Just the kid, the dog, and I this weekend. DH is off on his guys weekend.
I'm off tomorrow, thankfully, but bummed the weather this weekend looks like rain. We were hoping to hit up the amusement park Sunday. I keep our passes because they're cheap and we're locked into the price, but I feel like I might just be paying to help feed the animals and keep the lights on, lol.
I took tomorrow off to rot with my best friend while our children are at school. I don't know if it's just being a 6yo or end of the school year but I'll die if I have to parent one more day.
I canceled the plane tickets to St. Louis I bought last week because I don't know what possessed me to buy them in the first place.
I hate when my coworker and I get to work at the same time because that means I have no time to myself before work me has to be "on".
Our new summer intern started this week and it's already a better experience than last year, thank goodness.
The Chobani cookie dough creamer is ELITE in iced coffee.
We have tickets to see the stage plays for Ada Twist and Bluey this year and I'm probably more excited than the children for those.
I'm using the stopwatch on my phone to time how long it takes my Teams status to go from Green to Yellow. It feels like it's doing it faster recently. Or I'm slacking off more which is totally possible lol
It's been rainy and windy since last night. Around 3am, both my dog and I jerked awake. I could hear whispering, but couldn't see anyone out my window or on the security cameras. I'm sure the sound was carrying with the wind, but every time I would start to drift off, it would start up again. So, not a great night's sleep.
I'm really tempted to take tomorrow off to tackle the garbage disposal. All of the parts should be here today. I feel like I shouldn't because I took last Friday off and next weekend is a holiday. I have the time. I should use it.

I'd be interested in your findings on this. I swear first thing in the morning it takes longer to turn yellow than it does after lunch. I swear I've also seen it turn yellow while I am actively working on a remote machine - it's like it can only detect when I'm doing something locally, which is not how I spend most of my day.

We regularly have days where it will default to yellow when we're actively chatting. I think unless you're yellow 99% of the time or whatever, no one really knows if it's the system or not.
We also have a lot of time where if you login on VPN instead of the office. It shows you as offline, even though, again, chatting with people.
I have my first therapy session in over a year at 3pm today. I know it will probably be a relief once it's over, but I'm dreading it, because again, it's just another thing that I have to do when I'm already busy. At least the therapist knows me. I have (as these things usually go) been having a better week, so now I don't feel like rehashing all the events of the last couple weeks and the ways that I did not handle things appropriately, but I know I need to. I think one thing that bothered me about therapy last time is feeling like I couldn't stop going and I started to get annoyed at the commitment. I'm going to tell her up front that I don't want having to go to therapy to ruin my July off, so I'll probably do a few sessions through May/June and then pick back up in August when school starts. Hopefully that will be enough to get me on a better, less anxious path.

I have buffalo gnat bites all over my face.
I’m really tired of schools cramming everything in during May.
My son’s preschool graduation is tonight and I’m so exhausted by the grind I can’t even enjoy it. If I have to answer any more grandparent questions or get another, “your kid needs a blah blah blah by Friday!” item, I’m going to take a long walk off a short pier and never be seen again.

It was between 5 and 5:30 minutes.
I know my manager doesn't care and no one has ever said anything to me about it, I was just curious. It also went yellow while I was on a WebEx yesterday which is just annoying.
I pet-sit a dog every week that looks similar to my dog but he's twice her size. This week his parents went on a week long trip so it's my first time having him for a week, and he's mostly good but he has some traits that are getting on my nerves. They give him a serving of people dinner. They're elderly and they spoil him, which is fine, but he is so up in our faces when we eat because he's used to literally getting his own dinner plate. Trying to put his paws on the dinner table to steal food. Our girl WOULD NEVER! He is also stealing her spot everywhere, on the couch, on the bed. She is my child, you are visiting you need to give her spot back! But also he misses his parents I'm sure, so I get it.
I just feel bad for my baby girl, so I'm trying to give her extra time with one of us to make up for it.
Yesterday we moved our couch into the garage in preparation for delivery of our new one today. The dog fur was OUT OF CONTROL. Holey Moses. I also used this opportunity to take the area rug outside and hose it off. Guarantee a dog will puke on it within the next 48 hours. LOL

