I watched it as a child & i'm appalled looking back at it....I have zero interest in watching it now, but apparently people in my facebook feed are excited...

I admit I’m a grudge holder, but I think Roseanne Barr is trash. Some of the stuff she has done is just irredeemable, and she doesn’t seem interested in being redeemed anyways.
I admit I grew up in a very Beaver Cleaver/Brady Bunch family so the original was not something I enjoyed at all. Also, I watch TV for escape, so I don't want to watch real world every day issues for entertainment. I have no plans to watch the new one.
I caught the original show once in a while and I liked it. I like that it depicted financial insecurity, arguments, more serious issues like teen depression, but also showed a supportive and loving family, people of a certain size getting it on, realistic teen romance and sex, etc. it wasn’t a perfect show, but many of its episodes were refreshing and, for the time, fairly revolutionary. A woman insisting on seeing her vision through was pretty damned revolutionary, too.
But RB is a bizarre and baffling person, imo. I really have no desire to see the reboot or to try to understand her POV these days.

I loved it growing up. My mom and I watched together every week. I even watched a bunch of episodes several years ago when they were on TV Land or Nick at Night, and still enjoyed them. But I have no desire to watch the reboot.
Remember when she sang the anthem at the Padres game and everyone was all out of sorts because they said it was disrespectful? Bet now it's "totally fine because at least she KNOWS the words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It was the only show that I watched (I'm sure there were others that did too, but I didn't see them) that dealt with things like birth control in a way that wasn't all "a very special episode" one offs. I liked the early seasons for that, but didn't watch beyond the first few years.
Towards the end and ever since (and likely before but I didn't realize), Roseanne has revealed that she's a batshit bigot and I'm done with her forever.
Agreeing to be part of this stupid reunion show is just about the only questionable thing I can think of that John Goodman has done. I love him. Oh god please nobody ruin him for me. He’s forever tainted for re-associating himself with Roseanne.
Oh, and now I see some of the terrible things she’s said, and she’s far worse than “bizarre and baffling,” like I wrote earlier. She can fuck right off.
Nope. Not about to devote my free time to a show aimed at normalizing 45 support. Fuck that.
I didn't see the episode, but an article I read in Slate hinted that it tried to undermine Trump supporters by juxtaposing a Trump voter with the realities of blue collar living -- acceptance for a gender-queer grandchild, the realities of seeking healthcare for blue collar workers, the sparseness of jobs and failing economy, especially when it comes to promises Trump failed to keep.
The article also pointed to the original Roseanne show as one of the first family comedies created by a woman, that dealt with feminist issues (like how Roseanne and Dan both had full-time jobs, but she complained that she was the one shouldering most of the housework and parenting).
Of course, Roseanne Barr herself is a Trump supporter, so I probably won't watch the reboot based solely on that.

I refuse to watch it because of Roseanne’s unwavering support of Trump and her continued bullshit racist remarks. I will never understand why Sarah Gilbert and John Goodman and first and second Becky decided to go along with this garbage and encourage her. Let her fucking disappear into obscurity, people. And I’m side-eyeing anyone who comes in here all “shrug, I’ll watch it if it’s funny” as if the art and the artist can possibly be separated. Hell no, you’re part of the problem too.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

I read a different article, maybe NYT? It said there are jokes where Jackie calls her a deplorable and such. Normalizing to me includes the type of setting Slate describes, because the whole point is to say “see we are not Nazis, just regular (white) folks.” That is not cool, IMO.

Seriously. You don’t see anyone clamoring for a Cosby show reboot.
Yeah, it was never much-watch for me, but I appreciated that it was a working class family presented without shame, even if they often struggled. There was also a frank look at birth control and teen sex. I haven't watched it in 20 years, but at the time I don't know that it was stereotyping as much as humanizing those who get written off with those stereotypes. Plus it brought us John Goodman and George Clooney.
Roseanne Barr is a garbage human, however.
Eta: I'm not going to watch, and would advocate against it, I'm responding to the characterization of the original show in the opinion piece.

Honestly, I wasn’t aware of her past comments and hate.

I never really enjoyed it when it was in, and my mom definitely discouraged us from watching it because of how insane she is. I have no interest in the reboot, especially seeing for myself that she’s so awful.
