Iâm throwing a bday party for my 9 year old. 10 mins till everyone arrives and finally able to sit for a minute. Throwing parties is honestly exhausting. Thank goodness for my older two kids who set up the tent and table cloth and cooler and decorations while I picked up the food and cake. Especially the week back to school UGH it just didnât work out earlier.
Do you throw your little kids parties and do you feel itâs also exhausting?
I am not a natural party person and kidsâ parties especially are way too stimulating so Iâm just glad when theyâre over!
My husband and I were picking up some snacks last night when he complimented the woman checking out in front of us on her Chucks. He told me afterward he didnât even mean anything by it; he just liked the color. She smiled and asked, So you understand the assignment? And my H replied yes. And then we all smiled and nodded together. I was pretty happy afterward, realizing that even if Kamala loses, weâre all going to support each other and make it through whatever comes next.

Finally feeling better post-Covid so went to the market this morning and then met a friend visiting from OOT for lunch at a good Vietnamese place. I think H and I are going to buy our mums this afternoon.
Then Iâm hoping to just chill on my patio and read.

Yes, itâs exhausting and gives me anxiety. I hope the party went well!
I ran 17 miles this morning and now Iâm completely spent. Weâre picking up our new dog tomorrow and Iâm super excited with a dash of nervous. Weâve never had a dog so itâs uncharted territory. The kids are SO excited.

We went to Greenday last night. It was a great show, but damn Billie Joe we are old stop playing FFS. GD played 2.5 hours. Smashing Pumpkins were great too. We didnât get home until 2:30 and I feel hungover. I didnât even drink.
I went to prenatal yoga, and the class was not good (substitute teacher).
Instead of feeling uplifted by the community, I was like âwow look at all these bitches who donât have reflux and can do down dog.â âWow look at their cute yoga outfits instead of oversized sweatpants and an ill-fitting bra.â

As someone who hasn't lived in the US for 20 years, I had to stop and really think about the title of the post and what LD stood for. LOL.
H is doing better - he was able to read the paperwork he was sent from his job and start doing some CV stuff in preparation for trying to find a new job. He is recognising his own insecurity around not making money and trying to calm himself down (especially as he'll get paid a good amount for his redundancy package and I make enough to pay our immediate bills plus we have a good amount of savings (yes, we are VERY fortunate). He's spent a good portion of the day making bread and cooking dinner (dal).
I've done some work on my accreditation, walked the dog twice and enjoyed reading and watching stuff online. Can't wait to eat the dal and rice!
Tomorrow, we'll walk the dog, go to the farmer's market and possibly do some grilling as it's meant to be nice out.

DH is out of town until Monday afternoon. Iâm so sad. đđ¤Ł
DD is going to a bday party soon, and DS and I are going to do house chores. I want to purge and pack because construction will start (again!!) in a few weeks. Plus Iâm tired of so much crap. Lol. Heâs asked for robux, and I know heâll work hard to make that happen. The absolute bonus is that Iâll get a lot accomplished in the house, and then heâll basically be silent playing games for the evening. So much bliss!!
I still need to do some food prep, so Iâll poke away at that later today or tomorrow.

I should not have left the house today, lol.
Oh, miss. Youâre too good to grind yourself down like this. Yoga pants are tight, sweatpants for lyfe. Also, comparison is the thief of joy. Maybe they have heartburn or felt terrible and wanted to just plow through because who even cares why. Youâre great. Youâre enough. Youâre ridiculous right now, but pregnancy is a mind fuck. (((hugs)))

Lol yes! It was such a good show (I went in DC) but it was quite a lot for us middle aged folks. And his relentless pushing to put your hands up and jump up and down. I don't know how he does it!

And the hey-oooooo. I was so over it by American Idiot. đ. Then poor Tre looked like he was about to die in the heat. He was struggling during Dookie. That album is so fast paced.
I went out for accidental brunch with my friend today. We intended to get lunch, but breakfast is served until 1pm. Chicken and waffles was a pleasant surprise though. I'm disappointed I couldn't get the appetizer I was excited about...
I just finished building Lego Jaws and need to find a home for it. The set is bigger than I thought it would be (both length and height). It was fun to build and looks great, though.

Remember when I said having a teen was fun? Well I recant my opinion. DD woke up ready for a fight. Every conversation has been an argument. Itâs going to be a long ass day

â¤ď¸ thank you
I know I'm just having an extra cranky day, but the feelings are so real.
It doesn't help that I realized I outgrew all my bras this week. Again.

Oh, those days are SO MUCH FUN! Iâm wishing you (and her) the best of luck.
Sometimes I try to diffuse things, and it backfires spectacularly. But you can still sit on her. She may toss you like a dwarf, but #YOLO.

