Yesterday I took my dog in for a pre-spay appointment. The vet said I never came back for her boosters so we need to start 2 sets of vaccines all over again. Umm...I've never missed an appointment which means I never had a scheduled follow up. I own that I could have proactively asked if another appointment was needed (months ago when she got the first vaccines) but they've always scheduled the next required appointment right at check out. Now I need to pay an extra $180 to restart vaccines.
The vet wants the vaccines done before the spay, so I have to go back now for 1) the boosters, 2) the pre-spay appointment and bloodwork in order to even schedule the spay. Argggghhh
Also, after waiting 50 minutes in the waiting room, while other dogs and cats went in and out of their exam rooms, and my puppy sitting patiently taking it all in, I let go of her leash once in the exam room. She was initially jumpy and then squirmy during the shots. The vet said "oh you'll need to medicate her to calm her down before she comes in for bloodwork next time." I politely said "yes, she's definitely hyper right now, but we've also been waiting close to an hour while she just sat in one place"
Might be time to find a new vet?
Our vets have never had an issue with dogs moving around in the exam room. Obviously they need to be still while they are being examined or given treatment, but our vet has a tech with them who is happy to hold them. One time my pup was really freaked out and I had asked them to clip her nails while we were there (had gone to a groomer who couldn't get it, she has funky nails), and the vet and tech needed me to help them hold her, but they didn't make a big deal out of it.
Our vet also kept in place the Covid policy of waiting in your car and calling when you get there, and they send someone out to get your intake info and walk you directly in to the exam room when ready. At first I was like, why are they keeping this policy in place? But then I realized I very much appreciate not having to sit in a waiting room with my dogs and other animals and trying to keep them all calm/separate.
We put in an offer on a vacation home. The seller countered, and we accepted. Resigned the agreement on Monday evening. We’ve been waiting ever since for the seller to sign. They called our agent this afternoon and told her they got a higher offer waiving inspection. WE HAD A DEAL. We agreed to their counter offer!!!!! I’m so angry. I want to post this REA’s info all over the place about how shady he is.
I'm not sure if this is a state thing or not, but when we were house hunting, it was my understanding that if a seller backed out of a deal, they would forfeit the 'hand money' that was written into the contract. So they could do it, but there was a monetary consequence for them at least.

I was up at 6AM and grocery shopping at 7AM for my dad before needing to be at the rehab facility by 8:15 because my sister "is too busy". Too busy doing what is the big question. More like too lazy.

I did miss the booster window once because I had to go out of town last minute, and they made me restart. So that part sounds right. However, they were more than happy to give a shot during the neuter. That also sounds quite expense to "start." Does that mean you have to pay more for the 2nd?
I've spayed/neutered something like 10 cats in the last few years (foster and rescue), and they've never wanted pre-visit bloodwork. I honestly don't remember if I had to for my dog, so it may be different for cats.
Vet+ tech should be easily able to handle a squiggly puppy for what sounds like just a blood draw.
tommygirl03, realtors always say "don't put in a bid unless you really want the house because if it's accepted it's yours" (pending funding doesn't fall through or other things further down the line). Why is this not the same in your case? [ .
This situation is aggrevating, and may break various ethical guidelines for realtors (I don’t know their industry rules) but the contract side of this is pretty straight forward.
You can’t sell property without a written contract signed by both parties.
Here the buyer agent would have submitted a signed offer. If the seller has signed that, a contract would have been formed. Instead, the seller countered with a verbal response. The buyer’s agent prepped new written contract with the new terms which the buyer signed, but the seller never did.
The buyer could also have rescinded their offer up until the moment the seller signed the documents and similarly the seller isn’t bound until they sign.

My boss has been trying to get me a promotion since early June and my company keeps changing the rules. Including having all the VPs VOTE on it. WTF. LOL
Finally my boss was like "guys---you either do this or she walk across the street and finds someone who will". True.

So they didn’t sign the counter they sent you? That’s where your agent went wrong. If they didn’t sign it, they’re not bound to it. It sucks, but I doubt it violates anything officially.

My new boss started beginning of June. I have had 1 1:1 with him since (he canceled my series), and he doesn't come to any team meetings. No one knows what he does, at any level across the org (folks keep asking me).

I really like my job, I love my team, but goodness I swear nothing gets done unless I do it. Walked away for lunch, come back and I'm fixing issues. This isn't even a one time thing, but more frustrating that we talked about this specific issue earlier in the day!
The nighbor girl keeps talking crap about DD. It's been a year of this, and I alerted the school counselor and teacher last year. They literally have zero classes together and only ride the bus together (not the same seat). And she will not stop flapping her mouth. Let.it.go. There is zero reason for them to interact, and if they don't like each other then ignore each other.
She is going around telling everyone that DD bullied her even though she spent all of last year talking bad about DD, talking bad about everyone in the class- she assigned them all code names, and hiding her bracelet in DD's desk to try to get her in trouble. I'm sure DD is not perfectly innocent, but DD doesn't even know what she initially got mad about. She goes to all of DD's friends and tries to get them on her side. No one cares. I am so tired of the rumor spreading.

We were waiting for them to sign the updated agreement and they just…didn’t. And then came back with this other offer. Our agent can’t force them to sign. But we completed everything on our end immediately. It’s just shady and unethical. But apparently not illegal.

My boss came into my office and told me that the only reason he hasn't taught me the rest of the things I need to know is because it's heavy excel analysis. Which is what I do, and I told him that. I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but last week he told me he hadn't taught me stuff because I'm getting married and I'm in school getting my MBA, which I do on my own time. He did tell me today that he plans to retire at year end. So maybe there's hope? I'm casually looking for something else, but I do like the company as a whole.
Also, Bucky's ranch seasoned crackers have too much ranch, which I didn't even know was possible, but it's a crazy ranch flavor that ends up tasting bad.

