Yesterday, I helped a friend schedule 2 days in Disney Florida for her family of 3 (her DD just turned 8). It’s their 1st trip to Disney (as a family) and she’s staying locally with friends & got a great rate for the airfare. It’s been years since I’ve gone but we hit the parks a few years in a row while visiting grandparents. She is all sorted out with which parks to pick, which days, which type of tickets to purchase, and the lunch reservations.
You wouldn’t think planning 2 park days in WDW is ridiculous, but trust me, it is.

I'm being bad and responding before reading the responses.
Oh goodness pretty much everything, lol.
1. We had a flood last year and we're just getting around to putting in the new flooring. My DH *can* do it (aka he helped the contractor when we had the original flooring added pre-flood) so we decided to have my DH do it again. It's coming along, however it's going to probably take a month because he gets a few rows done then gets tired and stops. Works a shift, takes a day off, rinse, repeat. I've offered to help after work, but he's too tired by then to show me/assist me. I just pray it's all correct when it's all done because this stuff was expensive.
2. One of the newspapers I have sent to my dad can't have a separate billing and shipping address, so the paper comes to me, then I bring it to him when I see him. It's only once a week, but then he understandably complains when it's late. I've mailed it a couple of times, but it's just adding up so much I'm going to cancel all together. My dad doesn't have a computer anymore so a digital subscription isn't an option.
3. ADHD testing is annoying, expensive and needs to be regulated because it's an inconsistent racket.

I have a meeting this afternoon with a coworker to receive "feedback" on something I worked on. It turned out great but I'm positive this will be "feedback" on my responsiveness (or lack thereof) at certain moments in the project. The thing is, my lack of attention was caused at that time by a pretty devastating miscarriage and I frankly don't care that much that it made me less responsive to emails. The project turned out really well and I'm proud of it. But I've still got to sit through the "feedback" about how I need to respond to emails more quickly.

I am dealing with an older than dirt adversary who is being so incredibly difficult. We just had a virtual discovery conference and he is insisting on all of these things he is not entitled to. So now because we can't play together nicely in the sandbox the law secretary kicked us over to the judge for an in person conference to deal with us. Friday at 2 pm. Over an hour away. And my daughter who made her very competitive high school soccer team and who has been kicking butt has a game against their biggest rival (my high school's biggest rival too) an hour and a half away in the opposite direction at 4:30 pm. I'm so annoyed by him right now.

We just moved and R is in need of a well kid check among other things. We are waiting on medical records to be electronically sent from her old pedi to her new one.
Also ridiculous, the wait to get her school situation straightened out. SpecEd at her new district got her IEP early to mid August. I'm following up DAILY w her counselor to see if there's been any movement. R WANTS to go to school and this delay is causing tension headaches ... oy
litskispeciality and anyone else jumping through healthcare hoops...go to adhdonline.com and you'll have an Rx sent to your pharmacy in less than a week. For weight-loss meds, go to lavenderskyhealth.com to have affordable glp1 meds delivered to your door in less than a week. I'm done dealing with expensive, dismissive, traditional healthcare.

I’ve had so many expensive things happening lately.
I switched jobs in April, so don’t have any PTO or anything, and so I’ve had to take a lot of time off unpaid.
Now that the wedding is over and all of our expensive obligations are done, hopefully I can get caught back up. I was financially in a bad place for most of the summer.
I tested positive for Covid almost two weeks ago. I cannot get rid of this dry cough or the fatigue. It's taking everything I have to get through my work day. When will this let up?
same. Not so much fatigue, but the cough is so annoying. I have asthma and I've had to use my inhaler several times a day.
I work in HR and our benefits admin quit in July. Several of us on the team are piecing together open enrollment this year. We hired a consultant to help but she has taken total control and wants to do everything her way or whatever she thinks is best. She’ll ask for our opinion but then just decide to do it her way in the end. It’s really frustrating when we’re the actual employees here everyday and she’s in another state and doesn’t know our company or employees. To top it off, she literally sounds like Janice from Friends and we have multiple online meetings a week. I will be so happy when this is all over and I can go back to doing my actual job.

