Do you think there will be an election in 4 years? I am 50/50.
I think there will be an election, but we're moving towards a system like Hungary, where the ruling party has changed the levers of power so much that their authority can't be challenged.
I want Biden to say fuck you and write a bunch of EOs...forgive all student loans, or whatever, that will be done and Trump has to been years trying to fix.
This. But I want him to resign and hand it over to Kamala for her to do.
Omg, he’s going to pardon all the January 6th people, isn’t he? I’m assuming those were federal charges. Did any have state charges for any part of it? I think some R voters are going to be mad about that… but you know, they never care until the leopards eat their faces.
He campaigned on that promise. His voters want that.

1. The federal government will have massive cuts to everything except Homeland Security/Border Patrol/Military. Massive cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, food stamps, FEMA. The effects on the economy are going to be huge. 2. Public health: I think we're looking at a substantial decrease to life expectancy. Increased maternal and fetal mortality rate, children dying of preventable disease, people losing health insurance and therefore not getting the care they need, etc Not to mention that cuts to the EPA will make our air and drinking water far less safe, natural disasters will kill people, etc.

My top three are:
-I run a local nonprofit that sponsors and welcomes refugees to our area. The program we use to partner with the State Department was started by the Biden administration. I’m assuming it’ll be cut as soon as Trump is sworn in.
@@@@@@
-We’ve been trying to have a second baby. I’m scared that I’m already pregnant (will take a test in two days) and that I will have complications and die because my Wisconsin doctors are afraid to intervene. Or that my fetus will have a fatal abnormality and I’ll be forced to carry to term. I don’t know what we should do going forward. Do we keep trying after this? Do we give up and just enjoy the one we have? I’m 39 and will be 40 in a few months—I can’t just wait a few years.
-My kiddo. We live in a very blue city so their school is super supportive, but rural Wisconsin is a cesspool right now and I’m not sure what kind of nutso bills these assholes will dream up at the state and federal levels. My husband and I already had the conversation about whether we’ll have to have them cut their hair to “pass” as cis.
That the US will stop supporting Ukraine, leading to a Russian victory and possibly ongoing invasions of Moldova and who knows where else, and a reassembly of the Soviet Union.
Ukraine will fall to Russia and then Putin will move on to invading another country.
There will be another global pandemic and we just won’t do anything.
Elon Musk will “move fast and break things” with the federal government.
Medical research will be set back decades under RFK jr.
I'm really worried about bird flu and what will happen if Dump is president if it breaks through to human transmission. Or if he has gutted the CDC and public health departments.

Continued loss of rights for trans people. Further dehumanizing rhetoric and hate. Deportation and loss of protection for asylum seekers. Increased violence and hatred that will be tolerated and stoked by leadership. There is more, but you said two and those are front of mind.

Gutting public health No more truly fair elections Even more outwardly hate towards anyone not cisgender, christian and white @ dismantling education @
I'm so scared. I'm scared that as a cancer patient I'll lose my insurance. I'm scared that my trans family member will not have access to life saving health care. I'm scared that my company will fold (union related) and I'll be unemployed. I'm scared that my immigrant family members will be deported. I'm scared that elderly family members will lose their social security and Medicare. I'm scared that LGBTQ+ family will lose their right to be. I'm scared for all black and brown family members trying to just exist in this hateful country. I'm scared that my daughter can be denied life saving health care because of laws enacted by repugnant idiots who don't even understand how bodies work. I'm scared that it's supposed to be 81 degrees today in New England and that the government will no longer do anything to combat climate change. I'm so scared.
I really need people to understand that the climate change problem is an immediate problem. Last year the government spent $95 billion on natural disasters. Your homes and communities are in danger NOW.

We just had a tropical storm hit us in NOVEMBER. Climate change is now.

I'm worried about so many things. I'm worried that I've voted legitimately for the last time ever. More political instability worldwide. A SCOTUS that will continue to chip away at civil rights and regulations, taking away bodily autonomy and even the smallest of gains we've made fighting climate change. I'm worried about how anyone who doesn't appear to be white or has an accent will be treated here now that the hateful have been emboldened by a "mandate." (My friend from South America has already said she and her family have felt less safe the past few months.)
Closer to home, I'm worried about my job, which relies on the federal government for at least half our business, and that my husband's disability payments will be cut off and we will be well and truly screwed financially.

People have said this before when talking about secession post-2016, but now this election made clear that secession would be very bloody. Every state moved rightward. Every state. New Jersey’s race was closer than Florida’s and Texas’.
As a non-American, my biggest fear is the environment and climate change. We were not doing well before, but I am even more terrified now.
And in the immediate future, war. the impact on Palestine and Ukraine. And how that will spread.
These are my top fears.
And for the first time, I'm personally afraid for myself and my husband. I expect them to gut the ACA, Medicare and SS. I also just read the HHS portion of Project 2025 and I see they're coming for death with dignity. As a person with ALS, all of those targets leave me terrified. Will I lose health insurance? Will I not be able to get disability when I'm no longer able to work? Will I really have to let this disease progress until I'm completely immobile and bankrupt my husband before I finally die?
The end of any type of oversight and regulations whatsoever. Even more instances of contaminated food, water, and unclean air. Climate change accelerating even faster, leading to more novel viruses, climate refugees and migrants, spurring on global unrest, and increased authoritarianism as a reaction and so on and so on.
Loss of human rights and dignity, indiscriminate deportations, increased costs of goods and services, increased poverty, no social safety nets or programs, no real public education, a stratification of society into two distinct parts (haves and have nots).
David Sachs, Peter Thiel, and Elon Musk running our government behind the scenes.
And there's more but I'm not sure I can face thinking about any of this anymore.

(my own conspiracy theory) I'm worried that Trump will be killed either just before or after he takes office (shot, poisoned, etc) and it will be blamed on a 'Democrat', so that JD Vance can take over more easily and not have to piss off Trump's cult. And then the US will be his for life, ala Putin.

I mentioned a similar theory to MH a few weeks ago. They will find a way to remove him from office - either health related, legal or death. Then we’ll be stuck with Vance

Ok, I haven’t read anything about why the election went the way it did. Been a bit busy with my week away from work. I’m glad Andy Kim won but I didn’t realize it was close.
I think the largest issue (and the one that Americans will let slide) is the gutting of FEMA, and any programs that support wind and solar, and the USA pulling out of the Paris Accords. Like pixy0stix said, we are at a hugely critical, tipping point moment RIGHT NOW, and without the USA leading or at least participating in an aggressive wind-down of fossil fuel use, I fear the massive climate changes that will be coming.
Pulling out of NATO would also be pretty horrible. Poor Ukraine, first of all, but really everyone will be much more in danger. Putin must be cackling right now.
It’s really hard for me to even think about the future. I can’t get past how we got here. How did the masses make the choice they did? It’s terrifying. I feel like we are doomed.
