I agree that the details you've shared make this opportunity sound like a potential scam, and I encourage you to be wary of things that sound too good to be true. On the bright side, you are getting great experience interacting with interviewers. And congrats on the other interviewers calling!

I, too, feel this sounds like a scam. I would be very suspicious. Go to the second interview, but bring a LOT of questions with you (many PPs have asked some very good questions you need answers to). Be skeptical. And if they would offer you any position tomorrow, I would tell them you want to think about it.

"I worked with Primerica for a while. It is a multi-level marketing scheme where you work your life away recruitiing and harassing friends and family to join your company under you and or let you refinance their house and sell them life insurance. They will invite you to a very pumped up, testimonial driven recruiting meeting and tell you all of these great stories about big money and taking control of your future. They will show you their nice cars and their big checks etc. Don't do it. You will waste alot of your time making the people above you money and not much for yourself. You will still need another source of income because it is 100% commission based. Yes, they will ask you for two hundred dollars to get started with them. No you will never see it again. Any real job will pay you to be there, not make you pay them? If that's not obvious enough I don't know what is! Good luck with the everything."

I really truly don't understand why you don't make copies of your resume and hand it out at businesses in town, that you know are legit, and go from there?
This whole "poor me, I'm such a sucky person" act is really getting old. Especially for a grown adult. If you were 15/16? I could see.
Are there any job centers in your area? They may be connected with your local unemployment agency. Are you getting any resume or interviewing assistance through your alma mater?

You think I don't do that? I do more than just sit on my ass and browse jobs. I'm getting my resume out there, gotten a few phone calls, went out at new business openings, slipped them my resume, etc.
I remember a quote that said "Employers want to hire those already employed, they don't want to hire someone out of work even a day."
I'm still truckin' though. This is just a minor setback, that's all.

Have you ever done this for something more than retail? If yes, has it worked? In the age of the internet, I am legit curious if old fashioned "Here's My Resume" in-person cold calling actually works.
I'm sorry, simply. There is nothing worse than that feeling of being excited for something and then finding out it's not true.
I'm not trying to be rude, but.. Did you not google the company before you went to the interview? I mean, that's pretty standard, no?
I did. I went to their website to gather information. What I DIDN'T do was look at the reviews before the interview. Really wished I had. That way, yesterday would've been a blessing.

No, they wouldn't lol. It would be bad for them, if it wasn't for their consumers already making them look bad. No, lesson learned. Read the reviews before amping up for nothing.
Oh it's Primerica?? I was with them very briefly, went to a training conference with my very young son and was harassed by a middle aged prissy bitch who told me "You had better keep HIM away from the front, last time we couldn't HEAR anything." I about decked her one visually and then left.