I tested positive 3 weeks ago and would say the fatigue is 90% resolved. Except I did a ton this weekend and I’m extra tired now
Our public elementary school has an optional 5th grade trip that costs $800+ per person. It's just over 48 hours long and requires 18 hours on a bus. Oh, and if you choose to attend as a parent, you might get the honor or chaperoning other kids, meaning I might be sharing a hotel room with children I don't know.
my old public elementary school's 8th grade class trip this year is to the Galapagos Islands. The kids have been fundraising for this since they were in 5th grade. It is ridiculous.
Oh! And also: we just got back from a very indulgent and over-the-top vacation, and I gained about 6 pounds in a week. This was not entirely surprising, even though I did a hard workout every single day, and just generally walked around more than usual.
Yesterday, H had the nerve to text me this: “Hey, Are you trying to prank me by adjusting the bathroom scale? Because it looks like I didn’t gain any weight at all on vacation!”
😡
REHOME.
stuffandthings, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs. Please tell them you were dealing with a personal medical emergency and see how quickly they hopefully shut up.

Honestly, the cost sounds like the least bad part of it!
DH's doctor ordered a routine echocardiogram at his annual physical. The week before the appointment, he received an estimated bill of like $2k in the mail. He had a high deductible plan and wasn't close to the deductible so I told him to get on the UHC website and find a place with a cheaper estimated cost under his plan. He did that, found a place where it was supposed to be 10% of the initial place, scheduled it, and had it done. He's fine. Totally normal results.
Insurance billed him $2k for the new place. He appealed, but they denied the appeal. I hate American healthcare SO much.
I want to share our story in empathy. My husband was having some discomfort he thought might be a hernia. Not a big concern. His dr ordered a CT scan with contrast and scheduled it. We got approval from insurance and an estimate came through the medical system affiliated with his doctor (Cleveland Clinic) on their portal for $320ish. For a variety of reasons, my H had to cancel and reschedule this scan a few times. I guess the last time he scheduled it, he was booked into a facility at their actual hospital instead of their imaging clinic. My husband has never dealt with anything related to health insurance and how scammy it is so he never clocked the venue originally or the change. After his procedure (which he ended up not doing the contrast so it should have been cheaper), we received a bill for over $3k:
I work with idiots. That's the biggest headache right now. One of them happens to be my boss on paper.
My kid says there is some dance convention the studio does, but the studio hasn't sent any paperwork. I was able to google and find it because she says we need to get a hotel room and the hotel link says it's fully booked. But ironically, the convention isn't even at the hotel, this is just the hotel they worked a deal with. I guess I will be calling to see what is up. The hotel has rooms, but they're way more than the group rate.
This is our second year doing competitive dance and the first year was definitely a learning curve. The group block may be sold out already because they seem to sell out fast - we would usually stay at another nearby hotel and it would usually be a little cheaper anyways. Not sure where you live but we are in Denver so they are a bunch of hotels downtown where most of the conventions/comps are held. For 2025 season I just booked hotels for every comp/convention we are going to and then have reminders on my calendar to cancel a few days before after we get schedules for everything and I decide if stating at the hotel will be worth it. It's a whole pain in ass thing! haha Good luck and I would be mad that the studio hasn't relayed that info yet!!