My 3 year old dog, who is normally my best boy, was being terrible last night and causing all kinds of chaos. So I sat him down to have a chat about his behavior. As I was explaining things to him, he leaned in to me and gave me his paw to hold. I'm pretty sure he was doing his best to manipulate me.
I leave in 3 days. I'm mostly packed, but in no way am I actually ready! I'm nervous, but hopefully everything will go smoothly.
I've worn a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor since January, but I finally put one on by myself last night. I'll have to on my trip, so I figured I'd better do a trial run. The FDA says to only put them on the back of your upper arm, but how I'm supposed to do that by myself I'll never understand, so it's on the front/side of my arm, hopefully it behaves and works like it's supposed to.
Last band concert of the year tonight! We do have an awards ceremony next week, but I'm happy to have the after school and evening commitments winding down.
DD plays flute in concert band and jazz band. She told me this week she wants to add sax. Cool! Talk to your band director to talk about it and find a teacher for the summer. I think she thought I might balk at the idea, but I think it's great if she WANTS to do it. I'm def not spending my summer forcing it.
DD and I were talking about her specials grades today and I discovered her school library has a actual physical card catalog still. They are attempting to teach the kids how to use it, I didn't think libraries has actual card catalogs anymore I thought it was all online.
I decided to try Red Vines and they are in fact garbage. I will still finish the package.
Has anyone had an EEG? I have one on Monday and need to go into work right after. Will may hair be full of some kind of gel/glue? About how long do they usually take?
Ds3 graduates prek tomorrow and the school isn't doing anything since they do graduation for the bridge kinder program. I know it's dumb but I'm so disappointed
I finished painting the ceiling and walls of our bathroom & I'm going to take a break before attempting the touch ups and trim.

I hate when it goes yellow, especially if its because I am on a call and not actively typing.
I had to get a new laptop for work a few months ago and it locks so quickly it's driving me nuts. Like I can't even get up to get water or something from the printer without it locking and having to log back in.

I usually take L to school, and H usually picks him up, but sometimes L decides (because toddler) that we need to switch it up. Today was one of those days, and even though I tried to convince him to let me drop him off because H wasn't feeling great, no, only papá would do. Until they got to the door of his room, and L had a total screaming melt down because I was supposed to go with them (like, running back to the entrance to try to go home and get me). Being 3 seems very hard!
Oh, my phone was blowing up last night because the 5th grade promotion flyer is only allowing 2 guests per student.
So no siblings or grandparents?? People are not happy.
My parents said they would do whatever, but I guess MIL actually mentioned givingafuck, so DH is like "well damn, now she cares and can't come."
ugh this is so hard. We have a 2-guest rule for 8th grade promotion. It is indoors the fire marshal literally said that is all we can fit. We had to give out bracelets to track people. People still try to get in and then fight us on it. It sucks, I get it but we can't fit anymore. I wish folks would just accept it. WE do live stream for people. There are 300 kids we don't have unlimited space!
I have to have a difficult conversation with my direct report this afternoon, and I'm a first time people manager (as of last Oct) who hates conflict. I have to basically warn him that if we don't see changes in his capabilities in the next month he'll be put on a performance improvement plan. I'm absolutely dreading it and need this day to be over.

Oh, another random: our new dryer arrived, AND we have someone who will come pick up the old dryer, hooray! Of course, I only realized after getting the new dryer installed that the door opens the much-less-convenient way based on the space we have for it, but luckily we can juuuuust make it work. I had to move something else because at first it wouldn't open at all, and I was feeling very a) sorry for myself and b) dumb for not realizing this was going to be an issue. ETA: Keep reading, I don't think I can reverse the door on this model even though I know sometimes you can!
New TV also arrived, but we haven't installed that one yet. You know you're old when the dryer is more exciting and more of a priority than the TV.
My youngest has preschool graduation tonight. She is so so excited! I am thinking about getting her flowers, that would feel really special to a 5 year old, right?
Don't want to start a separate thread for this but I do think we've decided on Northern Michigan for our summer trip. We'll be coming from Central PA and it's about a 10 hour drive, but we may stop in a city somewhere along the way (maybe Ann Arbor?) or way back to break it up a little bit and explore somewhere different. Someone had mentioned Traverse City in my previous thread, and I am looking into that, but was just wondering if anyone else could suggest any other towns to look at in that area for us to stay in. If you have specific recommendations for hotels, that is also awesome!
emilyinchile, can you switch it? We had this problem once and my H was able to switch which side the door hinged off of. I don't know if this is standard though, but it seems like it should be.
