The other day, I was walking from my office to the main counseling office and the tardy bell had already rung. There were still students in the hall and there was a dean telling everyone to get to class. Most of the students were hustling to get to class.
The dean saw a girl taking her time walking and she was like "Come on, get to class. Why are you late?"

those bitches!
I thought of this thread three times today. Once just randomly, once when I was in a classroom with it's own bathroom where I sent a dancing kid with the bathroom sign in the air to the bathroom when the teacher didn't notice b/c this kid fidgets anyway and she was doing an organized stretch break, and in the same classroom when the teacher told a kid to wait b/c super important lesson. I almost told that kid to go anyway, I could see where the lesson was going and there was nothing she would miss by going to the bathroom that is so close to her chair the kids have to be careful no to hit her with the door and is in a trailer where in all likelihood she can still hear while she pees. (or at least listen as well as she was already listening, with was not at all, since she was supposed to be doing a worksheet with a partner and she was spinning in place...)
I am so glad you called the superintendent and he's as rip-pissed as he should be. I would also send a courtesy thank you e-mail and as a PP suggested, invite him to your next PTA meeting, so he has a chance to meet your parents and speak on the subject and cc the teacher and principal. Chances are, if it fits in his schedule he will be there. Andplusalso, it gives him a chance to address issues and present an open-forum for other questions. As an added bonus, your principal will have to be there and s/he will be put on a public hot-seat while he's doing a Q&A as to how the school board works, how to address issues at the school level and how to proceed if issues persist. Plus your principal will be openly outed as a lying liar who needs to be second-guessed. Which means she will never be a lying liar again if she has half a brain in her head. Your Superintendent, of course, as a professional, will know how to do this in a professional manner.
I am so horrified for your son. I deal with a granddaughter who has enuresis and encopresis issues and other physical issues (such as a bladder that is enlarged to adult size) due to withholding as a small child, and the teachers at our school have gone above and beyond to try to make sure she has proper access to bathrooms when she needs them and on a schedule. Your poor baby.

This came across my Facebook feed from a friend who is a pelvic floor rehabilitation OT. Thought it might provide further solidify why this is ridiculous.
