Yesterday I received three things in the mail that are either wrong or require me to follow up by phone. I feel like post-lockdown nothing is working anymore.
If you weren't already, you are going to be one hell of a parallel parker. I had a similar situation in a TH I owned before this house, complicated by the narrow-to-control-traffic roads. Upside is that I can truly park anywhere, but it was so annoying in the moment.

Same for me, but college and living on a one way street. I can parallel park on either side of the road on a hill at night in the rain. /hairtoss
mainelyfoolish I use a sleep apnea night guard for my mild sleep apnea. Insurance also won't cover that one time expense. I'm sure this night guard will last 5-10 years easily so it's ridiculous that they'll pay $$$$ per year for a CPAP, but not this.
bbdoll The first time I had covid it was rough. I tested positive for 13 days and was easily exhausted for a month. It's a good reminder that covid isn't a cold. Sorry you're still struggling.

Working from home during a major renovation definitely falls under the "annoying" umbrella. The noise, the dust (OMG, the dust!), people going in and out ... I feel like I can't totally relax or do my usual talking to myself/the dog or sing out loud. I can tell my dog is bummed, too, because she is used to having the run of the house and instead she has to be cooped up in whatever room I'm using. Cocoa can & does open all the internal doors in our house, so DH made a special sliding barrier in order to keep her in the kitchen--it's week two and she is so over it.

litebright ugh that is the worst. I hope this time goes faster than expected. Years ago after I had DS2 I was maybe a week pp when a project crew who should have started our reno 6 months earlier arrived. I was holed up in our basement trying to work out bfing issues in a house with men I did not know and oh yeah they were fixing tile and had to use what sounded like a jackhammer...for days. The men were all super nice, but ugh it sucked.
My kid says there is some dance convention the studio does, but the studio hasn't sent any paperwork. I was able to google and find it because she says we need to get a hotel room and the hotel link says it's fully booked. But ironically, the convention isn't even at the hotel, this is just the hotel they worked a deal with. I guess I will be calling to see what is up. The hotel has rooms, but they're way more than the group rate.
So apparently the hotel block is already sold out? But they see a lot of cancellations so just keep checking?
Why not increase the block or call the hotel and see what they can do? The hotel isn't sold out.

I finally have two new hires to fill the roles that were opened for months so I feel like I can breathe a little bit and actually begin to learn my new supervisor job. However, two of my other case managers are both out on vacation this week, so I'm back to filling in for their roles while they are gone. I feel like I'm never going to be able to learn my job.

I'm definitely no rookie at parallel parking but for once I would just like to gliiiide into my spot lol.
DH's doctor ordered a routine echocardiogram at his annual physical. The week before the appointment, he received an estimated bill of like $2k in the mail. He had a high deductible plan and wasn't close to the deductible so I told him to get on the UHC website and find a place with a cheaper estimated cost under his plan. He did that, found a place where it was supposed to be 10% of the initial place, scheduled it, and had it done. He's fine. Totally normal results.
Insurance billed him $2k for the new place. He appealed, but they denied the appeal. I hate American healthcare SO much.

Welcome to the world of dance conventions. It is beyond irritating. After the first year, I learned to go ahead and check the convention websites frequently for the block to be posted then book for the entire time immediately. Once we had our schedule, I could call and cancel the nights we didn't need. It sucks for everyone and is a terrible way for them to handle it but it seems to be pretty standard. In our case, the convention we attended each year was actually at the hotel so it really made things easier. For nationals and whatnot, we never stayed at the host hotel since there wasn't much benefit.

Her studio just said something last night about the hotel. Communication is zero if not coming from my kid.
Honestly we can probably stay for free at a condo in the city, but I don't know what the rest of the people that want to go to this thing are doing. I wish the studio had given us the info. I have status at other hotel brands from work and this is just a basic marriott, not even free breakfast.
The constant is it ragweed allergies? a cold? covid? we always go through in the fall with the kids back in school. DS sounded terrible yesterday with a cough, but no fever, pretty energetic, and generally less gross this morning so we kept an ADHD med check app, and the doc didn't seem to think it was anything other than allergies. DD on the other hand is maybe a little congested and no fever either, but actually looks like she's sick with the wan, glassy look to her.
I don't mind keeping kids home sick when it's called for, but it would be nice if it was an easy call to make.
New job is all Google platform based. I've been getting the runaround on getting my initial password changed just in case I get logged out. I've just been logged out and I'm dreading talking to the same IT that's been giving me the runaround.

