For those who have seen it, where did you sit? We have a very splurgy dinner planned for our 10th anniversary this year and I am now lobbying the appropriations committee HARD to reaportion these funds for REALLY fucking expensive play tickets. The cheapest i am seeing are $700. If we are in the last row in the back will we see anything?

I actually saw In the Heights there! I don't remember much about the house (much easier to get prime seats), but I think as long as you avoid the boxes and far corners, you should be fine. And even those probably aren't bad. Broadway houses are tiny.
So I stayed up way too late last night reading the Hamiltome. I'm not quite done but it's soooooo good you guys. LMM gets a lot of credit, which he should, but there are so many others who put their blood, sweat, and tears into making Hamilton what it is and the book does a good job describing that.
So rear mezz seems like itnis where the cool kids go. I am "putting my foot down" that we are seeing this and not doing fancy tasting menu...all i will be thinking about the whole time was that we could have been at Hamilton.

Oh, I'm interested in this as well. Our seats are like fifth from the back on the left, but I looked at seats here and it still looks totally fine:
AND PLEASE ESPECIALLY PROVIDE US DETAILS ON HOW AMAZING DAVEED DIGGS IS.
Yeah, I have two things I'd like you to take notes on: (1) Is it appropriate to yell LAFAYETTE in Guns and Ships, and (2) Does Daveed do the delightful sneer I am envisioning when he meets A.Ham in What Did I Miss?

Guys, I don't get to teach US history next year. I saw a poster of James Madison in a colleague's room, which said, author of the Bill of Rights, and all I could think of was "Look back at the Bill of Rights (which I wrote!)"
I almost cried. No powerpoints with Hamilton quotes.
Well, I do get to teach about Jefferson when I do Enlightenment, so maybe I'll make a "You simply must meet Thomas!" slide.
I have to take what I can get, I guess.
I teach SC History, so we don't even really cover Jefferson/Hamilton more than a 1 minute convo. But, I can bring in more Laurens! However, that has not stopped me from tying in Hamilton (and really, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Marvel, etc) into ANYTHING we're studying. I'm pretty notorious for photoshopping lightsabers and AT-ATs into historical paintings and pictures for the kids to see during my lectures. After testing next month, I always have a few weeks to do whatever I want. I usually do Epic Rap Battles of History or have the kids create board games. I might throw this lesson in, you know, to prepare them for high school: blog.discoveryeducation.com/blog/2015/12/11/hamilton-vs-jefferson-using-hamilton-the-musical-in-the-classroom/
All this talk of actually seeing Hamilton made me enter the lottery for the first time. Sure, I can get off work and drive up to NYC in like 4 hours.
LOL, what is wrong with me?
I have been thinking about doing this. I work nights anyway so it isn't like anyone is expecting me to be home. I can take the train from Union Station and be there in like 3 hours. I would just leave work. Like without even thinking about it. I would be all "I have the biggest emergency ever, I have to get to New York RIGHT NOW."
I saw Rent at the Nederlander theater twice (pause for reflection. RIP JL) .... is this the same place?

no, this is at the Richard Rogers theatre. I think on 46th?
I should probably check that.
I knew it was at richard r. But wasn't sure if it was the same and changed names or something.
And i'm in dc and have figured that upon winning the seat lottery i would need to fake a family emergency and buy a plane ticket at dca to get there. The acela would not make it.

This is the safe space to admit that i have started running a bit at lunch and play hamilton songs when i run past the treasury dept and give a little fist pump. #hangsheadinshame..sorta.

Are there dates or a way to find out dates where LMM or others are already scheduled to be gone? the appropriations committee has met and agreed to an amendment but i want to be as sure as i can be that LMM and Dd are in the cast.

So I have thought about doing this. Only problem is I LIVE IN FLORIDA.
But for awhile my thought process was, "Get the email I won tickets, pay for tickets online, leave work and drive 40 minutes to the airport, 2 hour flight to NYC, hour cab ride to Richard Rodgers Theatre, take a red eye home, go to work the next day. WHAT COULD GO WRONG?"

Hmm. I was thinking it would. Plane ticket ok.
Honestly I wish the lottery was for tickets the NEXT day.

If it was for the next day it would be perfect! And it depends when the closing time is for lottery. The 4pm acela train from dc puts you into nyc at 6:46. The 5pm train is 749 which is damn close. Earlier is better and would work but i think the lottery drawing is too close.
What songs do your kids particularly like? I want DD to love this, but when I listen to it in the car she is all "I want Let it Go mom" Umm, this is sooooo much better than stupid Let it Go. She did like "You'll Be Back" little psychopath. But I want her to be singing THIS.
My daughter (4) has been requesting "Lafayette" (Guns and Ships). I probably should be more concerned with the murderous lyrics.
