I’m up early with travel anxiety, lol We fly to London overnight tonight for a week. I’ve been so slammed at work this week that I haven’t had the bandwidth to even think about packing or anything. So I’ll be doing that today and cleaning to get ready for the dog sitter.
When I had looked at the weather a week or so ago, it looked like it was going to be fairly chilly. But now I see highs in the upper 60s. But that’s a temperature that I feel like can either feel warmer than you’d think or cooler than you’d think. mrsukyankee - what do you recommend for walking around outside these days there? Light sweater with an optional jacket? Short sleeve with a jacket? My jacket in question is also kind of a rain jacket since I’ve been told showers can pop up often.
TR, Jealous! I hope you have a great week. When we went to Ireland last September we ended up being in a heat wave and had fortunately packed one pair of shorts each, but wore them almost every dang day!
This weekend is going to be bonkers. Two softball games, a band contest (that I am chaperoning….at 7 am on a Saturday….save me), and possibly a birthday party. All by 3 pm tomorrow.

TR, have so much fun! We were in London in April and it was amazingly beautiful. Low to mid 60’s every day and it never rained once. The locals said that was not normal. We wore layers. I did a long sleeve tshirt or regular tshirt with a light sweater or cardigan over it every day and was perfectly comfortable. At night I wore my coat too.

I sent a MyChart message to my doctor yesterday asking about being on an anti-anxiety med. She gave me Xanax at my appointment on Monday, but I feel like I need an everyday med right now. We are going to talk early next week about Zoloft. Has anyone been on it and does it take the edge off?
I got my hair dyed with the "expensive brunette" trend, a fresh, cute strawberry manicure, a surprise business class upgrade on the train to NYC this morning and I'm going to see Billy Joel tonight at MSG, a hotel bed all to myself and no child, dog or husband to be responsible for today. 🎉🥳

The kids are all dropped off at school. I need to workout and then pack. Going to visit friends this weekend. We are going to a wine festival tomorrow and the weather should be near perfect. We have matching shirts too from that cinematic classic Stepbrothers.
dancingirl21, I was on Zoloft for PPD and it did take the edge off my anxiety, for sure. I remember having trouble sleeping though when I started it, which was annoying and made me more anxious, but my Dr. gave me Ambien to help me work through that and I adjusted.

The work week before vacation is the worst! DH and I leave for Cancun tomorrow morning, so I just need to get through this day and I'm free for a week. I'm only here until 3 because I need to take the dog to the kennel for boarding by 5. She is not a fan, so I'm always so sad to leave her. I need to finish packing when I get home and I'll probably vacuum the house so we can come back to it semi clean.

We went to brunch on Sunday (a place in our neighborhood we’ve gone a few times). They had a couple things that were topped with strawberries. They also had sides one of which was bacon for $6. So our daughter was with us. So I said I see you have items with strawberries could we just have a small side of strawberries for our daughter. And she said ok I can do a small side of fruit. I then said she doesn’t eat bacon could we have a small side of grilled chicken or salmon? She said yes, we can do a small side of grilled chicken. Ok Great.
Well the fruit and chicken came out as $15 each as "open food." So our daughters meal cost $30! Thankfully she actually ate most of it so it didn’t go to waste. But definitely lesson learned in regards to ordering sides/stuff that isn’t on the menu. We do that pretty regularly but will def ask about pricing going forward! I don’t mind paying a lot for good food, but def not ready to pay $30 for a toddler meal of fruit and grilled chicken.

I take 50mg everyday. It helps me so much. It takes a few weeks to really kick in, but it has been life changing for me. It enables me to use other tools I have to manage my anxiety and emotions and life.
I’ve decided to apply to grad school…I’m applying to three schools, and if I get accepted, I think I’m going to quit my job to attend full time starting with the fall semester. I’d rather get it done in one year versus dragging it out over two years while working and being exhausted. I’m terrified at the idea of being out of the workforce for a year, but also really excited about it. We could afford to pay for the program without having to take out loans, and FI is fully on board with me doing this. I really think it would be good for me to take this step, but I’m still scared. We’d also have to get married before I quit so I could get on his health insurance, but that’s fine too. I filled out all the applications, uploaded all my documentation, wrote all the personal statements…I just need to confirm with the two people I’d like to use for letters of recommendation that they’re willing to write them, and then I can submit the apps. I’m so nervous.
There is sunshine for the 2nd day in a row. I feel like I have more energy when it is not gloomy. Sadly, the weekend looks like rain and gray once again. Looking forward to hot yoga this afternoon and grocery pickup, then a quiet evening.
dancingirl21, I think that is a perfect way to describe Zoloft. I tried to take myself off of it recently and went right back on, when even little things were (once again) making me feel on edge. I am a kinder person when I am on it.

So glad it's Friday. DS's first baseball tournament of the season is this weekend, so I'm looking forward to that. It's at a baseball complex in our small city (suburban city of a midsize metro city), so only 10 minutes away, which means we can go home in between his 2 games on Saturday.
I bought a LifeStraw water bottle for my upcoming trip to Brazil. I saw a recommendation on the US Dept of State website that recommends getting an Rx for an antimalarial med one for "traveler's diarrhea." So I will send them a MyChart message today to inquire about those.

I feel like they probably did not charge you correctly for that. That pricing is insane. Sides like that should not cost more than a meal, especially brunch.

I Hope you’re on an Acela! The food is actually really good. My partner takes the train so much that we always take Acela and upgrade to business cause he has points/status and it’s my fav ever. Keep the drinks flowing!

I waited too long to buy my ticket, so I'm on the regular train. But just being on a train alone for 2 hours is heaven right now, haha. Thank you!!

I specifically asked the server about the charges and that’s what they told me :/ I guess I could’ve escalated it to a manager especially since go there often but we had somewhere to be so I just let it go. Will def be more diligent next time!

Yes that sounds amazing! Have a great time. I’m taking train tomorrow…but with the toddler whomp whomp.
I went to a panel discussion last night and the people who were there were such a weird overlap of several different groups of people that I know through work/school/a professional organization that I'm a part of. It was actually really fun to see all of them since most I don't see often. I'm glad I've built a professional network in my field, and that there are so many nice people who I genuinely enjoy being around that are a part of it!
Two of the students from my recent study abroad trip were there and we also decided to plan a graduation dinner or something fun for the two of us that are graduating in May. I wasn't really going to do anything to celebrate graduating so this is a nice idea. I don't know why I feel so nonchalant about graduation - I guess it's because my first master's degree was SO MUCH HARDER so it felt like a much bigger accomplishment, plus graduating meant finding a better job and this time it changes nothing really. But I am also always up for an excuse to do something fun!

I bet your kid will make an amazing mini travel buddy soon! My guy is super fun to even do the hustling part of travel with! But not having to make sure I know where the closest bathroom is, whether or not I've packed all the important snuggle items and making sure the tablet is charged is something I haven't had the luxury of for 6 years now! 😂
