I had a couple of drinks last night at dinner and am so puffy and yucky feeling today. This is not normal for me at all, one of the joys of turning 40 I guess.
My youngest has preschool graduation tonight. She is so so excited! I am thinking about getting her flowers, that would feel really special to a 5 year old, right?
emilyinchile , can you switch it? We had this problem once and my H was able to switch which side the door hinged off of. I don't know if this is standard though, but it seems like it should be.
I don't think so, annoyingly enough another dryer I was looking at specifically said you could switch the door, and I did not buy that one. You can imagine how I felt about that last night after having finally jimmied it all into place. This one's manual doesn't say anything about switching, and from a quick look at the machine itself it doesn't seem like it's possible.
DD is heading to universal tomorrow for the 8th grade field trip. They close the parks at 6pm and let all the kids have free reign until midnight- it's a fun perk considering all the cons to living in this state.
Now we're on to getting the house exterior painted (hopefully before the deck goes in to make that easier), we just have to pick our colors (and that's soooo easy, haha...ha).
I decided to try Red Vines and they are in fact garbage. I will still finish the package.
Has anyone had an EEG? I have one on Monday and need to go into work right after. Will may hair be full of some kind of gel/glue? About how long do they usually take?
I had a 24 hour one (I was inpatient in ICU), but I’m guessing not what you are having. And yes, it left my hair all full of goop. I was inpatient at the time, and they did some sort of shampoo cap thing, which was left my hair worse. I was not able to wash any of the anything out in the shower because of everything else attached. The EEG itself was nothing, not painful or anything.
Oh, another random: our new dryer arrived, AND we have someone who will come pick up the old dryer, hooray! Of course, I only realized after getting the new dryer installed that the door opens the much-less-convenient way based on the space we have for it, but luckily we can juuuuust make it work. I had to move something else because at first it wouldn't open at all, and I was feeling very a) sorry for myself and b) dumb for not realizing this was going to be an issue.
New TV also arrived, but we haven't installed that one yet. You know you're old when the dryer is more exciting and more of a priority than the TV.
Dryer doors are usually reversible! And it's pretty easy- just a couple of screws, really.

One of my parents cats has a tumor and is being put down tomorrow. I had to coordinate everything with the in home vet visit. I get a reminder text for the appointment listing "cats full first and last name".
It's definitely time and it's sad of course, but seeing Maxwell Last Name had me in a fit of giggles.

Hahaha you guys, I appreciate you all so very much, and I also am now going to update my original post so no one else tells me that the door might be reversible.
I'd be interested in your findings on this. I swear first thing in the morning it takes longer to turn yellow than it does after lunch. I swear I've also seen it turn yellow while I am actively working on a remote machine - it's like it can only detect when I'm doing something locally, which is not how I spend most of my day.
We regularly have days where it will default to yellow when we're actively chatting. I think unless you're yellow 99% of the time or whatever, no one really knows if it's the system or not.
We also have a lot of time where if you login on VPN instead of the office. It shows you as offline, even though, again, chatting with people.
It was between 5 and 5:30 minutes.
I know my manager doesn't care and no one has ever said anything to me about it, I was just curious. It also went yellow while I was on a WebEx yesterday which is just annoying.
Mine drives me nuts, if I'm not actively in Teams it'll go yellow even if I'm working elsewhere. But I've been chatting with my boss in Teams and hers is just hanging out at yellow so I'm hoping no one is putting a lot a thought into those statuses.
My son's play starts tonight. It's so much work, especially tech week. I think everyone wonders what they were thinking getting involved, but then the day comes and it's all worth it. They got their cast shirts last night which is earlier than usual so they can all wear them instead of uniforms today. He's excited! Somehow I have never seen Annie, so I'm excited too. We do an optional dinner theater where you can have a catered dinner before the show and get better seats. Tonight we'll attend just watch. Then back to volunteering for tomorrow's show!
I'm using the stopwatch on my phone to time how long it takes my Teams status to go from Green to Yellow. It feels like it's doing it faster recently. Or I'm slacking off more which is totally possible lol
What does it even mean? I rarely use Teams so it's often yellow. My whole computer locks though if it's idle too long so hopefully that's how they monitor us. LOL
I only have a little bit of end of school scheduling to complain about. Tomorrow is field day. K parents are to be there (if they want) from 9:30-10:30. Then parents can come to lunch at 11:20. What am I supposed to do with that?? I'm asking my kid which one he wants me to do, because I can't do both.

