DS had soccer pictures this morning thenI took him to Dunkin for breakfast. He goes to his dads in a little bit, so I might go get my brows done later.
H is supposed to be installing a toilet in the basement bathroom. I’m hearing power tools and confused. So I went downstairs to see what was up. He rather matter of factly said “I think the house is shifting because none of the doors are closing.” I did not press, I simply sighed and went back upstairs.
The good news here is he is usually catastrophisizes everything. So, on the one hand, the fact it was matter of fact and ended is a win.
Except, that it’s been humid AF with so much rain. And I think it’s far more likely that the wood is swelling that a 55 year old house suddenly shifting. Especially since we just remodeled the basement, so within the past 18 months we have seen the inside of the foundation, and it’s fine. So, the fact he went where he did is going to the worst case. But… he didn’t continue with discussions of major foundations work. So, small win?
I have all day to get a bunch of stuff done, plenty of time! So of course I just sat down on the couch with another cup of coffee instead of using that time 🤷♀️
Had a nice evening with friends last night, two of my good friends and they each have an only child the same ages as my kids that we basically consider honorary siblings that came over too. A little wine, fancy snacks and Costco pizza, good weather for sitting on the porch, and everyone had stuff in the morning so we wrapped up at 9:30.

Our house has always had weirdly fitting doors, but I did notice in just the last few days that one of them is suddenly much worse. So you may be on to something with your weather theory!

My friend is pregnant with a baby she worked hard to get and is now working even harder at keeping him in. She made it to the 3rd trimester recently and we’re celebrating baby boy today with a small luncheon.
She made mention that she and her H/older kids have never had family pictures taken. We all threw in on getting them a session with a photographer to schedule when she sees fit - pre-baby, post baby, whatever works.
I am so excited to give this to her. I am a person who can be convinced to celebrate Christmas a month early because I get so excited about giving presents. I’m going to have to sit far away from her at lunch today, or I’m going to spill the beans.
Up at 6 am for a band contest. Home now for lunch and then off to softball followed by end of season party. I’m going to need no one to need me tomorrow.
I'm having flashbacks to when Trump and the patriarchy turned the Me Too discussion of how prevalent and terrible rape is into a lament of how terrible it is have your son accused of rape.
DS had soccer pictures this morning thenI took him to Dunkin for breakfast.
Both my kids have soccer pictures this weekend. My daughter's leagues doesn't take group pictures and just Photoshops everyone together. It's hilarious because they don't account for heights--so in the picture my husband is towering over the other coach who is 6" taller than him. It's weird as fuck
I went to Billie Eilish and when I say I am REELINg from this….OMG. If any of you are fans-did you see how she sits on the floor (then lays down) and creates a harmony loop live for “When the party’s over” and the entire crowd is silent?
If the Barbie song makes you emotional, please put this show on your bucket list. Especially if you have a daughter. It was her first concert and my first in 24 years and the word incredible isn’t enough.
We’ll be hosting my parents next weekend, and I’m planning the extravaganza for Saturday. I’m planning to make pumpkin pie, so I decided to make a batch of dough today so I could freeze enough for the pie so it’s ready to go next weekend. I therefore made an apple pie today with half of the dough, and I of course narrated the entire process, pretending I was the host of my own cooking show.
I think the beagle has figured out how to open the back (screen) door. I was in the hammock in the yard alone and suddenly I heard leaf crunching behind me and it was her! She looked very proud of herself.
I think she did it once before but I wasn’t 100% sure I hadn’t put her out myself.

I need to step away.
But not before passive aggressively bringing up a different thread in this one.

Today has been unexpectedly nice. Our brunch plans fell through, which allowed DD to go apple picking with a school friend. DH and DS went to see DS's friends' footall game so I ran errands and cleaned ALONE!!!! Now the girls are playing in the basement and DH and DS are at flag football. I am doing laundry and relaxing?!

With the temps, the ac doesn’t run, which takes a lot of the humidity out of the air. I’m 99% certain this is what it is.

Our soccer league used to have the photographers come to games like 20 min. early and photograph everyone, including a team pic. If you were absent from that game, oh well. This year they changed to holding pics on one night (for the entire rec soccer league) at the rec center and doing a photoshopped team pic.
Dd has a concussion and is not going to play the rest of the season, so we skipped the pictures, but I heard it was the biggest cluster ever and they had to add 2 more nights to do it, there was an apology from the guy in charge, etc. I'm so glad we skipped them. But I am really curious to see how the photoshopped team pic is going to look lol.

Our church had a blessing of the pets service today and so we attempted taking the puppy out in public. That was… challenging. Puppy was so happy to see other dogs but after he escaped his collar to play I decided to just hold him.
There are a group of actual fucking Nazis (masked of course) standing on an overpass near my house this morning, in an area within spitting distance of three synagogues. Fully half my subdivision is Jewish. My husband is storming around in impotent rage and I'm honestly in tears. How many lows are we going to hit? What do you even do in this situation?
circa1978 - I’d probably make some kind of sign about how not only are they Nazis, they’re cowards for having their faces covered and go stand silently next to/near them with it.
TR I think someone ran them off or they moved someplace else. All they've accomplished is us giving even more to the SPLC this year than we already have, although other anti hate group suggestions welcomed. I cannot wait for election day.
I made my daughter's birthday c....cookies (ha) this morning. I can bake pretty much anything, but all she ever wants are chocolate sugar cookies with mint and vanilla buttercream.
My son wanted a birthday pie this year.
I swear I make some damned good cakes, they just don't feel special, I guess!
We went out for breakfast, took the dog to the park for a walk, checked out a new apple orchard and enjoyed a drive on some country back roads. Went out for lunch. Then I randomly dozed off and took a little afternoon nap lol. We have reservations for dinner at a place we haven’t tried before. Also it is SO warm and feels like summer today.

I saw this on FB and immediately called my sister who is out and about today with my two young nieces. They didn’t need to see that. I’ve only seen blurry pics, but I can make out something that says “America” and “white man” which is questionable logic, to begin with. I think they 100% chose that location based on general visibility and proximity to the synagogue. I always like to think of our city as a liberal and tolerant place, but these incidents are a clear reminder that I’m wrong.
