I went shopping this weekend and why is it 50 shades of oatmeal in the stores right now? That non-color is probably the worst for me, right next to breast-fed-baby-poop-yellow stores like to call mustard yellow. Nope.
Where are all the saturated jewel tones??!?
The Costco sweaters I got are all saturated jewel tones.
I think ink I have fairly similar skin coloring to you but darker hair. Jewel tones 4lyfe.

Check out Old Navy. I think they had some options.
I'm having problems finding sweaters that aren't all dusty-hued.

BTW, clear spring, right?
Yes I think so. Dusty colors will likely make you look washed out.
FYI, Costco has some really nice v-neck sweaters for $12.99. I just got three - a deep red, a royal purple, and a bluish teal. Love them and can't wait for it to get cool enough to wear them.
They hit low hip on me (5'4") so they should work for y'all people. The sleeves are loooong but for $13, I can cuff them.
I'm going to get a couple of scarves and maybe a new pair of shoes. Gray knit skirt, black tights, sweater, scarf = harpy fall wardrobe almost complete.
Costco has a bunch of good clothes right now. They also have some leggings that want to come home with me. And a pair of skinny jeans that I really wish came in bigger sizes.
Unrelated: I need accessorizing help. I bought this dress:
it's as plain a little tshirt dress as can be. The back is a low scoop - just above the bra line which ads some interest and looks good on me from behind. It's very comfy - and was all of $5 - but I'm wavering right now on whether I just need to return it. My tummy is a droopy mess. In skimmies it's at least smooth - but it sticks out. I do occasionally get asked when I'm due. I have a fairly defined waist from the front or back view - it's just the side view that sucks. And I dont' think it's going to get any better any time soon. Can I still wear this? With a belt? If so, what sort of belt? thick? thin? color? Or do I need to return this and stick with more structured stuff? (in which my tummy also sticks out, but at least I don't look like I'm wearing a sack)

I have no idea what "season" I am, but we look like we have similar coloring. I look terrible in anything dusty, pastel, or beige. Jewel tones are where it's at for me, but they do seem to be tough to find right now.
ETA: I don't know about you, but I also look good in black (as long as I'm wearing a little makeup) and bright red, and those are a little easier to find, especially as we head towards the holiday season.

wawa, I have a similar problem and in my experience belting only makes things worse and highlights my pouch. I just try to wear things that are well structured and hold it or at least minimize the problem while still showing that despite looking 3-4 months pregnant I still have comparatively small waist.

I personally would return it if it's not flattering on it's own. If you have a strong desire to keep it, then pair it with something structured like a blazer (which covers up the part you like about it). You may be able to do a thin belt and bold necklace, or a simpler necklace and bold belt.

Put a navy cardigan over it buttoned and belt it. Covers the tummy and gives it some shape but still shows that pretty color.

I love that color!
Try tights or Spanx
It would be cute with a blazer to add structure. I wouldn't do a belt with a poochy tummy.

I just got a flannel button up shirt in the mail today. I tried it on with leggings and boots. It looks 90% cute, but I'd prefer to have my waist a little more defined. Can I add a belt or is that dumb? Any suggestions for a black belt that might work?

wawa I kept thinking about your options for that dress during my Target trip. You could do gray or camel or plum with it, too. A belt either over a cardigan or under(if you're hippy like me) flatters even a bit of pooch. Spank don't hurt either.
I really, really wish there were an online mall of sorts. Or a way to create my own mall. Something that I could type 'yellow wool coat' and it would give me the selections from all of my favorite stores that I religiously shop at. Maybe a way to throw a 'surpise' store in every once in awhile so I was exposed to something new. There is an app for this, right?
I want this and also for them to combine my purchases so I only pay shipping once and wait for one package.
What I really want, is someone to do a style profile on me, pick out stuff, I give feedback, we settle on some pieces, and then they go to the mall and buy it all for me and send it to my doorstop. I want to be able to do this all online because I've done a really good job of using my too-busy-for-phone calls schedule to cover up the real reason I don't like to talk to people, socially awkward introvert.
I'm willing to pay a premium, which I realize makes the "save on shipping" thing moot, but I have unreasonable issues with buying just one thing at a time online, and it stops me from getting good stuff when I see it.
Basically, stitch fix, but with stuff I know I'll like, reasonably priced, and some feedback before they send me random shit. And better reviews.
I need someone to help me find booties. I want some of the Frye ones with the buckles and so on but those will have to wait until christmas.
I just kind of want a plain pair of tan or taupe ones that aren't too low cut (I want these to be more of a bootie and less of a "shootie" ha). I want something basic bc I only have one pair of black booties that have a high heel, so I need something to help round out my basics before I move on to different styles.
I missed this thread the first time around, but I like the English-countryside pics. Maybe I'll try for that. I am sure hoping that skinny jeans/pants, sweaters, scarves, and boots or flats are still going to be okay since I haven't really bought any new clothes in a year.
Today I'm wearing skinny jeans - rolled up at the bottom, flats, and a tunic blouse, so I think my wardrobe is pretty boring year round. I often strive to look like this:
But end up more like this IRL (even with a pony tail):
That being said, I'm not a fan of the southwest print boots, asdfjkl. I feel like they are ok in theory, but they might get used for evil like this...
I feel like these are way more cute and less chunky around the ankle...
I know I'm asking a month and a half after this was posted, but where is that black dress from? I love it and the outfit is basically what I live in all fall and early winter.

I have a similar from Target about 2 years ago that I love, but alas neither Target or the original store with this one have it anymore (this dress was linked from pinterest that linked from this website - www.plumo.com/).
Do you like these at all? I just searched 3/4 sleeve shift dress...

moreace01scout8 Thanks for the Keaton Row recs! I'm waffling. I almost hit go yesterday but I didn't. I did sign up for Ipsy instead AND I managed to commit to an Old Navy purchase. These are on their way to me:
awww, man! Somebody stole my idea. While walking through the crowd after an O's game there was a guy in a popped collar with blue preppy shorts with little Yankees logos all over it. My mom and I decided that we should market a line of super preppy clothes with totally lewd prints. Like instead of little sailboats (or Yankees logos) it would be little cocks. But designed in such a way that you don't notice right way. The world being what it is, I imagine this already exists.
I've been on the hunt for a light pink sheath because my friend gave me this great grey blazer with light pink lining that she appears to have gotten somewhere in Asia. Hopefully this works.
I had ordered this dress from ModCloth, but it's too tight in some spots, too loose in others, and too short. Back it goes!

My haul came!
I need to exchange the jacket for a smaller size but the oversized button downs work with my giant knockers.
My aspirational self would wear the chambray, jacket & pants together but sprinkling new pieces into my wardrobe makes me feel better about all the comments I get whenever I try something new.
So today just the ankle pants - the regular length fits me well and will do better after a wash. They're like a stretch twill and they feel like the price ($25), but I don't mind that for a colored pant.
Top was Anne Klein from Macy's and sweater was ON several seasons back.
Also - shoes. I came home the other day to a giant box from Zappos. I had expressed interest in these shoes but couldn't justify the 3 colors I wanted. So Carl pulled the trigger for me. <3 These are black suede, I also got electric blue suede and red leather.
