I went to Costco and Trader Joes today, and found it infuriating how people looking for a parking spot will see someone loading up their car and then just stop and wait for their spot. This means whoever is behind them has to also stop and wait, or drive around them which isn't always easy to do without causing further jams or running into people walking. I get that it is hard to find a spot, but usually if you just keep driving you will find a spot somewhere so I don't get why people think this is necessary. Going to those places is already a miserable experience because everyone from the surrounding area goes to this particular complex, so my patience is already pretty thin when I'm there.
Yesssss, and when people do this in parking garages where anyone behind has no choice but to wait. Used to see this a ton at our Children's Museum where people would wait while someone loaded and buckled all their kids and put away their wagon/ginormous stroller and bags etc. It always felt like an eternity whereas they could have just driven up another floor or two and we'd all be parked and inside already.

If you have to go to Costco on the weekend, Arundel Mills is like heaven on earth.
DS was just singing “The Bar Song” and thought the lyrics were “Everybody at the bar’s eating fish sticks” instead of “Everybody at the bar’s getting tipsy.” This is the best thing since DD thought “Rock the Casbah” was “The sheep don’t lie, kid! Rock the cat box!”
And DD just asked if the “mom board” I’m on is “on like 4Chan or something,” which almost made me wet my pants as much as “Sshe might throw you like a dwarf”, above.
And I had an old fashioned with dinner which may explain why this is all so hilarious tonight. I really should drink more. It makes the world hilarious.
We just had a discussion about this song. DS (10) thought it was “everybody at the park in Tipsy” thinking that was the name of the town. I had to explain the concept of being “tipsy.” DH has been drinking a beer or two lately while he’s grilling, so DS asked if he’s getting tipsy. I said no, not at all, given your dad’s height & weight. 2 beers over several hours will not make him tipsy. Me, on the other hand…
Pretty sure the dog and I ran into a ghost on our walk last night. It was about 11pm. A good, misty, foggy night. She was sniffing around about to poop, and I just had that sensation that someone was right behind me. When I turned to look, Sandy jumped and lunged at nothing. And then started running home. So we did.
Last night I learned Joe Rogan hosted Fear Factor. In my teen years I really enjoyed that show and was telling H who was very oh no about it. I was all H, the host had hair it's totally someone else! Guys, Joe Rogan had hair back in the early 2000s.

He’s on one of my favorite shows, NewsRadio, hair and all. It’s tough to ignore who he is now, but the show is otherwise so great

This is why I was shocked that people were taking him seriously.
So, umm, maybe I do have a balance issue. I was just getting down the pruning saw, which was hanging on the wall in the garage, and I had to jam myself into the space between the snowblower, sawhorses , and the mop bucket. And I lost my balance and bit it into the saw horses onto the garage floor. This one bruised a bit more.
Also, can I use this as a reason to get rid of the fucking mop bucket? H has had it since his family owned a bakery in the 90s. And it’s one of those huge buckets, with wheels and a standing up wringer. He loves that fucking thing and will drag it out a couple times of year. But it’s so over kill for how often we mop and a residential setting. I’ve hated it for 20 years, from when he stored it behind the litter box in our 943 sq ft townhouse.

This is MH with a bunch of random shit. Golf clubs, he hasn't used them in at least 15 years...a commerative t-shirt that from some reason his parents framed for him. A lot of gifts we get that I know we will never use (#1 on this list was a tagine that he insisted we would use when I do 95% of cooking more complex than eggs...he refused to let me toss it for 5 years). The man doesn't accumulate much, but what he does, he gets attached to!

Honestly, it's worth considering. I can't tell you the last time I fell down. It's probably been years. I definitely bang into stuff and have near misses, but I am always able to catch myself. If you are finding you fall frequently you may want to think on it further so you don't truly hurt yourself one of those times!
I vote get rid of the bucket! We just have a Swiffer.
Speaking of cleaning, I am seriously considering getting rid of our cleaners. The recent thread about hiring someone a couple of hours a month to do deep cleaning tasks really spoke to me - I don't think our regular cleaners do that stuff much (if at all) and it's not really that hard for me to keep up with basic cleaning on my own, when I'm home most days and we don't have kids so its not that dirty anyway. My H really doesn't have bandwidth to pick up more housework, but I think I could easily spend like 15 minutes a day to keep the same level of cleanliness we have right now with cleaners. And then put that $260 a month toward something else. Idk. It's been such a luxury to have cleaners!
I have complained many times here about my BIL, his parenting (overly controlling and inconsistent), and how he absolutely drives me and MH crazy whenever we are together (we do not live nearby).
BIL reached out to MH and asked him if we wanted a joint family vacation to a destination that is 100% on our list. I would LOVE to do the trip with my family/niece/nephew/SIL, but MH and I are a hard no on going away with BIL. It is hard for us to endure his complaining, inflexibility, and impatience for an afternoon--I couldn't imagine how messy it would get on a joint vacation.
MH was scrambling for an excuse and I reminded him that "no" was a complete sentence. MH finally landed on "that won't work for us," which seems to have shut down the conversation for now. It's the right call, but I'm still sad that we don't have a family where we could do that sort of trip.
My older dog has allergies and she definitely struggles more during open-window weather. She was noticeably uncomfortable overnight and keeping me up, so I decided to deep clean the upstairs this morning. I had my robot vac mop upstairs for the first time, which worked well, but I had to bring it back to the base station on the first floor repeatedly to wash its pads. I got an unexpected work out. The bedroom air purifier tracked a big dip in air quality while I cleaned. All I have left to do is finish laundering the bedding and we should have a squeaky clean bedroom tonight!
rubytue toss the mop bucket and replace it with a robot! Also, I'm not sure I've gone 6 months in my life without falling over. I'm fantastic at tripping over my own feet.

