pescalita you are so cute. I need a better picture of your new shoes.
Ok, I have a question. If one were to wear boots instead of pumps with this outfit, what boots would you wear? Feel free to mentally subtract the belt if that changes your answer. And add tights instead of sheer hose. (not me, not my picture)

I'd wear booties. Do you want heels?
Yes to heels, probably. Booties - I am long waisted and have very short legs for my height - so I'm kinda wary of booties. I feel like they'll make my legs look even shorter. Are there booties that won't do this?

I think the taller you go with a boot, the shorter your legs will look when paired with a knee-length skirt. By contrast, if it was a mini, I'd recommend over-the-knee boots.
Here's a cute pair from Aldo (though it looks like they only have an 8.5 in stock:

They look more rounded here, but it's really an almond toe. And it looks like it's a good thing Carl pounced when he did, I can't find them on zappos anymore! (I wish I could answer your question, but it's probably better for you that I don't try
I like the second pair with the buckle because it gives more interest. Plain booties look like the shoe is unfinished to me. However, Bandolinos are probably the MOST uncomfortable shoe brand I've ever worn.

I would not wear a skirt that length with boots + tights. Here is what I would do instead: Shorter skirt, tights, ankle boots
Skirt right above knees, tights, riding boots:
Pencil skirt with no tights and knee high boots
I also really love the look of oxford heels, some fun tights, and skirts:
If you do booties, consider ones that open into a V at the front - they will help elongate your leg:
thanks for those pictures sally! My skirt is actually above my knee. I just happen to be wearing basically the same thing as the picture I posted (black pencil skirt - except shorter - gray cowl neck sweater) and I was thinking this morning that I wish I had boots to wear with something like this - but none of the boots I own would work.
I own these brown boots that aren't everybody's cup of tea, but I adore and wear with most everything:
(but don't seem right with a black+gray outfit, or with a pencil skirt. I wear the crap out of them with my A-line skirts/dresses though)
And then I have my black fancy snow boots:
and a pair of REALLY outdated black boots with a square toe and really chunky heel that I bought in 2002 and look it. But I refuse to get rid of them even though I haven't worn them in years. like this. I loved these boots so much in college. They were the first pair of shoes I ever really splurged on. They'll never be cool again, will they?
and that's it. I need either a replacement for my 90's style black boots or I need to dip my toe into the world of booties before they go out of style again.
And shit. now I want oxfords AND booties. But at least these couple of posts and pictures and my random googles have successfully pushed that magic button in my head that allows me to see random trends on myself as opposed to just admiring them in the abstract and then thinking they'd look like shit on me.

Not at all. I also have short legs, and when I wore my booties (the black jcrew ones I posted upthread) to work two weeks ago with a gray skirt, I got SO many compliments. The skirt can't be too long, or you WILL look stumpy. My skirt was right at my knee, maybe a teensy bit above.
Ok, this thread is officially too long for references like that without a link. I can't find where you posted the actual booties. I can find where you said they came in, but not what they look like. Help a girl out?
Then I assume you are no longer a member of the United Methodist Church.
Also, are you planning to start researching makeup? I wouldn't want you to be inconsistent.
I'm part of a growing group within the Methodist church to change the actions of the general council.
And as you clearly skipped in the last big thread, I did. I'm good. The brands that I use have taken steps to not use the mica from mines in India where child labor occurs. But thanks for watching out for me.
I completely missed that thread. I even have to worry about child labor in my makeup? Where do you find information regarding safe brands?
It is sold out I'm afraid. I have discovered that by the time a polyvore set makes it onto Pinterest the items are almost always sold out.
Don't feel too bad! If it's Vivenne Westwood, it was probably $2,000+ originally. (By the way, if it so happens that your coat budget was $2,000, I don't feel sorry for you at all, since you will still be able to find an AMAZING coat. Also, I'm jealous.)
Y'all. Normally I don't recommend them cause they went all Frumpy McFrumplestein about 10 years ago.
But. JJill has some nice items for fall/winter. I'm eyeing up this entire outfit:
And a few other items
I can't decide if this sweater dress is worth it or not....
I'm intrigued by any place that offers tall sizes...off to check it out. Thanks!
That's part of the reason I posted it. I know there are some tall folk besides me on here. I'm waiting for my new boot socks from Eddie Bauer to arrive.

I tried to rock the leggings yesterday and I was not happy. I bought the Matty M ones from Costco everyone raves about and I had drop crotch all day. I thought leggings were supposed to be comfy! Do you think they were too small?
With everyone buying new shoes, I thought I would share a successful pinterest tip: 'break in your shoes in 2 minutes' method actually works. I did it for a pair of heels I wore for the first time and I wore them all night with no complaints, and I just did it for a pair of loafers that I've worn twice and didn't like how they created some sore spots on my feet. They are comfy today!

I'm usually a medium, but I'm tall. So I bought med and lg home to try on. The med fit ok, but the large felt Better all around. Maybe you just need to size up?
I've been on the hunt for a light pink sheath because my friend gave me this great grey blazer with light pink lining that she appears to have gotten somewhere in Asia. Hopefully this works.
Dress review time! First, I hate that online shopping is my reality now. The dress is creased from mailing, and, because it's polyester & viscose rayon, it doesn't iron easily and can't be steamed. Whatever. I'm wearing it anyway. The fabric is heavy. Probably too heavy for me to wear today, when the high is 91, but my office has been cold lately, so I'm counting on that. It seems really high quality for the Limited, which is good, because it was also on the expensive side for the Limited. It also feels more work appropriate than a lighter weight piece might. There's slight padding in the shoulders. The Tulip skirt looks good but feels awkward. Because the inside lip hits high on my thigh, it feels like I'm wearing down thing way too short. This is the first dress I've owned with bra strap fasteners. It doesn't really require them, but I'm glad they're there. The belt at its tightest makes the fabric bunch. I have it on the middle setting. It still bunches a little, but nothing crazy.
I love the color but will have to be careful to not get it dirty. It seems like it could get dingy fast.
Overall, I really like this dress. It fits well, is flattering and conservative. I'm so relieved to find work clothes that neither show cleavage or require extra layers to simply avoid transparency issues. And yes, it pairs well with my grey blazer.
