((deadwing)) I'm sure my weird SIL and her family will do something crappy at Thanksgiving. I'll post to entertain you. I plan to go eat and leave pretty soon after eating. DH and the kids can come home whenever. I bet the kids will leave with me or soon after.
Anyone else debating about what to do about Thanksgiving? My family is a mix of viewpoints. Right now I just don't feel like being around...anyone. Or making the effort to travel (train + lyft). But I know my (liberal) mother would be hurt and sad.
I thought about this a lot today since it’s so near. My mom is a Trumper and I’ve refused to discuss politics with her for years. My aunt, her sister, is as well. The rest of the extended family that will be there keep to themselves about politics which I feel isn’t great. My plan is to get up and leave the room if the conversation starts, and if anyone badgers me in any way I will just leave.

I told my H I refuse to go to his dad and step moms house again. They had a flag up when we drove by Sunday (I knew she was a supporter but did not know he was/would allow). Even tho my mil is crazy at least not about this!
I am skipping Wordle and the NYT crossword to support the Times tech workers strike. But man, I could really use some good crosswords to occupy my mind today.
I had to come into the office today so I dressed in all black.
Late to the party but merriam Webster missing letter
My family are rabid Dems so Thanksgiving will be fine. However, my in laws are Trumpers and I am thankful we have no plans to see them this holiday season.
In the midst of all this disaster, I keep forgetting my dad had shoulder replacement surgery yesterday morning. Question - is it normal to have low BP/be lightheaded after surgery? My mom said she was standing with him this afternoon doing his exercises he's supposed to do, and he got kind of lightheaded and unresponsive. She did take his blood pressure and it was a bit low (she didn't say what it was). She hurried and got a chair under him but said it was scary. She said he got better throughout the evening. He's a big and tall man, and I think my mom's a bit terrified of him falling now.

Oh no! I think I’d call an after hours service if they have one. Especially if it happens again.
Both sides of my family are liberal. My friend and social media list is pristine. I have...no one to take my anger and hurt out on, so instead, I'm just over here researching why we don't eat butter like we do cheese. Did you know that butter has very little lactose?

Same.
Perhaps of interest:
Tandsmør is a Danish word that means “tooth butter” for when you have such a thick swath of butter on your bread you leave marks when you bite into it.

lol! I have seen butter boards (think that's the term). It's a board with different types, flavors of butters and you spread on bread or crackers. Like a cheese board but butter.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

On Sunday we booked a cruise for the whole week of Thanksgiving. I'm excited about vacation but also not gonna lie, excited about not doing the big family thanksgiving with all my ILs.
On a non-political note. We took our doodle to the vet today. He continues to have ear infections. This is his 3rd vet and probably visit #7 since we got him a year ago. We drove an hour and a half for this visit because this vet is known for fixing doodle ear infections. His ear is so bad they can't even see his ear drum. My poor buddy. $250 for today, and they said to plan on spending another $750 over the next month. If this doesn't work, he has to go to LSU's vet school. Please don't adopt/shop a doodle unless you have a lot of money and time. I know I say this often on here, but still.
My doodle (schnoodle) started getting ear drops administered by the vet that last a month. For him it has lasted even longer and cleared up his formerly chronic ear infections. It is pricey at around $100 a pop.
Now he just feasts on his paws so we are now working on figuring that out. Poor guy.
