At least, that's the reason my dad keeps giving me when trying to convince me not to vote for her. She might cry!!!1!!
And ironically she's running against two of the whiniest, sore loser white men to ever exist in politics.
Anyone who thinks she is too emotional to be President has been living under a rock for the past 30 years. Very few people, male or female, could have taken as much shit as she has and still be standing with their head held high like she is.
Let's see....Whitewater, "Filegate," the way the Clintons used the FBI to find dirt on Bill's mistresses to discredit them, Bengazi, emails . . . don't worry, I'm sure there's more to come.
The bolded are all reasons I've been given, as well as "she is a liar" and "I just don't trust her." Oh and that time she was a republican when she was younger and had something to do with Nixon. But that's super different than Trump being a democrat in the past, I'm sure.
I don't think it's just that she's a woman- I think it's that she's a woman who isn't how a woman is "supposed" to be. She's ambitious. She wants power. She's not soft spoken, she's not warm and maternal.
Exactly. She did not change her name when she was first married and only did so when Bill started running for office. Then, when she was first lady, she took an active role in the administration with the health care stuff and did not sit back and host parties the way people thought a first lady should. That's where the hatred started, in my opinion, and then she did not get deterred - and pretty much double and tripled down.
She's incredibly smart and ambitious, which is why I love her. Always have. She's smarter than Bill (who I believe will admit to that), he's just way more charismatic.

People who say she isn't warm or maternal see what they want to see or haven't met her. The caring and concern she showed in the brief time I spoke with her about my sons last week will stay with me the rest of my life. She didn't have to take the time, she already has my vote and knows it. But she did. Her questions were kind, she squeezed my hand, and asked me to give the boys a hug from her. Just because she radiates strength and confidence doesn't mean she isn't warm. That's male patriarchal bullshit.
I have no doubt in my mind that if she was a man she would have an easier time. No matter how many people say that her gender doesn't matter, it does.
I've finally gotten my husband to SHUDDUP about her "Kim Jong Un uniform" (those boxy jackets she wears a lot). It seriously took my explaining 5-8 times that men just wear a suit & NEVER get wardrobe judged. But every single garment she wears gets picked on by somebody. And then I saw so many people remarking on their H's judgement for her outfit Tuesday. It Won't END!!!!!

I will vote for her, but not 100% enthusiastically.
Her voting record is more hawkish than I like, and some events during her campaign have deeply concerned me ("Hillary is like your abuelita because...", not to mention the whole CPT thing).
But she is by far and away the smartest, most competent candidate we've got, and I appreciate her efforts over the course of her career for women and children. I also respect the opinions from senators like Harkin who trust her.
And it's between her and Trump, for God's sake.
Edit: I forgot. Her composure and competence during the Benghazi hearings proved, at least to me, that she's the one I want in the situation room.
Oh, my boss gave me a couple of new ones. She shouldn't have stayed married to Bill Clinton after he cheated on her. She chose "a marriage of convenience" whatever that really means. Oh, and why didn't she run for Senator in Arkansas? I don't know? Why does that matter?
So, in some capacity (either directly or by not voting at all or by voting for someone who has no chance) you're voting for Trump.
This is kind of bitchy. I 100% believe that Hillary is the right person for the job, and I abhor those voting for Trump, but I'm not going to browbeat others who may be voting differently. People aren't forced to only vote for 2 candidates in our system.
Unless that candidate isn't actually registered in your state, and then yeah, your vote doesn't actually count at all.
I live in Massachusetts a hugely democratic state. during any other election the general consensus I hear (and see on fb etc) from my fellow massholes is all democratic. This election not so much. It pains me to see that so many democrats are leaving the party and voting trump. Do I think Trump can ever in a million years win Mass? No way. But I do think that the gap will be smaller. I just don't get all the Hillary hate and Trump love anywhere but especially in such a liberal state as MA. And I don't know... I would be embarrassed to back Trump. People are just so happy to be flying their trump flag and I don't get it
I don't hate but she's kind of shady. I know two people who worked with her/on her campaign and they themselves said she can be shady and lie a lot. I'm not going to go into details as its not my place but it's definitely coloured my opinion. But between her and trump, she is obviously the one who needs to triumph.

There would still be haters if she were a man. That's because no candidate is 100% perfect in every voter's eyes. There are legitimate things to dislike about her, and it's basically a given that republicans are against her, regardless of her gender.
But make no mistake that there is a large group of the population that, without changing a single thing aside from her sex, would be in favor of her candidacy.
The first group makes sense - vote third party or for the republican candidate. But it's the second group that is kind of trying to hitch their cart to the first group, and I think that's where the waters get muddy.
Clinton is just the same as so many candidates that have come before her.
Her vagina is actually a huge plus, as far as I am concerned. Because we should have a female president and a female vice president.
You know, not that anything is ever going to change, but it would be nice to have a sea change in this country and in the world at large regarding politics and economics.
I honestly think it's b/c she wasn't baking cookies in the white house when bill was president. how many first ladies before her were working mothers (of an only child no less)? I think that is the opposite of what people thought a first women should be and disliked her for that reason from the start.
I need someone who agrees with it to explain the "hawkish" argument against her. Would you be using that term for a man with her record? I honestly haven't heard it used so much ever before. Keep in mind Donald Trump wants to carpet bomb Muslim children and he isn't called hawkish as much as HRC is.