Getting flowers feels really special to this 45 year old, so I say do it!
PSA : For anyone interested in keeping their mouse moving while away from their desk - Amazon sells a bunch of mouse movers called “jiggler”. Works great to keep your computer from falling asleep or turning Teams status to yellow.

Ok so we can go to field day too. I have no idea what parents do at field day-- do you?

I hate when it goes yellow, especially if its because I am on a call and not actively typing.
I had to get a new laptop for work a few months ago and it locks so quickly it's driving me nuts. Like I can't even get up to get water or something from the printer without it locking and having to log back in.
If you work in an office or have other people in your home while working remotely, you should be locking your computer every time you step away. This is good security practice, not an annoyance.

I’ve noticed this too. We had updates to the new Teams so maybe that changed it. Also sometimes when I use my mouse there’s a slight delay to turn it back to green. If I think I’ll be away from my desk for a certain amount of time, I’ll put a meeting invite on my calendar so it turns to red or put do not disturb on.
The rehab my dad is in is supposed to be great and maybe they are with the PT but they are awful with updates and focusing on what I’m telling them. They seem constantly surprised that we don’t live with him. They are surprised that we work and need to know things like when will he be released? Will someone need to spend the night as he does not have anywhere to sleep but his own bed? What help exactly will he need? The goal is him living independently; are we meeting that goal??
They initially scheduled his release for the literal one day all month I said we can’t bring him home because of a gap in dog sitting coverage. I had told the social worker that, 3 nurses and both doctors I saw.
It is strange, surely these social workers have encountered adults who don’t live with their parents and who work? Or have pets? Haven’t they ever in their own personal life had to coordinate car or work schedules or take a pet to a sitter?
I think we are probably more flexible than most because we don’t also have to deal with kids. But I have to keep reminding them that we need to check our schedules before they book follow up appointments to make sure one of us can get him to them if he can’t drive himself because we don’t live near him and he doesn’t live near the hospital. That’s a major puzzlement to them. Is everyone else they encounter living close or with to their relative, unemployed, obligation free, healthy and ready to provide home health care 24/7 at a moments notice?
I said it before but it’s like they think we are powered down robots waiting to spring into action.

I don't know about elsewhere, but in my town they just stand on the field and watch. And a lot of parents take a half/whole day off work to do so. H and I never did, and our kids were fine with us not there. I think I did it once, before going back to work, and found it boring. But I hated field day as a kid and it was no better as an adult...
I have never paid attention to my Teams color and I hope nobody else in my org does either, lol. It's not unusual for me to walk away from my computer during the work day (thanks ADHD).
I did something to my neck yesterday and it feels slightly better today, but still annoying. I have no idea what happened but suddenly I really couldn't turn my head in either direction without a lot of pain. That's super fun considering we are leaving for vacation tomorrow night and will be "sleeping" on the plane overnight so I'm sure that will be really comfortable and not aggravate it at all...
followyourarrow, have a great trip! I am sure you will have an amazing time.
My child is tardy to third period: call, email, and text.
School creates entirely new bathroom use policy due to kids being caught vaping in the bathrooms three days in a row: radio silence, have to hear from my kid that now she has to preplan bathroom breaks and sign up for passes.
P.S. I am sympathetic to school admin staff trying to manage idiot kids doing idiot things the last few weeks of school but, OBVIOUSLY, that bathroom use policy was an epic disaster and rescinded within 2 weeks.
pixy0stix, sproctopus, ours has parents help out with stations that are setup. It's pretty easy stuff.
Our field day is the day after memorial day. I have no clue who thought that was a good idea for a working parent, but hopefully they get enough volunteers.
Employee A has been helping Customer via email. Customer asks, "Does anyone on your team know about XYZ and can chat with me about it?" Employee A replies to Customer, CCing Employee B - "Hey Customer, I'm copying my coworker Employee B to introduce the two of you. They would be happy to answer any questions you have."
Whose court is the ball in to continue this conversation? Should Employee B reply, "Hi Customer, what can I do for you?" Or should Customer email Employee B?
