OMG I want to apologize for Trump to everyone I meet. I mean the man needs a person who walks in front of him and apologizes to everyone he meets in advance as well as a person who follows him and cleans up the fall out.
I'm not sure if it has to do with being white, or just because I feel somehow in some way responsible for this scourge on humanity.
He is a disgusting pile of human shit in a skin suit. Really. It deserves all apologies.
Not only is he a Xenophobic, Abusive, Racist, Bigoted, Bully,Misogynist,Thief, Liar, Rapist.... he is also somehow charismatic enough to get a BUNCH of people to overlook those facts.
Now I don't know HOW to apologize without being super awkward. But MAN I am so so so fucking sorry everyone. Really. I will do anything and everything to prevent THAT from happening again.
Just like the other post is no longer about cute kids, this is no longer a flame free racial thread.
As @246baje already said, the point of bumping was to demonstrate that it's been over a year, the WOC here have already tried the patient and gentle approach even though that's not their responsibility, and we're still promising to do better but it's looking pretty insincere.
Um, what? Are we no longer allowed to have talks about race in this thread because 246baje bumped this for another purpose?
There are serious conversations going on in here. Conversations that should be happening! Why would we want to stop that?
I think we all saw the point that 246baje made and I know I felt guilt that it was still happening a year later. But that doesn't make followup conversations less valid.

I thought 246baje bumped this so we would continue to have further conversations. I understand that shit is still happening a year later. People will continue to suck until the end of time. It's just maybe by now we could suck.. ya know... less?

I see what you're saying. I do think the conversations are important. However, I think that IN THIS THREAD they're distracting from @246baje's important point. Like Anna said she didn't even see it.
I've been traveling and missed most of the foolishness that has happened recently.
I wanted to bump this so that people can look and see the date that this was originally posted. Note that over a year ago we had several come to Jesus talks and educational racial threads with no flames.
The women of colour have done our part. We are leaving y'all to do yours.

I thought Anna was being facetious? She was the first person to post after baje's bump?

Baje bumped it to show the the women on this board have tried and have been trying for a VERY long time to help us. They've done what we asked of them (give help when we asked, been "calm" instead of "rage-y") etc and it still isn't improving.
First, thank you for everyone to be willing to be open. I'll admit I have not read the whole post because I haven't had time to sit down, focus and process. But here's my thoughts and questions. Where do we go from here to unify our country? I feel like there are so many issues and some of it the media stirs up. Sometimes I feel like we are going backwards than making progress to end racism. Will be ever be able to end it? Or will people's unconscious bias always prevail? Growing up I lived in the city with a lot of diversity. I didn't see color as a child. We played with everyone the same. Is this really a good answer to what's going on today? I'm just as concerned about black on black crime and yet I feel like it gets no media attention. While I feel like the stories need to be told is it doing more harm than good? In every race, job, etc there are good people and their are rotten people. If we focused on the good and how people of all races and color are coming together would it help end racism? But then are we not focusing on what needs to be changed in our country.

Fuck dude no to the bolded.
I beg you to stop here and immerse yourself in reading. Take the time to read the whole post or any of the other resources. I get that you want to learn, and it'd be better if you do some reading and observing.
Are you saying this because my questions have been answered or because I sound ignorant? And I ask genuinely because it's hard to read tone.
You sound ignorant. You didn't see color as a child? You're concerned about black on black crime? Seriously?
I have avoided joining this thread but seriously, this is fucking ridiculous. luckyno7, you need to apologize for saying stupid, racist stuff. Then please (1) do not say anything else, and ESPECIALLY do not try to justify your paragraph above; (2) go google some or all of the following: "how to be a white ally," "how not to commit racial microaggressions," "how the media is racially biased against people of color" or other phrases of your choosing; and (3) read the articles that come up and think about what they say.

Comments like this are extremely problematic and racist in their own right. As Poppy said, you really need to read this entire thread RIGHT NOW before further commenting.

Basically. The whole point of this week is that it is not up to people of colour to answer your questions. White people shouldn't be making it POC job to teach us how to be nice to them, to be accepting, to not be offensive. You can read. It is not the victims job to explain to the aggressor why they were bad and how to atone.
Children need to see colour and understand. Go read a post about books for kids. (It's in today's list of posts)
pizzanight I do want to learn which is why I posted. My heart hurts when I hear about the crime in south Chicago. I wish there was an easy fix. In regards to a 5 year old I only meant that they are naive and there not hate (in most cases). Our children need to know the history I agree 100% and understand our differences.
My ignorance came through. What I was trying to ask was big picture. How do we fix
pizzanight I do want to learn which is why I posted. My heart hurts when I hear about the crime in south Chicago. I wish there was an easy fix. In regards to a 5 year old I only meant you don't have the history in which everyone gets along.
But you realize this is not about race - well, the lack of media coverage is, but it's about the systemic social factors that have created these environments??

STOP! Go back read this thread and the others that are currently on here and learn something.
I'm glad many of the woc on these boards have peaced out of this thread. I'm thankful they aren't reading this right now.
And this underscores why I'm firmly committed to speaking up and trying to do my best within my (white) community, because it is not the responsibility of poc to go round and round answering these same questions over and over. I'm tired and I often feel defeated but I'm not giving up - I have no right to do so.

I agree. I asked the wrong questions and I'll admit to that. This forum has got me thinking a lot. I don't know what I can do to help. I realize I need to educate myself better....and read.
Look, if you think a possible solution to racism is "just be friends with everyone regardless of race!" then you really don't understand racism at all.
luckyno7 , your use of the phrase "black on black crime" tells me you've been talking to the wrong people about these issues. Pull up a chair, read through this thread and then go to CEP and read the various threads and resources linked in the sticky post. Take some time to read and digest the information and various points of view. I'll be shocked if you don't learn something by the end.
I should add, assuming you're sincere about wanting to be educated about these issues.

I definitely will. I have already realized my line of thinking is wrong. In 5 minutes this forum has made me realize the problem that I thought we had in our country and that I am 100% wrong and uneducated in regards to this discussion. I'll be the first to admit I thought I knew what the issue was. Some of the posts I have read I misinterpreted. I am open to learning more. I take full blame for my actions and my intent was to not hurt anyone or be disrespectful. I take full responsibility that I am uneducated on this topic. I am not writing this to defend myself but to honestly thank this board. I thought I knew and understood and I don't.