I'm sad those kind of trips don't work for my autistic adhd kid. Next summer my extended family is going to the OR coast (my favorite). It's a 7 hour drive for my kid who may or may not be able to use his current car sick meds by next summer AND he can barely last 48-72 hours away from home so that's too much car time for 2-3 days of time away.

Lordy I want to. I brought it up (telling H I was here to pick a fight over the mop bucket). He said he uses it to clean the basement. Which, was before I last used the snowblower he hates. I reminded him that he is essential, so he hasn’t shoveled snow in 10 years. And given I’m having trouble keeping upright this weekend, perhaps a snowblower is good for 50 year old me.
It ended in a stalemate. But I learned that apparently the mop bucket is balanced on the lawnmower. So one can roll the, both out to get to the wall.

I’m shopping a bit at Wayfair. I picked out new side tables for our bedroom, and DH likes them too. I have 20 mins before DS and I are done with our break. Lol. I plan on purging and reorganizing the main floor (kitchen, dining room, living room). And then deep cleaning those. It’ll be good when it’s done.

Shhhhh, stop sharing this secret! Need to keep it empty so it’s tolerable, unlike that ‘other’ location!

If he uses it in the basement, why doesn't it live in the basement? That would drive me crazy, but I also realize that isn't the point.

Track and field people - what does DS need to have? I’m thinking decent shows and comfy shorts, then comfy pants. Anything else? I mean, water is included too. Lol

is he doing XC? Shoes are obviously the most important - he should go to a running store to get properly fitted for running shoes. DS1 does XC, indoor track and outdoor track so we replace every 3 months or so. He also uses spikes for meets but ask the coach what they think for that. Good all weather running gear - here they practice every day regardless of weather. So he trains in everything from pouring rain to below zero and ice, to heatwaves. The most important thing I own for him is a shoe/glove dryer

XC is a spring sport, so just track and field now. So, track running.
Thanks, I’ll add under garments and fouler weather gear.

. Ah! I only know XC as a fall sport! The training for DS1 is the same for all 3 seasons. He’s a distance track runner (so 1 and 2 miler) so runs on average 8 miles a day in whatever the weather is. So gear for any eventuality. The school gives a reflective vest to a member of each running group since they run in the dark a lot. If your school doesn’t provide that I would also look into getting one

Tomorrow is the first day of school for DS1 and DS2, the first day of daycare ever for DS3, and DS1’s birthday. 😅😅
7:15 wake up for DS1 and 7:35 wakeup for DS2 and DS3. None of us have gotten out of bed before 8am since summer began and that 6:50 alarm for me is gonna suck tmr. At least I’m finally nearly over my jet lag.

this sounds so much like my H it's downright scary 🙃 Lord, I love him and I am also ready to shank him.
This week is fair week for ds. Weigh in for his animals is Wednesday and 4 of his chickens are close to being over. Cross all the things that they all make weight!
H is on the fair board and we sponsor the beer garden so we have a lot going on between those things and animal prep/care. I'm preemptively tire and I can't wait for it to be over! Lol

Anyone ever feel like anytime you try to do something fun for your kid(s), it just doesn’t go right? This LDW was tough with a kid as active as DD still laid up when she’d normally have a soccer tournament. I planned for the 2 of us to go on a whale watch today, an hour away. She often gets carsick on longer rides and today was no exception on the ride there. I guess I should have thought about how that would translate to a boat ride, though she hasn’t gotten sick on ferry boats or recreational boats. She was fine on the way out, but once we stopped to see some whale action the rocking got to her and she started getting sick. The ride back was more rough and she puked a total of 4 times.
We went out to lunch on the water after that and she felt fine but was just cranky and complaining about the ride home ahead. Ugh. She does say she had fun though. It just felt like a lot of work (and money) for not the return I’d hoped for I guess.

I had a blast at GhanaFest last night! I ate like a king and did way too much browsing and shopping!
Today starts my week staying with my Gram and my uncle texted me earlier asking if instead of staying every other week, if I had any interest in staying 3 days a week (Sun night - Wed evening) every week instead. He’s spoken to two of my other uncles and that schedule makes more sense with doctors appointments, grocery deliveries, her Rx routines etc… And they agreed that they would start compensating me as though it was a part time job.
I can’t see a downside but I feel kind of icky accepting money for a family member’s care. My mom says I’m overthinking it and maybe she’s right.
Well, aside from landing on my ass twice this weekend, I’ve gotten so many sewing projects done. We are going to Renn faire next weekend, and I’ve been on a mission to get our group clothed. I’m providing the garb for 3 + me and H for our group of.7 lol
I even made a rain cape. That was a bonus project today. But the forecast is 50% chance of rain.
