Due to DS(8) having tv or internet issues before H gets up in the mornings I'm learning about how to troubleshoot stuff while keeping DS calm so he doesn't go wake up H unnecessarily. Go me!
Most of my extended family went to a city 3.5 hours from us for a nephew's 6th birthday party. My oldest sister and my family stayed home. I'm not sure what I'm doing today apart from grocery shopping and picking up books at my library. I told my sister we should hang out if she has a few free hours so maybe that will happen.
I’m trying to get motivated to go to the gym. I’m dressed, just pretty much need to stand up, find my keys, and head out. My problem is I don’t want to wash my hair (when I get home). I might should just cut it off, as it’s gotten so long it’s a pain to wash and keep moisturized well enough to not tangle from a side eye and the ends don’t look like crap. I try to get to the gym when it opens, which is 11 and 15 minutes from now. I will be late. Ok, get up ruby.
World Market finally opening up near-ish us is the best. I’m eating some delicious Happy Lemonade Haribo right now and I already want to go back and get more! They are oddly refreshing!
The weather is supposed beautiful this weekend and I’m hoping to squeeze in the beach at some point. We really didn’t get to do many fun summer things this year so I feel like I need to cram stuff in before it gets cold.

My kids are such teens now. DD1 drove herself to work and then is meeting up with a friend after work to go HoCo dress shopping. DD2 has to be on the bus for a XC meet in about 20 minutes, and she'll be gone until late.
DH and I are debating paint colors and I ordered a bunch of sample stickers. We have a work crew here today in the main bathroom and they put the new tub and tub filler in place so that we could finalize the positioning and then they can work on the plumbing. OMG, this project is finally starting to feel real--seeing the things we picked in the space, even if they're not actually installed, is exciting.
cville I have no idea how I took so many hand written notes in college. I can barely get through writing notes during a meeting these days.
Fruit fly season is here and it’s awful. Every year it comes and every year I complain. I’m going to try one of those zevo things today. The ACV works, but I’m over changing it out daily.

World Market is on our agenda today! We need some new art to fill out the area above our new couch. Plus, snacks, of course.
DD has no off button today and we're butting heads. Which is why I'm at DS' karate class with a book.

DS had his first soccer game today. It was...not great. He was totally spaced out and not paying attention. He refused to go after the ball. Sigh. We'll try again Thursday.

H and I went out last night. It was nice to be able to talk and chat with other adults. I’m ready to get back to work. Talking to the cat all day is getting old.
My brother is bringing DD’s car back. He did some minor maintenance and work to get it road ready. She offered to take us all to dinner as a thank you. She offered to put $100 toward dinner. I am not turning it down!
H is headed to Dreamforce. Tomorrow is getting ready for him to leave.

That's totally normal when they start! I think our boys are close in age-- focus comes with time. 3 weeks from now you'll see some progress. Or not 😂
I think at this age (esp in scrimmage) if the ball isn't directly at their feet, they lose interest quick.
I’m flying to my mom’s today for a week. I try to use one of my remote weeks each year to do this. I don’t use any PTO time, but she gets a full week of time with me which she loves. It’s kind of hard being under the microscope of attention of an only child of a single parent for a full week, but I’ll survive lol
I was due for a haircut Sunday, but wasn’t feeling well so I’ve postponed it until after I get back. But I trimmed my bangs today and think I did a pretty decent job.

"Mommy, they won't let me have the ball!". You have to get it, child! That's the point of the game!
Followed by "Can we just skip to the part where we have the snacks?"
If nothing else, it was cute to watch but my boy won't be playing in the world cup lol.
For the second weekend I saw someone shop lift. Just out in the open.
Last week was a guy trying to take out a full cart.
Today a woman went into the target dressing room and came out with all the clothes bundled under her shirt. They don’t have anyone watching the dressing rooms though.
It's only 1pm here and we've already been to DS's early morning soccer game (that he couldn't play in due to still having a cast on his arm, but there anyway because good sportsmanship and shit), and spent a few hours at a local colonial market and fair with my mom in the sun/heat. I'm hanging out on the couch and chugging water, trying to hype myself up to get going on my weekend list.

At Costco a couple months ago I watched a couple bypass the registers and try to exit the store with a full cart. Store personnel were on them before they even made it to customer service.
On Wednesday I drove past a purse snatching in progress. The snatcher raced across the street and a Good Samaritan chased after him, dodging traffic, and then knocked him down with his shoulder. It was very dramatic.

We are on the way to a wedding. It should be fun. It’s been ages since we’ve been to a wedding. We are friends with the groom and he’s a big music person so there should be dancing. We are giving the cash gift on Venmo - set up just for the wedding.

I saw a lady wheel a cart with a large box of power tool - think a combo pack of 5 dewalt tools - into the bathroom. I was contemplating something right by the bathrooms, so there for awhile, and she came out with and empty basket. I have no idea where the tools went.
I did go the the gym and had a good workout. So good I did *have* to wash my hair. It was beyond dry shampoo.
I am writing postcards to voters. I signed up for 100.
My hand is cramping. I'm taking a break.
Now I know what it's like to be a celebrity constantly signing autographs. Thank God I am not famous. My hand couldn't take it.
Oh I’m waiting on mine! I signed up for 200 because that was the minimum and they haven’t arrived. I was hoping to spread them out across a few days but time is ticking!

I have a good friend who has a pretty severe tremor. We were watching a movie together and I pulled out a baby blanket I had recently started that is turning out smaller than I like for blankets, and mentioned that I didn’t know what I’d do with it bc of that. She really admired it and said she’d give it to her home health aide who’s having a baby in September. (It’s fine for a car seat, just probably small for a baby stretched out in a crib.) I just realized it’s September. Oops. *I should be able to finish it by Monday but I hope her aide is due later in the month!

They know they check your receipt at Costco, right? What a stupid place to try and shoplift.

Are you guys new? Handwrite one, then photocopy. Then just find the right weight black pen to write the greeting. Jeez.
I am in such a shitty mood today. I don’t really even have a good explanation for it, except that DS2 was on me as soon as I got out of bed and I really needed some quiet after spending the week at a giant conference. Plus my house is untidy and I hate that.
On the plus side, I went to my first CrossFit class in about 7 years this morning. I got through it and didn’t finish last, but my legs were shaking like a newborn baby deer learning to walk for like 30 minutes after. I am going to be so sore tomorrow. I liked the gym and people though. Seems like a good place. Just need to force myself to get into a good routine.
We have a dinner party at a friend’s this evening. I need to get myself out of my funk before we go.

When you signup for Postcards to voters you agree not to do this. People are more likely to read hand-written and ignore photocopied writing.
Your hand gets stronger the more that you do. I only sign up for 15 at a time but try to do it twice per week.
My older dog has been having a tough allergy season. It's warm today, so I gave her a bath. She is very unhappy about the bath, but I also haven't seen her scratch since, so I'm calling it a win.
I've been watching The Accident on Netflix, which really would be better titled as "toxic masculinity ruins lives". I don't recommend it.

They work very well. At least they did on my fungus gnat problem (potted plants). One of the restaurants I worked at used the same thing just industrial sized to keep the flies down.

Somewhat related, I learned at a nonprofit training last week that people are 9% more likely to open an envelope if the stamp is at least a little crooked - they think a human handled it. So for the letters, maybe try that, too! 😆
