This may have been answered already, I'm still on page 2... However, there's a message at the end of every show that says something to the effect of "if you're the owner of a failing business and you want Ramsey's help call/email us".
I checked out the site once, you have to prove that you're the business owner as you nominate yourself.
All of the kitchen shows that I checked out require the owner to nominate themselves.
I have to prove it? Damnit. I just want Gordon Ramsey hanging about my house for a while.
LOL. I think there's a pretty long line.
My mom works at a restaurant that is going downhill. It's a $$$$ restaurant but the owner is starting to skimp on product, there is more bought in than they make, the cleanliness is going downhill and the owner ends up comping a ton of money every night. I was going to nominate the restaurant but I didn't have the information to fill out the form and there's no way the owner would nominate himself. He'll just keep taking money from his wife's parents and sink them all before he'll admit failure. Shame, it used to be a really, really good restaurant.
Non-snarky question: how does this restaurant stay in business if the food and service are so hideous? I'm honestly confused.
The show usually starts with the owners weeping that they've sunk $100k of their retirement fund into keeping the business afloat as the camera pans out to an empty dining room.

I'm legit LOL at this. ETA: I'm laughing at the concept, not your response! Just to be clear and whatnot.
ETA2: Wait, I think my edit muddied the waters. I'm laughing at the slow pan of the camera to the empty dining room. Not you. Or your response. Or anyone in particular. I'm going to go have a drink.
please tell me they're referring to their cats as their children (something i would never condone under normal circumstances) instead of saying their real children think they're cats.
LOL
Although, my real child thinks she's a cat. She ate dinner from a bowl on the floor last night while meowing.
Scarlett has an alter ego better known as sassy cat. We sing "everybody, everybody, everybody wants to be a cat!" All the damn time.

I'm a fan of all Gordon Ramsay's shows, but Kitchen Nightmares hasn't been very good lately. This episode was awesome though, and even more so given the aftermath!
The fact that they had to have nominated themselves, plus their attitude at the beginning of the show makes me think that they expected Ramsay to come in and say "Everything is awesome - it's clearly these internet haters who are ruining your business. Let me use my celebrity power to get all those negative reviews removed."
Right? Which shows just how delusional/cray cray these people are. smh

Apparently people really like the desserts. I read some yelp reviews saying they'd bought them to go for years before they actually stayed for a (nasty) meal.
Do they really make the desserts or not? This is a very critical question.
Not.

She claimed she made them in the site, but on Facebook she said she just didn't admit to Ramsey because he's not American and wouldn't understand.
On top of the shit I hope comes their way with stealing tips and pictures,i hope they're investigated for discrimination. I'm Phoenix they only had young white girls working. I'd be shocked if there's a kitchen in that city that doesn't have at least one Hispanic employee. I didn't think much of it at first, but after the yelp reviews of experienced racism, crazy lady saying everyone was dirty and lazy, and then rewatching (yes,I made h watch), it jumped out at me.
I so, so much want to believe that this is real and not a put on or publicity stunt, but I'm struggling. I can't see how anyone can be as crazy and delusional as she appears to be and still function in society. More importantly, I can't see how they keep any staff for more than 2 minutes, and that's what makes me the most suspicious. I get that they emphasized high turnover, but those people stayed for months or longer.
If I'm hired as a server and then find out I don't get to keep my tips, I'm gone--right now. It's not like server jobs are hard to come by, and even if you're being paid $8-$14/hour like they said on the show, you'll do better somewhere else where you get to keep your tips and not be abused all day. It just doesn't make any sense.

I think it's real - the reviews from all the way back in 2010 say the same thing, and three years is a long time to put on this kind of craziness for publicity. The show was just filmed recently, so that would mean they've been doing this for years in preparation for maybe, possibly getting on a TV show.
As for the servers, I think there's a reason their servers seem to be primarily very young. They probably don't know any better or don't know how easy it would be to get another job elsewhere.
I loved that Sammy demanded payment from a customer that didn't even get their food yet.
I think it's the same guy who wrote about his experience that I linked a bit upthread. He apparently did have drinks, but the producer was all this shit is cray, get out of here, we'll take care of it.

I'm thinking it's real too. They were clear that they've been through at least 100 employees in the past year. That's roughly 3 and a half days per person. Granted some did stay for over a month, but that also means that some walked before they even knew where the bathroom is located.
