I get so irrationally annoyed when a coworker puts where she's going on her out of office message. She's not BEC with me, she's perfectly lovely. But it annoys me to no end!

My sister and I along with DS and my niece were recently in England for a couple of weeks. One thing my sister wanted to do but we never got around to was an afternoon tea. Her Bday is coming up so I found a place on the south shore and I’m taking her to a fancy afternoon tea for her Bday! I can’t wait!
blondemoment123, despite outlook allowing people to pre-schedule their out of office, we have so many people that don't put one up, no one knows where they are, etc.
Or we have people who are out and the person on their out of office is also out. There was a fellow supervisor that did that constantly. It was like she had no idea where any of her people are.
And we do have somewhere you're supposed mark out of office/leave/training. I don't need details, just put an X in the calendar so we know not to look for you.

So it turns out Xavier will need shoulder surgery so that’s fun. Anywhere I can sell a body part for some extra cash? Only half joking. Stupid American healthcare

My daughter Lucy is a junior in high school. She’s having some friend problems, especially bc so many of her hanging-out friends (as opposed to her in-school friends) are seniors. She went to guidance yesterday, she cried through joeys birthday party Sunday, it’s a whole thing. I wish I could help her but this is something she needs to figure out on her own. I remember as a senior, everyone went a little nuts at points during the year. I’m not sure I’m getting the whole story on what’s going on, either.

I am so tired today. A good friend experienced a death in the family yesterday and she called to tell me shortly after I got off work, then asked if I had time to meet her for a glass of wine. Of course I made time, and I’m glad I could be there for her. But unexpected plans on a Monday that included wine and tough emotions made for a sleepless night. I just feel so bad for my friend - she is such a good person and her family treats her like crap, so this is extra tough for her.

If my feet didn’t look like Fred Flintstone’s, I would totally consider it. Lol.

I am so close to Onederland I can taste it. I haven't been under 200lbs since 2018, and even then, it was only for like 5 minutes. My exH preferred me heavier and in general use to also sabotage my diet efforts. I've been working so hard and really struggling to get the weight off (hormone issues from Perimenopause are playing a huge role I'm sure, I actually have an appointment today to discuss with my doctor) that I really need this Scale Victory right now. Weight loss is such a mindfuck for me, and even on the days I feel good about myself, all it takes is one look in the mirror to send me spiraling.

I’m sure someone out there would find that hot lol
Seriously though I’m sorry he has to have surgery. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as you fear. Really quiz them about costs and what’s covered. I openly take notes in an actual notebook in front of them which seems to scare them into being open and clear.

We had 6 people, FI's family, over for dinner last night. They were literally on their way and FI said he was going outside to work on a nonsense project. Uhh no sir, you have X, Y, and Z to do. I'll never understand how men's brains work when it comes to this. FWIW he did what I asked, plus more, including most of the cooking, and all the cleanup. I keep forgetting how exhausting 3 youngish kids are, but I do enjoy time with them.
Do those big fluffy fake fur blankets stay fluffy/nice after you wash/dry them? Any tips?
I got a couple as presents last year (an Unhide one and some other one that’s fluffier) and I’ve been putting off using them because it seemed like they’d get funky. But now I have to face the fact that it’s getting cold again and my old blanket is unraveling and it makes sense to use what I have.
I have a handyman that I've used for a few projects, and he's great. Responsive, shows up, super affordable.
We're looking at buying a house, and I always look at the sex offender registry for the area of a potential house. I went to map view and was just clicking around and guess who was on there! My handyman! It was for "sexual contact" which I can't really figure out, but doesn't really matter I guess. I still can't believe it.
The network in my office is terrible today; I thought about walking over to an offsite location where I could attend a couple of meetings in person and work there, but it sounds like VPN isn't much better and it's going to be raining off and on all day. Would have been a great day to WFH, or even better just taken the whole week off since I'm out Th/F anyway.
The forecast for SIL's handfasting this weekend keeps getting cooler, and it's borderline if my outfit is going to be comfortable or not. I do not have time to find something different at this point.... At least the kids have alternatives/layers that we can make work.

