It's the white women who get their power via their white male spouses, I think. They portray themselves as the helpmate, the partner...and the damsel/belle who rules the household and can control them male with the batting of their lashes (or the calling of the police or someone to "rescue" them.) If they control the white men, to their way of thinking, they control the dialogue, at least to an extent. Their spouses lose that power, they lose *their* power. It's power by osmosis.

In 2016, I had an almost-1 year old daughter who I took to the polls, but it was purely symbolic.  She didn't understand any of what was going on.

In 2024, I have an almost-9 year old daughter who filled out my ballot with me, and a 5 year old son, each of whom voted in a mock election in school yesterday.  I need to explain to them in ways that maintain their feelings of safety as much as possible, why we supported Harris, what issues mattered to us, what will happen now that she didn't win, what could happen to people we know (and others), and how we can support them.

This is like the difference between experiencing a death as an adult, and experiencing a death that you then have to process on a dime so you can parent your young kids through, as they experience death for the first time.

On a non-political note. We took our doodle to the vet today. He continues to have ear infections. This is his 3rd vet and probably visit #7 since we got him a year ago. We drove an hour and a half for this visit because this vet is known for fixing doodle ear infections. His ear is so bad they can't even see his ear drum. My poor buddy. $250 for today, and they said to plan on spending another $750 over the next month. If this doesn't work, he has to go to LSU's vet school. Please don't adopt/shop a doodle unless you have a lot of money and time. I know I say this often on here, but still.

I really think you should. My son and I dropped our cat off to be neutered at the humane society today and we saw all the cats there and I stopped and cried some more because people really do suck and animals and their love is so pure.

I am a white woman and I am not shocked at all. A good number (half?!) of white women are the enablers, the Trojan horses, the betrayers. They appear one one and behave another. They will do anything to assert their supremacy over others. They will pretend to support you and cut you off at the knees. They don't speak up if there is any threat to themselves. This sector of women defers to their husband so severely and then  takes out their need for power on those they deem "less". And they cannibalize each other when there is no one left. Women taking advantage of women. Who are the main players in MLMs? Who are the biggest paid influencers peddling garbage and ripping people off (and btw the one silver living is all these dropshippers are about to FIND OUT if Trumps' tariffs go through)? Who is the main excusers/enablers of rampant pedophilia in the churches? Trump makes for easy pickings for this type of woman. And they can go on smiling and pretending to be something they are not an no one is the wiser. We see this again and again and again. Even in communities like this. 56% are full of shit.

Unfortunately, I knew deep down this would happen. Trump voters are in a cult and you can't do much. Trump could punch them in the face, they would tell you without hesitation and genuinely believe Biden did it. If you showed them video proof, they would tell you it was fake and manipulated. This is frightening and people still want to pretend it's just good ole politics. No it's not.
I've been keeping track of all the people who said Project 25 has nothing to do with Trump. I want to rub it in their face when it's implemented. Even though they were vocal about how absurd it was and how it's a tactic from the "left", I have a feeling they will change their tune and find it OK.

Our local elections have been surprising too. A crazy Trumper was elected in the city council. While our Mayor and city council aren't affiliated with any political party, this guy was endorsed by the RP. This should be interesting.

I can't understand what's happening, AGAIN, to this country. I don't even understand how he was allowed to run again given what happened Jan.6. We live in a reality where Evil is what people wants. I can't comprehend.

On top of everything else, I'm dealing with TWO specialist Dr. offices who are refusing to fill meds that their office prescribed and telling me to talk to my PCP about it when I ask why. And I had to call the vet for my one dog who is limping, and then took my other dog to get nails trimmed and opened the door onto her paw and she yelped so loud, and now has a small bloody spot.

I'm firmly in the I hate life today camp.

I realize I'm probably castastrophising about the Dr. stuff because of my overall anxiety, but blah.

Genuine question because well, this is reality now: do you agree with his specific beliefs on health-related issues? Or do you just know he was at one point a great champion of the environment, including water issues, so he must also know about "clean" food? Or something else?

Like, I am trying to understand if the contingent of people who think raw milk is good and vaccines are bad because scientists and doctors lie has gotten so big that we are just going to throw the entirety of decades of research in the trash, or if it's just that people hear "I'm going to clean up chemicals" and think that must be good without actually knowing specifics.

As you might know I don’t get anxious/stressed out too often. But when I do I know I’m actually anxious because of the GI distress and diarrhea. It’s happened at a few key moments that I remember distinctly - the week leading up to when I asked for a divorce, the day that Roe vs Wade fell and I was talking on the phone to abortion seekers who were turned away from their appointments giving them info on how to get pills by mail, when my partner was diagnosed with bladder cancer and now. Ugh. The worse feeling.

I stopped at Starbucks after my doctor's appointment and there was a guy there saying he voted Trump because he is a brilliant businessman (which I heard from a lot of supporters) and the woman at the table next to him said the only thing he is brilliant at is being a con man and started listing of his bankruptcies, being sued for the university by the students who attended his university, history of not paying his bills and venues. Listening to her made me want to cry that somehow over half the country likes him and believes his crap.

My stomach sank when I checked my email this morning. Middle America not only hates women in positions of power but also women of color in positions of power. 

My only silver lining today is after 2 days of school refusal, she's back today. 30 mins late, but there nonetheless. I consider this a win. Of course now I'm worried about school funding being cut/dismantled bc she's in a special school run by the county. She'll be in special schools like this the next 2-3 years.

Your actual user name doesn’t change. You edit your profile and what it displays can be different from what your user name is. That’s why some people are hard to tag, because they’ve changed the display to something else. Sometimes, it is for fun - like dick move changing it.
