IT SNOWED IN LONDON THIS MORNING! (yes, I am excited because it rarely snows). It hasn't really lasted long on the ground as it got too warm and began to rain, but I had such a fabulous time walking Cooper as the big flakes fell. It was so peaceful in the nature reserve.
I bought these small ceramic houses after Christmas last year. I gu3ess I did not read them well enough the lights are not on timers. So they stay on all the time and will burn out.
I am trying to find replacement lights with a timer, but they are small and nothing online seems to work.

So I'm not sure what plan B will be.
Could you just put them on a light timer switch that plugs into an outlet? There are the old manual ones where you set the timer or you can get a smart plug and set it up on your phone. (assuming they plug in and aren't on batteries)

Oh they're little battery lights. And I can't just buy tea lights because the opening is only 1".
I may do battery fairy lights and hide the battery pack somehow.
My hair salon is doing a Taylor Swift themed Mommy & Me salon day next weekend and I booked a slot for me and DD. We'll both get trims and blowouts and there will be friendship bracelet making and "special drinks". I've been trying to think of a fun 1:1 activity to do with her and I think she'll love this!
I'm going to a concert tonight after work and I'm already anticipating tomorrow's exhaustion.

*TW*TW*
I just found out that my neighbors daughter has Cancer. She is in her early 20's. I found out through the grapevine and I don't know if I should say or do anything. Ugh. This is just awful. Eff Cancer.

My closet reno is happening right now while I'm working from home! I have to say it's a nice change having women working on a construction project. I always feel mildly uncomfortable with unfamiliar men in my home, especially living alone.
I went to our county's affordable housing coalition meeting last night. There were only like 15 people there, which is kind of a bummer, but it sounds like they are doing good work and I can hopefully take a more active role in advocacy going forward. It was also really frustrating to hear about all of the red tape involved in getting any development done here, at all, and how long it is going to take for anything to happen to address current needs. I am really glad I do not work in government!
I am off all next week so I really need to buckle down and get some things done this week first. But I don't wanna, lol.

I have an employee who needs a little more supervision than I realized, which is frustrating. I had her post webinar registration information for customers on a specific product line. Well, she messed up the webinar description and included customers on another product line, too, so now I have to reach out to the people wo registered and basically say, "Oh yeah, that webinar isn't for you. And we don't have one planned for your product." The thing is, it can all be a little twitchy and needs to be handled carefully.
True random: I do not understand describing fabric (like clothes or sheets) as "buttery". I love butter, but the primary feeling I associate with butter is greasy. That's not an appealing quality in fabric. I feel like I've encountered this description a lot recently and it really bothers me.

We got home at 10pm sun night from a week long trip and both H and I took off yesterday to deal with unpacking, laundry, cleaning, pick up dog, etc. Know what his #1 priority was that just had to get done first? Raking the backyard leaves. Why are men?

I took the kids on a disneyland day yesterday. We were at the parks for 16 hours and then drove the hour home. We got home at about 1:30? I am so tired today. My hips hurt. I think I got sunburned. But we had a great time.
I just want to crawl back into bed. Instead I have a packed day, including some work I did not get to last week.
My H wants our next vacation to involve laying on the beach and going to the swim up bar. So I am researching that. We will have our kid (11yo) with us so it needs to be fun for her too. Open to suggestions of places or even specific resorts.

I got tickets for DD and I to see Wicked this Friday. Letting her take a skip day as it is a noon matinee. A friend's daughter saw it at her university last week and already has tickets to see it again when it releases. Also getting Moana 2 tickets for next week, just need to pick which day.
Yesterday and today both feel like a full week each. Fingers crossed the rest of the week chills out a bit, I need some mental energy to get myself together for both hosting Thanksgiving and being ready for Christmas.
Time is so weird, this week feels like a month, but the next month is going to go by in a blink.
lavenderblue - I would absolutely not say anything unless and until you are told directly.
That is is what I figured. I just feel awful for them. I also think it's awful that her cousin is telling people (that is how I found out), it didn't sit right with me.

we worked with a travel agent to find resorts with water parks attached to them for our next trip. Mexico had a bunch, the DR had a lot, too. Look at Royal Splash resorts.
I had my annual GYN appointment this morning. The past two years my paps were abnormal (ASCUS with negative HPV which I guess is the good kind of abnormal), so here's hoping #3 will be normal otherwise I'm sure I am in for some kind of fun procedure, lol. I don't have too much hope though.
My mom texted this morning that they have decided not to travel to Thanksgiving in DE with us, and I am relieved. I really do feel sad for them but we're all going to miss it once and awhile due to illness or whatever. I think my dad would have been very uncomfortable in a multi hour car ride wearing a sling, sleeping in a hotel, etc. (and selfishly I'm glad we don't have to drive out of our way to get them now).
My 40th birthday is coming up in February and I really need to make some kind of plan. I do want to have a party. Once we figure out a location I'm turning it over to H, though. H's 40th was much easier to plan in the summer as there were more outdoor venues available. I'm pretty sure I want it to be at a restaurant or bar so that I don't have to bring everything into some kind of party venue, but our options in the winter are all kind of meh here.
beerlover I'm also turning 40 in February! There's an establishment precedent for milestones in my close friend group. I've got the broad strokes figured out. I'll probably crowd source ideas here for part of it when we get a little closer.

I just thought I had the best Christmas gift idea for DH, basketball tickets to his college alma mater! Bought the tickets, purchased 4 so he could take his friends along if he wanted. It's a Sunday afternoon game, so no rushing or staying out late. Seemed perfect. Until I realized that the game is on Super Bowl Sunday. It figures.

Coverage doesn't usually start till 630 or 7. Can they be home by then? Maybe you could have them over after to watch at your place.

My partner took our daughter to the dentist this morning. He took a picture and it is so so cute! She has a balloon, sunglasses and a stuffed animal. This is her 2nd visit and he said she did great!
Her dentist is a Black woman and her pediatrician is a Black woman. So thankful she sees this representation. I didn’t have any Black doctors until I was in my 20s. Another reason we’re not leaving this expensive ass city!