FI just ordered a $100 part for a piece of equipment that costs $300 and he plans to replace in 2-3 months. No sir, cancel that order and just get the new piece of equipment and save the $100.
My H resigned last month. His new job has incredible (state) insurance benefits for our family, but they do not kick in for 2 months. So for 2 months we are on my work insurance. I have to update all the doctors and pharmacies, school, after school, etc, with the new card info, then do it again in November.
This is ridiculous in that I'm being ridiculous about it, it's just a small annoyance that has built over time. Each condo in my complex has a garage and one deeded spot outside. The spots are all parallel with the Unit letter stamped on it. I am Unit I. To my left in Unit H is an older couple and right after I moved here in late June, the husband was hospitalized and just came back from rehab last week. His car is parked in the space behind me and his wife uses the garage. To my right in Unit J is a single dude who parks his Tesla in his garage, and in his outdoor spot there's a pickup truck that has not moved once since I've lived here. I don't know if he just uses it in the winter or something. So neither car in the spots that sandwich mine have ever been gone since I've lived here. This means I have had to parallel park into my spot EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I come home. Every other car out here moves sometimes but no, not these two. There is never an opportunity for me to just pull into my spot! And yes, I could park in my garage but it's full of hockey nets and shit right now, but I'll probably start using it in the colder weather.
Mine is very similar. Dh just bought a Tesla, but we're keeping his old car (2017 Honda Civic) for ds to use this summer when he gets his license. We have a 3 car garage, 1 single door and 1 double door separated by a bit of brick. Dh parks in the single spot, and I park in the double spot and then we had been using the 3rd spot for storage since we don't have a shed. We have big Christmas decorations there, a huge snow blower, a night stand I bought cheap when I thought I was going to refinish furniture but then never did anything with, a bunch of leftover paint and other house materials, and the kids often park their bikes there because they can't get them on/off the ceiling hooks themselves. We've been trying to clean out that spot so we can pull the Civic in, but I truly don't know where we're going to put the snowblower. So for now, the Civic is parked on the driveway behind the garage door. I can pull out behind it, but I have to be super careful pulling out and take my time to make sure I don't hit the brick wall with my mirror or hit the car once I'm clear of the garage. The way our garage is set up, I have to pull in at an angle, so it's not just straight pulling out. And I pull in/out of the garage A LOT, often 8 times a day between all the kid running around I do. It's just annoying and not going to change any time soon.
there’s a warning that if they suspect you are lying they may periodically ask for proof.
By forcing the patient outside and Google Streetviewing the given address? I mean, how else?
I understand why they have to "require" such ridiculousness, but both sides should just agree to look the other way.
I’ve changed some of the specifics of the scenario to protect the guilty party but essentially they could ask for them to send a photo with a street sign or unique landmark right after the call. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous too and this provider is going beyond what they need to for their license protection. It would be better for the Dr. to not to “catch” someone lying. I truly doubt they ever ask for proof and it’s probably an empty threat. However my friend was too worried they’d get caught and be banned from being a patient, then be SOL for getting the care they need that is already difficult to find.

Our annual convention is at Kalahari. It's all day Sat. and Sun., so if you arrive late Friday or sat. morning and leave Sun., the dancers have no time to use the water park even if you get to for staying there. So now it's expected that dancers will miss school Friday and come early to have time to use the water park. And we used to get a discounted block, but they stopped doing that last year so we just pay regular prices. It's also my birthday weekend each year. Oh, and now that I don't want ds (who is in high school) missing school, I just take DD alone and dh and ds stay home, so now I also get to hear ds complain about how DD gets to go to Kalahari without him.
shauni27 , right??? I'm like, just send me the check, I'll hold it for him. LOL.
Is there any chance he thinks it's a scam/not for real? I honestly can't imagine any other reason for someone not responding when they are told they are being given money!

Our old studio had crappy communication, too. It is extremely frustrating. Once I got to know some of the other moms, we'd all keep an eye out on the convention websites and coordinate ourselves.
And thanks to this, I checked on ballet festival info and the host hotel is finally up so I went ahead and got our room booked for that so thank you!

Both ridiculous and annoying today are my DOGS. I WFH one day a week, today. I have my work setup in my attic level room and the dogs aren't allowed up here. BUT, when I start to talk on any call, Dunkin starts to whine and yelp. Now that the guy next door is home from rehab I REALLY don't want him to be disturbed by the dogs, so last week and this week I let them up during a call to shut them up. Dunkin wants to come up here so much because the cat eats here, so he charged right to the food and started eating it. The cat charged over and attacked him and they scuffled. I have my call on mute while I try to separate them. Now Benny, he just wants to sit by my feet but eventually he gets up and joins Dunkin who is frantically trying to paw pieces of cat food that slid under the couch. I walk over and Benny is rooting around the litterbox with his snout. I grab him and wipe all the cat litter off his nose. I clean the box so he doesn't eat any pee clumps or poop. Now they're wrestling, growling and rolling around the room. I give up.

Maybe I'm just cheap, but...
Our public elementary school has an optional 5th grade trip that costs $800+ per person. It's just over 48 hours long and requires 18 hours on a bus. Oh, and if you choose to attend as a parent, you might get the honor or chaperoning other kids, meaning I might be sharing a hotel room with children I don't know.

Oh! And also: we just got back from a very indulgent and over-the-top vacation, and I gained about 6 pounds in a week. This was not entirely surprising, even though I did a hard workout every single day, and just generally walked around more than usual.
Yesterday, H had the nerve to text me this: “Hey, Are you trying to prank me by adjusting the bathroom scale? Because it looks like I didn’t gain any weight at all on vacation!”
