I accidentally read until 1 am. Then I remembered I hadn’t switched the laundry and did that at 1:15 am. Then my H was hacking up a lung from about 2-4 am. I got maybe two hours of sleep and I am not really functioning well today.

Solidarity krystee. L woke up at 1 and wanted to hold my hand to go back to sleep...long story short after 2 hours of that, him lying on me in my bed, informing me my pillow was his pillow and finally telling me he wanted to go back to his crib I am also struggling over here.
Good news is I'm WFH today. Annoying news is that I'm WFH because we're having windows installed, and they just called to say "the guys" are late getting back from another city so won't be here by 11:30 as planned and could it be another day instead? I said no, it can be later but has to be today, so cross your fingers that it actually happens!
The kid's last day of school was Friday. We left for a weekend trip with friends on Saturday, got home yesterday. It was a great way to "kick off" summer, but man I wish I had an extra day off. I'm soooo not in the mood to work today.
Our home alarm started going off at 5am this morning. H went and checked it, and everything seemed okay, but I had to disarm it from my phone and click the "don't send the police" button. I was able to go back to sleep for a little bit after that whole event but not for as long as I wanted to.
A person on my street blasted music all weekend and claims it’s for retaliation of people talking about her. No one cares about her and we just want her to STFU. They are trying to sell and it’s listed as coming soon. I’m sure people driving by wondered WTH was going on with some heavy metal music blaring swear words and the place looking like it hasn’t been maintained in years.
This weekend was a perfect example of why every weekend should be three days- a day each for fun, relaxing, and being productive. Sat was fancy lunch and a matinee of Beetlejuice, Sun was all relaxing, and yesterday was powerwashing and laundry.
Currently trying to figure out whether I can make every weekend a three day weekend over the summer....
I'm hosting Book Club tomorrow night, but I'm only a little more than halfway through the book (oops). I have another 150 pages to read. I can get through it tonight, right? RIGHT?
We had such a good weekend (golf, a bike ride, power washed the deck, had friends over), and I'm at the office today completely unmotivated for the meetings that I have back-to-back starting in 15 min.

My DS slept through the night and is still sleeping! We kept him up later than normal. I am able to get some work done in peace. I’m excited at nearly 8 we are having more nights of full sleep. I never thought we would get to this day
man, what a perfect long weekend and kick off to summer. The weather was perfection, the friends and fun were perfection, but we should have been more productive with house stuff. Though we did get the big projects done we had planned on.
I did the Murph challenge yesterday (1 mile run, 100 pulls ups <I did them modified>, 200 pushups <on my knees>, and 300 squats, followed by another 1 mile run) and I came in 5th overall and 1st in my age group (nothing official). It was my second time doing it, and I broke it into chunks of 100 (so 100 pull ups, then 100 pushups, 150 squats, 100 pushups, 150 squats) rather than in smaller chunks of 5 pull ups, 10 pushups, 20 squats which is what everyone else did. I am really proud of myself; my goal was to finish in an hour and I finished in 48 minutes.

Dd has been battling allergies and losing since last week so we are headed back to the pedi today to rule out a sinus infection. She is supposed to get an expander tomorrow. Kind of a crummy way to start her summer! I’m bummed for her that we aren’t at the pool 24/7 this week.
On the upside, she auditioned for a ballet program last week and made a level above what we thought was even a possibility so she’s very excited! She will be the youngest in that group by over a year but she is super talented and works really hard. After a rough end to 5th grade at school, it was so nice to have her talent and dedication recognized like that. Her teachers and ballet coach believe in her and it makes all the difference.
We went to the Boston Calling music festival (thank you to everyone who gave me tips a while back). It was fun and the music was great, but I'm definitely too old to be sitting on the ground/standing in lines/standing in general for hours every day. And the crowds. OMG the crowds.
Disappointing parts - I was way too far back to really hear or see Alanis, Fletcher was playing at the same time as Noah Kahan so I missed her. Great parts - Noah Kahan was fantastic and so emotional, Paramore rocked, so many other great performances and even though there were too damn many people, everyone was pleasant and chill.

For me, it would depend on how compelling I found the book. A good book, I can easily do 150 pages in a day. If I'm only meh on the book, that would be a big ask.

Meanwhile my just turned 8 year old woke up crying twice last night with bad dreams. And she's my good sleeper, DD2 still wakes up overnight too. Between the 2 of them, I feel like we very rarely get a full night of sleep. I'm so tired. <sob>
We had no plans for the weekend but it ended up being super busy anyway. Sat was garden store and yardwork, Sun was an impromptu BBQ with neighbors, Mon was grocery store, errands and outlet mall for H to get some new clothes. It was all good stuff, but I realize I need more downtime and I rarely get it, which leaves me feeling overscheduled all the time. I wish I was one of those people who loves being busy.
We had a moment at the BBQ that made me so proud of my kids. I had served the last of the lemonade I had to the kids (they wanted a special drink since I made sangria for the adults). Neighbor kid spilled hers immediately and was so sad. I felt awful since I didn't have anymore. DD2 (age 4) says "I didn't drink mine yet, you can have some!" and then poured half her drink into her friend's empty cup. My heart beamed, it was the sweetest thing. It feels good to know we're raising good kids.
A high school acqaintance still takes monthly pictures of both of her kids with the same stuffed animal and posts them on Facebook. For some reason, when, on occasion, I log in there, it shows them to me.

As in like the monthly photos some people take the first year of their baby's life? Weird indeed.
We’re on our last full day visiting DH’s dad and step mom. They’re very nice but I’m ready to go home. We have to sleep on a full sized bed in a room with Barbies on shelves on every wall. DH is a big guy and a full sized bed is not comfortable. DH’s step mom is so nice but she talks non stop and follows me everywhere I go to talk more. I need downtime, I like a little time by myself and I can’t get that unless I go sit in the Barbie room.
It's the last week of school here, too- and the return of an annual middle school specific annoyance- no backpacks allowed duri g the last week. Small purses (amd the like, whatever that means) are okay.
They still have to bring laptop/brick, phone, writing supplies/notebooks, water bottles, lunches, various IDs/passes/crap, but no large bags allowed. I sent DD with a water sling (with a big pocket), and a small tote bag- she said the door woman grumbled about the tote, but ultimately let her through (FFS).
Apparently half the kids showed up with backpacks anyway.
One more year of middle school. One more dumb year.
This weekend is E's recital, so dress rehearsal on Friday, recital on Saturday. Throw in a Saturday morning birthday party and it's packed.
Also, my mom will not be at the recital because we got our dates crossed and she's going to a genealogy conference. Pour one out for that ticket cost and fees.

It could be kind of cute if they did it once a year and it was the same one from the monthly baby pictures. But once a MONTH? Jesus.

You know you are a band geek when you have been on hold for so long that you start humming along with the "rhythmic music" and get to the point when you know the exact timing.

We took our oldest to see Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 this past weekend and I’m still feeling emotionally bruised. My kid very weirdly told me afterward that she liked watching my face during the movie because, “You’re so into it.”
Eyes on the screen, darling weirdo of mine. Let mom cry in peace.

What? Why? If they still have homework and need books/etc, this is asinine. If they give up any pretense of being productive for the last week, then I guess it would make sense...

We had such a great weekend and I'm dragging today. Got all of our planting/landscaping done, went for a hike with the dog, took DS for hibachi for his birthday and had my parents over for dinner last for yet another birthday celebration for DS.
My mom just called to let me know they took my grandma to the hospital this morning. She hasn't been feeling well but I don't really know what's going on yet.
