The flu shot has been a topic of debate in my circle lately. So I’m curious: are you planning to or have you gotten it already? If you aren’t planning to get it, why not?
I got mine last week, DD got hers yesterday and H is getting his next week. We are obviously big proponents for it. My H works in healthcare and this year it is mandatory for all employees, whether they have patient contact or not. I’m glad they encourage it, but I’m a little surprised it is mandatory (except for medical or religious exemptions).
Our neighbor is a teacher and she’s “anti-flu shot”, along with a lot of my coworkers and I definitely judge them. H has said neighbor is not allowed to visit the baby until the spring. I also think that’s a little extreme, but we’ll see.
My H got his yesterday, A got part 1 today - she’ll go back in a month for a second dose since this is her first time. I tried today but needed a steroid shot instead so I’m going this weekend.
Our appointment is next week I think? I scheduled it a while back for the same time as my sons well visit. We've had it every year except the year there was a big shortage, and I got the flu that year and it is the WORST. I got it again when DS was a few months old and a weird strain that wasnt in the vaccine took out my whole office.
When I was a kid our neighbors baby died of the flu, my mom made us get it every year and now I do the same. When I got it when DS was a newborn it was terrifying. I moved into the spare bedroom since he shared our room and didnt touch him for days until I was better. I was so scared I'd give it to him and he would die.
We all got them already. We will be flying in a few weeks, so I wanted us to have them. K has viral asthma, so anything we can do to lessen the severity of an illness, I will do.
My MIL has permanent heart damage due to the swine flu in '68, so I take this seriously. I had some sort of virus a few years ago, might have been the flu, with my temps mainly 103s to 104s, but I was over 105 too. It took me months to get back into things at the gym and my trainer felt like my cardio never quite recovered.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

DS and I both got them a few weeks ago. I always get mine. Had the flu back in college and have never been so sick. Plus with all the germy things I encounter for work and DS at school it's a non negotiable for me
Yes. We've all gotten one except DH and he's going this weekend.
And I don't think it's overkill to say that someone who hasn't had the vaccine can't have close contact with an infant. The flu can be really dangerous for babies.

I’m waiting for my kids’ doctor office to get them in. Have people taken their kids into, like, Walgreens and had them done? They’re 8, 6, 4 and 2 fwiw. H and I are getting ours no later than Monday. We have a sitter, lol, so that’s on the agenda!
Debate. Rage. I haven't gotten mine yet because I'm still getting iver what is likely pneumonia which was secondary to what I SWEAR was the flu even though the test was negative. Ironically I missed work's flu shot clinic because I was home sick. Whomp whomp.
I'm required for both school and work (I work in healthcare) but I'm a big proponent of it anyway. Not just for the herd immunity which is a big enough reason on its own, but also because if you get the flu anyway, it is milder and shorter.
My son already has his, and I'll get mine in a couple weeks when I'm back in town.

I got DS1's (3) done at King Soopers yesterday. It was great. We happened to be at the grocery store, so we popped in. No wait and the doctor did a nice job with him.
Our pedi is kind of far away and I didn't want to drive him in just for that.

Excellent! I’ll drag the kids and H out for a family flu shot this weekend.

She did ask me if he was over 3, so you might call and check first. I'm only concerned that your youngest might be too young for a walk in clinic like that.
We can't get into the pedi before we move. And PA doesn't let pharmacists give the shot to kids. But, we are soon moving to a state that we can get them at the pharmacy and I will match all of them into the pharmacy to get them
We all get it every year. Our base doesn’t have it available yet, and if they still don’t have it next week we’ll just go to Walgreens or someplace like that.
Last year the day after christmas I came down with the flu and my symptoms were much less severe and shorter than people who hadn't had the shot according to my doctor. Also, my H and kids did not catch it.
Not yet - oncology didn’t have them in yet and I left my job before the clinic started on Monday. I tried to get it at two different pharmacies on Saturday and failed as my insurance company’s system wasn’t talking to the pharmacy systems.

DD and I got ours last Friday and DH got his Sunday after church. DDs principal and 2 teachers have already had the flu so we went right away! No messing around here!

He has his well child check later this month, so I can get it then. I just know we’d like it sooner rather than later.

The flu hit our community hard last year around Christmas as well and everyone who got the flu shot seemed to have milder versions

The kids got theirs this past Saturday, and I will get mine next Friday. Last year, they didn't provide them at school for some reason, and I never ended up getting one. I was lucky and didn't get the flu. They are bringing someone in again, for which I'm grateful.
