someone hiding in the bushes of his golf course - his personal space in some ways and where he retreats from the rigors of campaigning - must feel incredibly invasive and threatening. Another person might ask themself if it’s worth it.

Another person, but not a Narcissist.
Hell, he'd probably love to die this way and be a martyr for eternity. ::vomit::
I hope this rattles him enough to drop out. I fully believe he has PTSD from the first attempt.
I guess it comes down to what rattles him more, an assassin’s bullet or his end of life in prison.
I saw someone (maybe here but I don’t think so) say, he isn’t running to be president, he is running to stay out of prison. It’s very true. He isn’t going to drop out. He might stop campaigning and doing public events but he already has enough of a following that he doesn’t really NEED to do that anyway.

Correct. He is going to continue his public events to feed his ego and need for accolades. It stopped being about campaigning a while ago, as demonstrated by where he goes and how often. He travels very comfortably and with people to serve his whims. It’s always been about staying out of jail. He’ll never stop running for president. It serves his legal needs too well.
It’s ironic that he wouldn’t have to run to get elected to stay out of jail if he did the most basic things of not being a criminal after loosing the election and after leaving office. It’s all self inflected. There is even a case that the staff around him could have prevented his very real legal trouble/prison fear if they had the slightest backbone and didn’t do the illegal stuff at his urging. There is a reason Bill Barr quit. Trump wasn’t carrying all of those boxes to his plane and into his house and into the bathroom himself.

I don't think either of these things bother him. He truly thinks he will never be assassinated. The very minor damage from the first attempt only reinforces this belief. He also doesn't believe he will ever actually go to prison because he hasn't done anything wrong, the law is wrong.
Something might rattle him. It's probably something mundane like getting bitten by a mosquito or tripping on an extension cord.

How are they saying it was an attempt? Circumstances are suspicious as hell, and he definitely should be brought up on all gun charges. Is there some legal definition that it's an attempt even if no shots are fired like the difference between assault and battery? Attempt meaning something like means, motive, and opportunity? I just have l&o degree.
Since I don't think anyone should have those guns, I have no problem enforcing the very few laws restricting them.

I haven’t heard for sure, but I wonder if his social media or interviews with him or associates is pointing to motive. I keep going back and forth on this, but if he went to the golf course with a distinct plan to carry out an assassination, and was stopped before firing a shot, I would definitely consider that a “thwarted attempt.” If he had gotten a shot off I would consider it an “attempt.” I definitely feel like Trump is playing up “the attempt on his life” but he’s also been shot at and now this, so, I dunno, I guess I can understand why one might do that.

I mean, the really creepy part is that this was not a scheduled event. This guy just showed up and camped out for 12 hours hoping Trump would decide to go out on the golf course. How does the Secret Service even plan for this type of thing? They can't be everywhere that a candidate might possibly go in the upcoming few hours. I feel like the Secret Service is largely planning to thwart foreign assassins but the real danger is the domestic terrorist types.

How? Easily. They just say it. “Shots fired” was immediately being put out by his people ahead of who and why. It makes good click bait for the media, and here we are. It’s a great narrative for Trump - “we are under attack” is his whole shtick.
The cat is alive and well. JD Vance & his office knew it on 9/9. It didn’t stop Trump from saying “they are eating the pets” on camera at the debate on 9/10 when he was being beaten badly by Harris. Pure racism. More of - we are under attack from people who eat our pets means people who are different from us, a danger to us. Vance admitted making up the story as some flex to get attention on the immigration issue. It caused bomb threats, school closings, and cancelled community events. They don’t care they lied. The lie serves them. Pure racism as they slip in the polls. Yesterday, Trump’s campaign said, they SAID they will continue to call the Haitian “illegal immigrants” even though they are very legal with documentation and legal standing to be here. It’s a lie but the lie serves them well.

I'm confused here: "The note, addressed “Dear World”, was placed in a box that was dropped at the home of an unidentified person who contacted law enforcement officials after last Sunday’s arrest. It appears to have been based on the premise that the assassination attempt would ultimately be unsuccessful."

So the shooter left a note before the attempt saying that the attempt would be unsuccessful? Was he just trying to get caught for whatever reason?
The top section has a line that says the package was delivered "before his arrest" not necessarily before the attempt. How long was it between when he was pursued and when he was actually arrested?
Ok this makes it even more confusing (from the same article, I had to scroll to find this)
In a court document submitted today, prosecutors said Ryan Wesley Routh dropped off a box at a witness’s house months prior to making his attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
After learning of Routh’s arrest, the unnamed witness opened the box and contacted law enforcement. Prosecutors say the box contained “ammunition, a metal pipe, miscellaneous building materials, tools, four phones, and various letters.”
One letter was addressed to “The World” and read, in part:
This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job.
He [the former President] ended relations with Iran like a child and now the Middle East has unraveled.
Which makes it sound like he expected to fail, but also to live to hand out the bounty? wtf.

Yeah the whole thing reads like he was playing out some sort of action-move fantasy. "Only open in the event of my arrest" sort of thing.

this makes me wonder if he intended to fail? like maybe he wanted to make headlines but not actually kill anyone. some people crave notoriety. these people shouldn't have guns.
