the room grew tense, Mr. Trump asked his campaign staff to play a rendition of “Ave Maria.” Minutes later, after the person was removed on a stretcher, Ms. Noem tried to return to the question-and-answer session. But that effort stopped abruptly because a second person, a woman, also suddenly needed medical attention.
----- He bobbed his head through the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.,” his usual closing song. He swayed soberly to Rufus Wainwright’s version of “Hallelujah,” watched a Sinead O’Connor video, rocked along to Elvis, watched the crowd during “Rich Men North of Richmond” and then, finally, left the stage to shake hands on his way out during one last song.

The admittedly limited clips I have seen are WILD. He evidently took four questions (which he answered poorly; no shock there) and then swayed and bopped around for 39 minutes to all his favorite tunes.
He is so deeply unwell. The end game for the GOP is, of course, they get him in and yank him out, installing Vance, who is unlikable, but is young and will do everything the Project 2025 authors want.
I really think these last three weeks are going to be unlike anything we have ever seen in an election cycle.

I mean, omfg.
From WaPo:
“Those two people that went down are patriots, and we love them, and because of them we ended up with some good music, right?” he asked. “So play ‘YMCA!’ Go ahead. Let’s go nice and loud!”
“Here we go, everybody,” Noem interjected.
The crowd cheered and danced to the Village People song from the 1970s, which celebrates gay cruising culture. Noem put her hands up in the shape of a “Y.” As the song was ending, Trump mouthed the words, “Nobody’s leaving.”
“Nobody’s leaving. What’s going on? There’s nobody leaving. Keep going,” he said, as Rufus Wainwright’s version of “Hallelujah” played next. “All right, turn that music up! Turn that up. Great song!”
Watching clips from last night is like I’m in a twilight zone.
It makes me absolutely LIVID that the mainstream media is not talking about his cognitive status. Yes, he’s always been crazy, but this is SO FAR beyond what he was like in 2016. I was concerned by what I was seeing cognitively in 2016, but now I’m just flabbergasted. How is NO ONE stopping this? All politics and policies completely aside, he is legitimately unwell.
Joe Biden fumbles a debate and is showing some signs worthy of some concern for 4 years from now (IMO), and it’s all anyone in the media talked about 24/7 until he ended his campaign. But this guy is demonstrating full-on unquestionable cognitive decline and it’s crickets. Just Trump being Trump.

From Shannon Watts who I trust. The R pounced on any small error Biden made/any time he misspoke, any instance where his response time was deemed too long...but this is all ok?
When I read that article I was shocked. The whole thing is insane. Like no one said “we are ending the event early”? The playlist is bizarre. I like to think it is probably partially that no one wants him to play his music. But playing YMCA to close your events?

I read Heather Cox Richardson's post and thought that the 39 minutes was a typo and it was 39 seconds. No, it was literally 39 minutes. How could his supporters sit through that and think it was normal?

Steve Inskeep was talking to Gordon Sundland (fmr ambassador who testified against TFG) on npr this am and was actually fact checking him in real time.
All of the articles I'm seeing about the weird 39 minute swaying to music are saying that the "town hall" turned into an impromptu concert. How is that in any way accurate reporting?

Is anyone seeing the clips of him at the Economy thing in Chicago? It's nothing but incoherent rambling word salad (par for the course, obvs), but the moderator is checking him right and left and he's not taking it well. Lots of clips on Threads for those curious.

There should have been wall to wall coverage of WTF happened last night. Pure insanity. Oh and he was suppose to appear on cnbc today and he cancelled. His people probably put him in a straight jacket after last night. Can’t wait for snl
I think he was pissed when the 2 people fainted and it all of a sudden wasn't about him and rather than leave, he just did all of that.