He's not hawkish, he's batshit. It would be an insult to hawkishness to paint him with that brush.
Hillary is rightfully called hawkish. She voted for the Iraq war, her policies generally favor inrervention over nonintervention in many areas, and she as Secretary of State was assertive in foreign interaction. I personally prefer tipping the balance away from hawkishness, but recognize we're in a land war in Asia, though that is ill advised, globally right now.

Agreed. okla, I don't think this is the same as a woman being called bossy and a similarly-acting man being called assertive or a good leader. I do think hawkish would apply to a man who held the same positions/record.
I don't hate but she's kind of shady. I know two people who worked with her/on her campaign and they themselves said she can be shady and lie a lot. It's not your place? What does that even mean? If you have some kind of insider knowledge, go ahead and share. That is, after all, kind of the point here. She's a public figure, so anything she's done or said as a part of her campaign is fair game.
My dad has told me he would not vote for her because everything that comes out of her mouth is a lie (because apparently Trump is the picture of truth telling?!) what he really means but know better then to say to his feminist daughter is that she is a woman.
I can't talk about it with my dad, but I have a strong feeling it's remarkably similar My IL's are Trump supporters, & have asked (always in a joking way) that we keep politics off the table, as they have seen the steam come from my ears before upon overhearing discussions. Quickly followed up by tabling any & all political discussion.
Except when they want to drop baseless claims on Hillary, of course! At the start of my comeback (my piqued interest in this thread) "Ah, ah, ah!! Politics!" (Wagging of the finger) *Extreme steam
At which point you rip their fingers off and shove them up their asses, no?
There are absolutely legitimate reasons to dislike Hillary and not want to vote for her. She has disappointed me several times in this election. However, I am a realist. NO politician will ever 100% line up with my ideals. Probably not even if I ran myself because I'd have to play the game.
HOWEVER, the majority of white people hate comes from twenty years of Republican propaganda. She probably murdered someone. She intentionally left those men in Benghazi defenseless and allowed them to die. EMAILS! (Which, I 100% do NOT understand the emails issue. I have had someone explain it to me like I am five and I still don't get it. Private server? I don't know why that matters? Confidential things. I don't know. And the majority of people adamant it is CRIMINAL don't know either, so...whatever. I'll leave that shit up to the investigators who have spent over a year trying to find something and come back with nada.) Bill's cheating. Jill Stein insinuated she doesn't have the values of a REAL mother. She's too feminine for the job, but not feminine enough for it. She's too loud, but needs to speak up. She needs to smile, but she smiles too much. She is too emotional, but she is like stone-no emotions. She's not exciting, but when her fans get excited, they need to calm down and stop rubbing it in. No matter what she does-it is too much and yet not enough.
So, yes. She is a woman in power. And a flawed woman at that. She doesn't say the perfect things, she has made huge mistakes. And yet if she was perfect, she wouldn't be real or human enough. She can't win these people over. Just like Obama couldn't. He will be a Muslim Kenyan to those people until the day they die no matter what evidence they are provided.

I don't hate her. Obviously, the large reason that I wouldn't enthusiastically vote for her is that some of her platforms don't align with some of my stances. I do think, in a corrupt political system, she tends toward the more corrupt. I don't trust her completely. But again, she's existing in a system where I don't trust most. I do think she's ridiculously intelligent, competent, ambitious and a heck of a leader and I am able to admire a lot of qualities in her. She's just not my candidate. But, to be fair and transparent, I am downright insulted by the Republican Party's idea that Trump is my candidate.
I think there are two groups People who Dislike her for legitimate reasons because she is not perfect by any definition and those who HATE her almost exclusively for nonsense reasons largely related to her being a woman and getting where she is.
I have heard the rumors of her "murdering" like 40 something people? lol. But I've seen some compare the Clintons to the Underwoods on House of Cards and I wonder how much the show may actually be hurting this campaign. People actually believe senators murder those who go against them on the regular, or presidents let civilians die in war zones because it's a political move.

those rumors/conspiracy theories have been around since LONG before House of Cards. We discussed them in one of my poli sci classes back in... well a lets just say long before House of Cards was on.
Now the show may make some people think they are more 'plausible' but I don't think it's that many people.

Agreed. She absolutely has her political flaws. But the visceral and insane blind hatred that is directed at her vs. other (male) politicians is insane.
Clinton is just the same as so many candidates that have come before her.

Oh, I know. But many of the Bernie Bros are young and will use anything to show that Hillary is a murderous crook. I've seen HoC in plenty of dumb arguments.

This is where I am at. I do believe that some of the vitrol is based on her gender, but to say it is ONLY because she is a woman is pretty dismissive of some of the real issues she has, and refuses to really do anything to change.
I don't dislike her because she is a woman...in fact, that is one of the things she has going for her when it comes to my vote. If she were a man, with her record, I would be voting even less enthusiastically.
I like a little corruption in my political candidates if they're on my side. That's bad, isn't it? It is. It's why I'm unfit for any elected office. Or the Olympics. I'd be unapologetically doping my ass off, because WINNING!