I mean they should’ve signed their part before they even sent the counter to you. Then, when you signed, it would’ve been complete.
Our microwave door handle broke. It was an easy fix, but stupid on top everything else.
The cat didn't want to eat, especially not her Rx food, so we had to drop more money on meds for nausea and appetite stimulants. She's eating better today, but still not the Rx food she should be eating. She's acting like her asshole catself though (alert, mooching pets, wandering around under supervision, etc), so those are good signs.
A spider was crawling up my arm a little bit ago. :: Shudders ::

I’m just commiserating. My daughter also has a nemesis like this. Always spreading rumors, bullying, then playing the victim. It’s exhausting and no one can believe she would be so mean. It’s bizarre the fixation she has on my daughter, who largely does her best to ignore this person. I’ve tried all the ‘responsible’ parenting advice to my daughter and after years of this I’m honestly at the point of telling my kid to just tell this girl to fuck off.

Thanks. Yesterday, DD said all was fine and she wasn't talking about her, even though the day before DD said she was. I think DD is just doing her best to ignore her. The girl repeatedly tries to go up to DD's friends.
DD did actually tell her off last year (didn't say F-U) when the girl kept putting her bracelet in DD's desk. That is when I reached out to the teacher and said don't let them sit next to each other anymore which the teacher did not. I am the only one reaching out to the school, so the other girls mom must not be concerned. I do wonder what she tells her mom. I had to reach out to transportation and move her assigned bus seat because they were seated together.

My neighborhood has an active lawsuit going on about this. It’s absurd. The people whose house backs up to a tennis court, basketball court, soccer field park are suing the city because there is pickleball now. Dudes. You bought a house that is on a park. You’re going to beef with the 70 year olds out there for two hours in the morning? Come on.

They are doing construction on my street. They are replacing all of the sewer lines, which would have been nice for them to do 4 months ago before I had to pay $800 for a sewer back up, but I digress. I'm annoyed because it's an effing mess. There is so much dirt and mud everywhere. And then when it rains the coating of dirt on my (new) car then just gets all runny and gross. It's loud. They intermittently have the one end of my street blocked off. Oh, and yesterday, one of their pieces of equipment clearly hit my mailbox and knocked it crooked. My new mailbox that was just installed last year. I'm over it. And this project was only supposed to take 2 weeks and it's looking like it's going to be at least double that, and that doesn't even include repaving my neighborhood. I guess I should be glad that they are being proactive in replacing out dated system, but it's just such an inconvenience.
A 4:30pm meeting on a Friday. That isn’t even urgent.
I forget if it was you or wildrice (maybe both?) who said something along the lines of "how important is it? can it wait? Yes, then I'm going to focus on something else". That really stuck with me in a good way. I'm going to file this under "can it wait until Monday late morning?

I don’t think it was me, but I do subscribe to that. I did get out of it. I was like “Listen, this really just doesn’t work for me.” And I didn’t feel bad because it is the DEFINITION of “this meeting could’ve been an email” too.

This sounds like me. I'm very big on not dropping everything just because someone has asked you to do something, unless it's truly urgent. I'm also a hard no on a 4:30 on Friday meeting unless it's to prepare for something first thing on Monday morning (which it almost never would be). Boundaries around your personal time and sanity are so important! And you're the only one who knows everything on your plate so you're the only one who can appropriately prioritize what's actually most important to do right at this moment (provided that you know how to do your job well, I guess - some people may need more management).
Now if only my H would listen to my advice too, lol. I'm glad it's been helpful for you!

Me. I am the ridiculous and annoying thing in my life right now. I am a recovering 60-70 hr a week workaholic who got a handle on it during Covid. I actually full on changed jobs because I knew I would never stop if I stayed at my old job. The past few weeks have been utterly insane, and I’ve worked way more than I’m contracted to. I’m supposed to do 80 hrs over a 2 week period. My first boss here was great. When I asked what to do if I hit 80 hrs before the week was up, he said, “If it’s not for a client or urgent, you stop.” And I was like Scooby Doo, “Rrrruh?” But I’m two bosses removed from that boss. And I hit my 80 hours this pay period on Monday of this week. But I was at a conference. And I’ve been traveling so much that I’m struggling to stop working even now. And I am so flipping tired.
So my answer: Me. This is all me. Not my employer. Not my boss. Me.

Last night in the middle of the night, I rolled over and was fully woken up by sharp, intense pain in my tailbone as I rolled onto my back. I pressed on the area, and the pain was instant and super intense. It still hurt just as bad today. Luckily, it's fine to sit normally on things, I only hit the painful area if I'm on a hard-backed chair sitting all the way back, but I did not fall on my butt or injure my tailbone in any way that I am aware of, so where is this pain coming from???
School shooting threats are just insane and pathetic. There’s threats going around my area this week and I read possibly all over the US, targeting for specific schools on different days, but shows the same photo of a gun at a desk which just terrifies parents and so many are picking up their kids when alerted. One threat at one school even had a list of targeted students which is just terrifying. These threats HAVE to stop. And I wish there was an answer to make that happen and now!

a few years ago started getting really bad tailbone pain and I also have no idea how it happened. It started out annoying but eventually it was hard to stand up from sitting because it hurt so bad. I don't want to tell you how it was fixed 🙈 so I hope yours just goes away and is better! But my tailbone somehow bent to the side vs being straight down and once it was adjusted I felt instantly better.
