One more week until school starts...cannot come soon enough.
I turned off the internet on all devices except H's and mine today. DS hasn't noticed, DD is not handling it well. And hence the reason I turned it off...What I would give for a day of zero responsibilities and to be told to just read, create, relax, just enjoy life for a day.
First day of school over here! I'm excited to see all the students and get back in my routine. Also, I have my start of the year family engagement meeting with DS' teacher this afternoon and I'm looking forward to filling her in all on all things.

gerberdaisy, my son would probably die if I did that. My daughter would just shrug her shoulders and read a book LOL
My random is that I found out that while we were still living together but going through our divorce, exH was watching me on the cameras in the house all the time. Like, bordering on stalking. I disconnected all of the cameras when he moved out, but apparently he's just stalking me on social media now. He had the sense to create a fake account on TT, but on Sunday I saw that he viewed my stories on IG. I already have him blocked on FB but I guess it's time to block on IG as well.
I have a phone interview for a rescue dog in an hour and I'm nervous/excited. Its a 2 year old Shih Tzu mix and he sounds like he could be a really good fit for our family. Fingers crossed it works out!
lavenderblue, yikes - that's so creepy and invasive. I'm glad you're on top of things

I got a tire fixed last night at a local tire shop. They had a 4-5 month old kitten in the shop and I asked about her. She just showed up as a tiny kitten and the guys all voted that she could stay and that the pop machine profits would cover the cat food, vet and supplies. My heart totally melted.
If you work a fully remote job do you "get ready" every day?
I kind of like being forced into dressing for the office twice a week.
I put on clean lounge clothes in place of my pajamas. And I put deodorant and face lotion on. Some days if I'm presenting in a meeting I'll throw some blush and mascara on and wear my hair down. But that's the extent of my "getting ready" for my remote job.

I have pretty much the same morning routine no matter where I am other than dressing appropriately (I wear clothes, but more casual) and driving to work.

Sameover here. One week and I can’t wait! If I turned off the internet, I’m afraid my youngest would actually lose his mind. They are completely feral over here. I’ve lost my ability to parent. 13 weeks is too damn long for summer break.

When I worked fully from home I got dressed but in what I wear at home, so usually jeans and a t-shirt. Sometimes I'd spend some time in workout clothes if I worked out in the morning or at lunch and didn't shower right away.

I'm a SAHM, but I 'get ready' every day. I shower every morning because that wakes me up more than the coffee/tea that I drink and get dressed in work out clothes because I actually do work out almost every day after the kids leave for school, and then I wash up again and put on real clothes and minimal makeup. I don't 'do' my hair every day depending on how it looks post work out, but I often run a flat iron over the front pieces at least if I plan to leave the house at all.

I wfh 2 days a week and only make myself presentable if I know that I have to be on camera for meetings. Even when I was full-time wfh I did the same. One of the perks of wfh for me is NOT having to get dressed.

No way. I roll out of bed and drop DS off wearing sweats or shorts or whatever depending on season. I workout/shower sometime during the day so I'm more presentable at pickup, but still wearing athletic clothes and no makeup lol.
A mom friend at my kid's school told me that another mom was talking shit about my kid and I just don't know what to do with that. The answer is obviously nothing but I also feel very, "Keep my kid's name out of your mouth," about it.

Yes. I get dressed and put on makeup everyday. I am camera everyday, so that is a big part of it. I also drop my son off at school or pick him up from the bus, so I feel like I need to look presentable. I can dress pretty casually, but do need to look nice.

Definitely not. I should mention that I rarely have a need to be on camera, so I work in pajamas (leggings & a tee), no bra, no make-up, hair in a ponytail.
I don't wear makeup beyond tinted moisturizer and lip gloss or do elaborate things to my hair on most the days I *do* go into the office, so that's the same no matter where I am. At home I shower and change into clothes as usual but generally more comfy than I'd wear in the office. I'm wearing leggings and a tank top right now and will throw on a cardigan for any on camera meetings.
ssmjlm, I should add that I'm not on camera a ton. Or, if I am, people are pretty casual at my school. I will put on makeup/do my hair if I'm giving a big presentation or being observed or something.
If I’m WFH I workout in the mornings and usually don’t shower until lunch because I also walk on my walking pad while working in the AM. And then it’s usually athleisure for me.

Same here. I WFH Monday & Friday, and in the office Tuesday - Thursday. (Though we do have flexibility to WFH on office days if needed.)
hermione , WTH? We've had issues with kids talking about kids backs which is bad enough, but luckily not the parents.
Oh, it's absolutely weird. It's too much to even type out and is mostly about sports but suffice it to say her daughter, S, is the mean girl of the grade and the apple does not fall far from the tree. S has now realized she has no friends and isn't invited to anything. So this mom randomly said to my daughter, "Why does S have no friends? It's not fair." And my daughter responded, "Because she is mean and everyone is sick of it." And the mom did not like that.

Another really hot and humid day here, so hoping all the kids who are in schools without AC (that didn't close for the day) are doing ok.
I'm proud of myself for sticking to exercising 5 of 7 days a week for the last 3 weeks. Mostly I started because I have a 1-hour layover for an upcoming work trip in a few weeks, and I expect to need to run to my gate once I get through passport control and customs, but I also would just like to feel healthier. So far I have noticed small changes in how my clothes are fitting, so that has been a good motivator.

H does bc we walk the kid over to school and then he walks the dog. On my wfh days, I get in presentable clothes and then come back home to work out before getting cleaned up for the day.
A coworker has a bumper sticker (maybe from Penzeys) that used to say
Love People Cook them tasty food
Except the left side has faded a ton and now just says

Due to the excessive heat index warning DS1's cross country practice shifted to the AM, as in I had to drop him off by 545 am and they expect to do this the next 2 mornings. Fun!

Ha, this is the best workout motivation I've ever heard!

I work from home 2x a week and I don't wear makeup to work, so definitely don't do it for the camera (which I'm on as I'm a therapist). I am currently wearing a black t-shirt for work and can do the same at the office (along with a skirt or trousers - right now I'm wearing it with leggings). As I wear over the ear headphones, I tend to pull my hair back when I work from home. We have a reasonably casual environment at the office as we work with university students (so I can wear jeans if I want).

I can't with a mom asking a kid about her kid like that. Barring threat to health of life, why would you ever do that?!?!

When my kid told me, I was like, "Wait, she asked you what???" And then my kid said she didn't know if she should lie or not so she told the truth and asked if she was in trouble. And now the mom is apparently telling other people my kid sucks at sports. It's all so weird and so far I am choosing not to engage.
