"Trump again defended his actions in the wake of the 2020 election and refused to say whether he would accept the 2024 election results and agree to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose.
He insisted there was a peaceful transfer of power after his 2020 loss, shrugging off the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol to halt certification of the election. Four participants died during the chaos and five police officers died afterward, some by suicide.
"It was love and peace and some people went to the Capitol and a lot of strange things happened there," Trump said."
It really was ridiculous to watch, and whoever the crowd was, they loved him. They were laughing and cheering. It felt scarier than his rally crowds to me for some reason that I can't quite articulate.

Agreed. They weren't red hat wearing yahoos. Composed business folks in suits sitting calmly in a theater cheering tariffs and the constant blatant insults by him of the interviewer, and not booing or otherwise reacting with disgust when 45 blatantly lied about January 6.

Guardian interviewed people who left a rally early. The Danish tourists cracked me up. I also had to laugh at the woman who had to leave early because her phone was dying, and she needed it to get into her tesla. It's that really the only way?

No. There is a card like a credit card you can use. DH and I each have one in our wallets in case our phone dies.
I figured there had to be a physical backup. So, this woman's an idiot for not having it. But we already knew she's an idiot because she's at a trump rally
Trump says Biden has been holding Israel back: "He's [Netanyahu] called me. I haven't spoken to him. I'm going to speak to him probably now," Trump said. "Biden is trying to hold him back….and he probably should be doing the opposite actually."
While I understand people’s strong aversion to voting for someone who supports a genocide, I hope that maybe this helps make it very clear that it’ll only get even worse under Trump. A vote for Harris is in effort to keep it from getting worse, not a sign that you think she’s doing great.. In January, we will have one of two people as President (well, 3, depending on how quickly Vance gets Trump out), and we NEED to keep this guy OUT.

How the FUCK is this not a violation of the Hatch Act? I know he’s not currently a civil service employee and his administration violated the Hatch Act the entire time he was president, but he is making things worse! I hate him so much.
ETA - if not the Hatch Act, why not the Logan Act? Where is Merrick Garland??

Trump speaks about the size of Arnold Palmer's genitalia at PA fundraiser. Just...wow. And nearly half the country thinks this is a reasonable option to lead our country? He also said Kamala was a "s--- Vice President." "You're Fired."
(ETA: Looks like UWR and I were both here for it. I was too busy being appalled and aghast and WTF-ing with my husband to post. My article is identical in verbiage to the AP article she posted so no need to click twice)
What will it take for the people who just think things were better 2016-2020 vs now, so they want to go back to realize that they’re not going back, either?? Trump is not the same person he was in 2016. Watch a few old videos and it’s glaringly obvious. He’s not the same. His platform isn’t the same. The people supporting him aren’t the same. His former cabinet members are warning people about him.
What will it take for them to see???
FWIW, I’m not talking about MAGA people. I’m talking about the people who say, “I can’t stand him, but I could afford my groceries in 2020, and now I can’t.”
I feel so helpless. And I have family that says this. Breaks my heart and infuriates me at the same time.

Can I be super snarky and say that apparently Trump is not a "real man" according to descriptions by Stormy Daniels? (And Eric's nickname in high school was "Choad.")

This is exactly how I feel. So many people saying "I can't vote for her" but can't articulate why they can't vote Kamala but can vote for Trump.

Oh they say it right there, they just can't fully admit it to themselves.

Yup - I had a coworker make a comment about having to decide between the lesser of two evils. Obviously it was work so I didn’t want to get into it but it’s like this is not the lesser of two evils. This is a woman who is experienced and competent with perhaps some viewpoints you don’t agree with and a sociopath mad man in a state of severe mental decline who will destroy the country and strip people of their rights…

And possibly die while in office (or be kicked out by his party due to dementia) and thus you get his even more horrific VP. I think this needs to be stated over and over - do you REALLY want Vance to become President, because it's very likely.

have you pointed out Trump wants astronomical tariffs that would make this last inflation look like pennies?

And kill small businesses.
I have a small business with one product. I tried to get it manufactured in the US, but quality was less and cost was 3x+ what I could get at an ethically produced (from my research & my broker who has been in the print industry for 40+ years) place in China. A 60% tariff is almost guaranteed to make it unsustainable for me to continue my business. If I could produce 100,000 at a time, it would have a little less impact because economy of scale of production…but it would still be a big hit.
Prices are *guaranteed* to go up. And people don’t realize it’s on stuff like food, too. We can’t just build a plant to make tomatoes in the US!

Combine that with the mass deportations. Even the stuff that is grown/produced here but have prices skyrocket- because who do you think it providing the low cost labor to pick things?! Spoiler alert, it’s largely immigrants.