I am dragging a bit today. It's muggy but I may go for a run to shake myself out of the doldrums. DH wants to do a firepit hangout and/or teen movie night, so I sent invites to some friends for a low-key evening -- we'll see if anyone takes us up on it.
I really should go drop off some donations to free up room in my van--we're going to a Nats game tomorrow. DD1's employer has a suite for the game, and she's bringing a friend as a plus-one. Since we have to drive her anyway, I got tickets for me, DH and DD2 to go. We haven't been to a game in awhile, it'll be good.
We finally pulled the trigger on a tub, sinks and a toilet for our bathroom/bedroom reno. Now we get to move on to finalizing countertops, various trim pieces and the bedroom closet. Demo is supposed to start within the next two weeks. Every time I actually check out with a cart of stuff I've had going for weeks or months, it feels like a small weight lifts ... until I start thinking about the decisions that are left. FWP, I know, but I'm just so tired of thinking about whether we should only re-paint the WC or do an accent wall of wallpaper, or wallpaper the whole little space? Which necessitates going down a wallpaper rabbit hole. What colors we're going to paint -- a whole different rabbit hole. DH and I disagree on the grout color for the shower floor ... I had no idea how many colors of grout there are. The decision fatigue is real.

My mom, DD and I went to the zoo today. It was fun but exhausting. I took a nap when we got home! I made a yummy meatloaf for dinner, and the kids are bugging me for screentime...
You know how as you get older, doctors ask you if youâve fallen in the past 6 months. I keep having to answer yes, but they are all ânormal accidents.â Like today, I was sewing, I stood up to grab somethin* off my pegboard, and apparently my rotation caused the chair to rotate. And then I sat back down without looking. So I sat into the backrest, which punched the chair back and I went all the way down.

More good things! The PTO was selling Savannah Bananas tickets and I snagged some for the end of next month. I've never been even though they're local so I'm looking forward to it.

H is at Dragon Con, so I am enjoying the silence. I've been to a lot of social events this month and am peopled out. I've been online, watched tv, read a book, and am deciding what to do next.
I interviewed for a job on my current team that was recently posted and has a title that matches a professional certification I completed in June. The job really wouldn't change much, but it would be a 30% raise and the title is far more impressive. I've been with the company for about a year and a half and have made several process improvements and am generally very well regarded. However, the senior director of the department is a little odd and she has been resistant to the changes I've made. Hopefully, the office politics won't go against me. Of course I'm going to obsess over this until I hear the results.
DS was just singing âThe Bar Songâ and thought the lyrics were âEverybody at the barâs eating fish sticksâ instead of âEverybody at the barâs getting tipsy.â This is the best thing since DD thought âRock the Casbahâ was âThe sheep donât lie, kid! Rock the cat box!â
And DD just asked if the âmom boardâ Iâm on is âon like 4Chan or something,â which almost made me wet my pants as much as âSshe might throw you like a dwarfâ, above.
And I had an old fashioned with dinner which may explain why this is all so hilarious tonight. I really should drink more. It makes the world hilarious.
I live in a very big city, so I get the feels whenever I have a âsmall townâ moment. Today I pulled up a stop light and the kidâs beloved elementary school music teacher was at the light going the opposite way. There were 3 separate cars that waved to her not including mine đ.
Iâve been feeling like Hâs secretary lately so I asked him to do one thing: contact the Electric, Water, and Power company because our water bill was outrageous this month and they sent us a mailer saying that we were using 5 times the amount of water as our neighbors. Weâve checked for leaks and think that itâs a meter reading error. Our bill was due 7 days ago and they are calling, emailing and mailing. Has H tried to correct the error? No. Iâm so frustrated that he doesnât prioritize these things. Heâs always swamped with work, and that is why I handle most things, but cmon.
I went to Costco and Trader Joes today, and found it infuriating how people looking for a parking spot will see someone loading up their car and then just stop and wait for their spot. This means whoever is behind them has to also stop and wait, or drive around them which isn't always easy to do without causing further jams or running into people walking. I get that it is hard to find a spot, but usually if you just keep driving you will find a spot somewhere so I don't get why people think this is necessary. Going to those places is already a miserable experience because everyone from the surrounding area goes to this particular complex, so my patience is already pretty thin when I'm there.

Cross country meet this AM was away and delayed 1.5 hours after we already arrived due to lightning/storms. DH and I got some walking in before the rains came. Luckily things cleared enough and they got both the girls' and boys' races in. Both our teams took 1st. It was a very hilly course, so fun to watch.
Came home and worked out and DH made waffles for the kids and we are just relaxing. Going to a waterpark tomorrow and a pool party Monday.
I sat outside the other night and did not feel that my legs were being eaten alive and now today they itch. I put anti itch stuff all over my legs and hope the bites are all gone in a few days.
rubytue A former doctor of mine that also rode bikes told me once that "crashing your mountain bike into a tree" doesn't count as an actual fall.......
