I really truly don't understand why you don't make copies of your resume and hand it out at businesses in town, that you know are legit, and go from there?
This whole "poor me, I'm such a sucky person" act is really getting old. Especially for a grown adult. If you were 15/16? I could see.
Have you ever done this for something more than retail? If yes, has it worked? In the age of the internet, I am legit curious if old fashioned "Here's My Resume" in-person cold calling actually works.
The last job I had, I did. The last interview I did as well.
It's hit or miss, but if she has her resume out there with companies she'd like to work with, it's better than waiting around for a position to open up online. It can't hurt her to have a resume on file with them. Handing them your resume doesn't mean you stand a better chance at getting the job, but at least they have it.

Well, the good news is that you have learned this lesson before it really cost you anything. And now, you can focus on finding a legit job that won't run you into the ground.

It's ok to ask questions before you go on interviews so you can see if its even worth your time. Legitimate companies will be forthright with the info.
I hate to be a bitch but I am fascinated that you have managed to survive this long on earth.
The glee that some of you get out of mocking this girl is really fucking gross.
I wouldn't say people get glee out of it, I'm sure some do. But L&L was called out for all her bullshit "oh no, my life!" posts. And Simply is really kind of the same way. In her world, everything goes wrong, all the time.
This has been an on going saga with her. I think we all hope she gets a job but she really isn't going about this in a thoughtful manner.

Simply, i'm sorry this is a let down.. but if anything at all,I hope you're learning some stuff from this message board and on job interviews/job searches?
Honestly, I think some people are being unnecessarily harsh.

I'd rather be nice to someone who appears to be making an effort, EVEN IF there is a small chance that person is not real, than a bitch just because. It takes me almost no time and I'd rather my efforts go to encouraging someone rather than pushing them down.

Yeah, but that wasn't what this post was. She wasn't "oh woe is me" this time. She was excited. Yeah, it sounds like a scam, but the point is that she was trying, and she still got ragged on. But really, let's be honest, she was going to get ragged on no matter what she said. If it wasn't this, it would be that the job she was applying for was too menial, or she didn't qualify for it, etc. She couldn't possibly win, no matter what.

I save my ire for the truly evil, like ashbride.
careful, if you say her name three times she might appear

I think at this point she needs to look at ALL jobs available, even menial ones in order to gain some independence and to be able to separate from her husband. Even if that means working a job like retail or back at a different sandwich shop.
Sorry if that makes me an asshole. Every other person I've been skeptical of has turned out to be less than truthful, so I feel like my radar is pretty good.
I'm sorry it didn't work out. I was unemployed when job hunting a few years ago and it was hard to get anywhere. I was trying to apply to at least five jobs a day online and use my family and friends as contacts. I finally got an interview/offer through one random job application I put in but it took 5 months. In the meantime I worked retail.
I don't want to make you feel worse, but definitely note that it's not common to be recruited unless you've had significant time/talent in that industry, and if a job could really pay six figures in two years they would be drowning in applicants (myself included!) and wouldn't need to sell you on it.

So this.
In sorry this one did t work out, but take it as interview and learning experience.
A legit staffing agency can be awesome. That is how I got my job 8 years ago, and I have grown it into a career. I would look up staffing agencies , read reviews on them, and call them/submit your resume to them. You are not going to make a billion dollars when you start out, and there aren't going to be benefits/PTO, but if you work your ass off you can get hired on and end up with more $$ and benefits.

I don't get any glee out of this. I just can't wrap my head around the way this chick functions. Its like she's been under a rock her whole life and just came out yesterday. Did someone take care of her from birth up until now so she didn't have to do things? I don't get it.
Try googling your town's name & "call center." They'll often hire entry level positions, and there's a chance of upward mobility so you can get experience with supervising, etc.

When I first moved to my town I hand-delivered my resumes to exactly three law offices. My phone was ringing when I got home and I was interviewed and hired the next day. Granted, that was nearly 18 years ago, but sometimes it's all in the timing. When people drop off resumes I always save them "just in case." If an opening comes up in our office, or another office calls asking if I know of anyone looking for work, I go through them. IMO, there is nothing to lose by cold calling in person (as long as one is appropriately dressed when doing so).

Having been a social worker at one point in my life, I can promise you that there are lots of people out there like this. Good people, kind people, but incredibly naïve and have difficulties seeing the big picture some times kind of people.