Today's claim is that she told me to book the hotel last week. DH put a stop to that and said we all heard the same thing. There was the possibility of something in February, not scramble to book a hotel.
There is a hilton that is pricey across, the street, but cheaper than the mariott. I may book something fully refundable since I have status and then just keep checking as we get closer.
I also told me kid that the dance studio needs to communicate. Whether they setup a group text, group me, have a parent coordinator, something needs to be better than word of mouth of an 11yo.
We can afford everything that is going on, thankfully (efund, general planning ahead/savings), but it's super annoying and stressful, and is pushing off some lower priority things we'd been planning to do.
It started with a very minor gas leak on our water heater. It was under warranty, so they sent a part, and scheduled a plumber. Great! Except the plumber didn't do something correctly, refused to come back to check his work, and after a weekend with a slightly worse (but still minor) gas leak and my H replacing several bits of gas line just to be sure, we had to have the gas company out. They fixed it in about 5 minutes (the plumber forgot to tighten something down, which apparently is super common).
Said plumber also discovered the water pressure regulator to our entire house was busted. My H is handy and could thankfully do the work himself, but the first part he bought was counterfeit. This took about a week to resolve.
The cat has her cancer diagnosis. So many vet bills, Rx food, extra litter, and supplies.
When my H starts doing his prep-for-winter-fall-chores, he discovers our gutters have basically ripped, and we need new ones. (This wasn't a surprise, we were expecting to replace them in 2025 or 2026.)
The AC in my H's car has a leak. We'll hand wave here about how he's diagnosing/fixing it.
Saturday night water comes leaking through the sunglass holder in H's car; he thinks the drain tubes for his sunroof are plugged and overflower. TBD.
Monday morning before we drop off the cat for surgery I realize my lower retainer is severely cracked and about to snap in half, so I'll need a new one.
Monday afternoon while investigating the sunroof leak, my H manages to break his windshield while removing the headliner to his car to get at the drains. As he calls it, it was a "rookie mistake" and he knew better than to be doing what he was doing, and he just wasn't thinking (my guess is he was distracted due to lack of sleep and the cat being sick - he works on cars all the time, and nothing like this has every happened before. Leak is still a mystery, because as far as he can tell the drains weren't actually plugged, so he doesn't know why/how the water got where it got.
Additionally, we just have other random, but expected, expenses right now. Assorted lab bills for me, and I need to go to the derm for a skin check. Eye exams for both of us, and then my Rx changed a bunch, so I need both new glasses and new contacts.
Costco Optical is on my shitlist for refusing to re-lens a perfectly fine pair of frames because they are "too old" by their fussy standards. (The frames are "old," but I've worn them maybe 200 hours, and when they weren't on my face they lived in a case in my sock drawer. They weren't going to break being re-lensed.)
Duolingo is also on my shitlist for their A/B testing of when you are allowed to earn back hearts when you make mistakes. I stuck it out to get my year streak, but ultimately I deleted the app because I got so mad.

I am one of those stupid people who married a large man and am now surprised my child is large but he HAS TO STOP GROWING. He's 13 and wears a size 12 shoe. He's got a stupid long torso (probably in no small part because I am short but ALSO have a long torso) and the men's medium shirts I bought literally a few weeks ago are riding up. His pediatrician said it's going to end soon but he's already much taller than the average American male and I am going actively broke trying to clothe him.
The car/home insurance company my dad had seems be staffed by 22 year old bros and it’s been a time canceling his insurance and getting refunds. I swear one literally called me bro and then corrected it to ma’am.
It is like no one has ever died before. First they tried to email my dad the refund. My dad never had an email address in his life and I paid his bills.
They emailed a link to an electronic refund with a note that it was to be deposited by my dad only to an email address of my brother who had an auto policy there over a decade ago and which was never associated with my dad’s account. I guess because they shared a last name and briefly an address it crossed in their files?
Then they sent a check to him to his house and not me/the estate like I asked.
Now it’s the flood insurance dragging on.
Omg yes. I don’t remember who it was, but when my dad died, some company told me that his policy/plan/whatever had to be cancelled by him in person…um…he’s…dead?
DD was hospitalized end of May. She needed a specialist follow up. The earliest we could get in for new patient was today. She needs some test ran. The earliest she can get the u/s… October. I told them in June she needed the u/s. I know they cannot schedule it based on what I say. It’s just frustrating
We had something similar this summer. DD needed an mri and I told them she would do better with sedation but they scheduled it without. Then it became a huge deal because there were no more close appointments. So she had to do it completely awake.
1. Boy is accounting boring. 2. This has confirmed what I long suspected, which is that money people give things weird and fancy names to make them sound more complicated than they are. 3. People have far over estimated my capacity and intelligence. I'm about to be exposed as a troglodyte fraud.
DH works in marketing and I feel this way every time I hear one of his video calls.
The parking lot at school isn't big enough. If I get there after 7:45, there are no spaces. I am an adult. 10th graders don't NEED to drive to school, and they should park in the far away lot and leave the close lot to the grownups who have to be there.
