Also you will pay taxes on the money in 2013 as you are a cash basis taxpayer and you pay when you receive, not earn. I know since I work for a tax research organization.

The Feds will probably take closer to 50%, not 25%. If you gift more than $13,000, you will need to file a gift tax return. You won't have to pay taxes on the gift due to the Lifetime Gifting Exclusion.

I'm so jealous and happy for you! The relative is definitely taking advantage of the Lifetime gift exclusion as they should! It probably won't see $5mil in the next 4 years.

You can't beat 50 cent avocados and 79 cent pomegranates. Plus their dairy at mine is usually dated SO far out compared to the "regular" grocery stores near me. Love it. Wish it was closer to me though.

Thanks for all the comments! I'm really tempted to purchase but I'm gonna check out those stores first. I want to know I'm getting quality for that price.

I had to share with you all that a couple of weeks ago we adopted our 3rd beagle (yes we are hoarders) and I went to Petco to get a harness and a toy so he would have something of his own. They have Kong "Wild Knots" toys there including a special green or red Christmas Teddy bear. We got him the green one.
It has been 3 weeks and that toy is full of slobber, but other than that still 100% intact. It gets played with EVERY day by all 3 dogs. Lots of tug of war and love. Gunner (the new dog), trots around with that thing.
Petco will have their Kong stuff Buy 1 get 1 50% off on Black Friday. I've only seen the green/red bears there. Not on Amazon or anywhere else. Also Doggyloot has their Wild Knot chickens on sale for $9. I just ordered 1, so hopefully it holds up just as well! I know I am going to get 1 more bear and put it away for next year since it is such a good toy.
Thought I would share. And not to shill too much, but if you want to order from DoggyLoot, if you use my link below, you get $5 off and I get credit too.

I buy from UW Provisions. I feed mostly chicken necks (bone meal) and then different types of hearts. I just added a 3rd (yeah I am a dog hoarder), so we are doing chicken thighs to start.

After paying my CC I am going to go with the cheaper one. I like my current fall purse and winter purse I have from last year, so the shopper will be a nice addition for my spring purses. Thanks all!

Preface: I have no kids and plan to not have any. I am clueless.
For some upcoming birthdays & Christmas, I am looking to give a book and a check/bond towards college. I need help with books!
I need book recommendations for age 6, 3 and 1. edit to include: all boys
I have 3 nephews who all turn 6 in Nov (ack) and the 3 & 1 are younger siblings, so those books will need to be somewhat obscure to ensure they don't already have those books.
I did the Elf in a Box thing last year and that went over REALLY well.
I like this one, but not enough to buy it. It isn't my style nor does it scream to me. I think I will get the first one, but I love that chocolate brown so much too (2).