Mine do but I take mine to the laundromat. My machine isn’t heavy duty enough to handle it and if you have a machine that’s conservative on water, it’ll get icky fast bc the soap really doesn’t get removed as well.

The ones I buy from Costco wash very nicely (I let them air dry).
but I think to answer your question, what do you have to lose? If you’re never going to use them might as well wash them to see. If it doesn’t work, you weren’t going to use them anyway without washing them.

The memo went out recently about me taking a step-back role to an individual contributor from a manager. It's been about 2 months since I was given this option by my boss and I accepted, so I'm a bit relieved that it's no longer a secret. So far I've received supportive comments, but of course I can't help but feel some people might think it was due to performance or think I'm failure or just didn't "have what it takes" to either/both be a manager and/or get through challenges. A big part of the change was due to needing better work-life balance, but I was also just getting burnt out from overwork. The change won't be officially implemented for a few months, so there is some time for transition.
Hoping to get tickets today during the presale for NKOTB's residency in Vegas next year! My cousin and I are going, which I'm excited about.

I didn’t have any use for them before since I already had a large blanket. I am generally a natural fibers only person so I’ve never had anything like this before and probably wouldn’t pick it out myself.
Now I need a blanket so will use them but seemed wasteful to immediately ruin them if there is some trick to cleaning them and keeping them nice.
I thought they must be washable because they are so popular but when I googled it, “refreshing” tips dominated.

Hers will say "I'm in Hawaii for the week" or something similar, not a conference etc.
Again, I have zero reason to be bothered by this lol.
H will be home in 2 days after being gone for 2 weeks, goodbye clean house. I always think it's funny that the house is so clean the whole time he is away, so clearly it isn't getting destroyed by just the kids...
I miss him though, and I miss having another adult around who I can send the kids to when they need something 😁

It bugs me because it could set a precedent of is your reason good enough to be out of the office. Oh, she’s in Hawaii so good reason. I’m out of the office because I want to veg on my couch all day - well, she can quickly answer an email.
I always tell my team to just tell me they are sick. Don’t tell me what your symptoms are, I (nobody) needs to know that, “I’m taking a sick day” is enough. It along the lines of “no” is a full sentence.

I have never gone on the sex registry site for my neighborhood, but I had a situation last week where I had a really nice conversation with a dad at soccer and there was something he said that triggered me to google him afterwards. What came up immediately was lots of public accusations from his ex wife of abuse. Totally should not have googled.
The fundraiser post reminded me of an Harris fundraiser in my neighborhood a few weeks ago that I thought was genius. There was a huge bake sale with coffee, lemonade, and sno cones (hot day). Everyone was invited to take a bakery box, peruse the tables, and pick out whatever you wanted and then the box was a flat $40. I don’t know if we got our money’s worth, but it was going to a great cause, and everyone in my neighborhood was there which made me so happy.
UGH! Last month, we bought a Venza so DD could drive our old Rav4. Well, yesterday, she drove it, and it started to shake and couldn't accelerate. I brought it to the shop, and the repairs are $10,000! DH and I are scrambling to figure out if we should junk it and buy a new used car around that same amount or just get it fixed. ACK! Crunching numbers for our budget and we can do it, but man! I was hoping the Rav would have lasted longer.

I hate adulting.
How old are we talking? And with this repair will it increase the longevity of the vehicle? Like, are we talking new transmission? New engine? New motor? $10,000 is a lot of money, but so are used cars. Around here you are looking at at least $15K for something semi-decent, and that is still probably going to have 50-75k miles on it.

I feel very stressed/high strung trying to keep up with WFH and all the vacuuming/cleaning I'm supposed to do to keep these fleas (see my previous posts) at bay, lol. "Just vacuum every single day for 6 months" says everyone on Reddit, sure I have time for that. I have maybe seen less than 5 fleas over the last couple days, so I guess what we are doing is working(ish?), however I'd prefer to see NONE...
DS has an appointment this afternoon to get sealants on his lower molars. He had the uppers done in the spring. I am almost weirdly looking forward to it just because I'll get out of the house and we have a little routine where we go to 5 Below and Sweet Frog for frozen yogurt after dentist appointments.
