I was just thinking about this thread this morning.
We renewed our theatre subscription for next season, both because we enjoy going, but also because it will give us an in to renew for the following season, so that we can get tickets when Hamilton finally comes to Orlando.

I see it again in a couple of weeks, just by myself this time. SO excited for a me day!
And then H went and surprised me with tickets to see it with DD in November when he's out of town on a guys' trip. I'm a little concerned that she might be a bit young, but we'll see. She just about lost her mind when H told her so there's no looking back!

i saw Daveed's last performance last year but missed the rest of the original cast by like a week. seeing it in chicago in June with my sister and cannot wait. i hadn't listened to it in a while for no real reason but but put it on again over the weekend and was immediately hooked again.
meanwhile, has anyone heard Dear Evan Hansen? this is supposed to be the next big thing.

This group will appreciate my new kitty, Mulligan. He's a rescue - you knock him down, he'll get the fuck back up again! (Well, unless he's just finished 10 minutes of zoomies; then he'll just take a nap.)

Additional tickets for season ticket holders at Pantages go on sale tomorrow, so I hope I can piggyback off my parents and get some!
The age requirement for the theatre is 5, but my daughter will be 4.5 when Hamilton is here. Will she get refused entry or will no one care that she's a bit too little?

I feel like 5 is even too young to sit through a 3 hour play about America. Lol

She knows the entire soundtrack from the car and sat through most of it on a bus tour in Spain. She's a big fan.

I found out I was moving to la too late for season tickets. So I'll be hoping to get tix when it goes on gp sale. I wish I knew people to piggyback.

I have listened to it, but it's really pop sounding and doesn't really have any "big" musical numbers like a traditional musical. There is no ''I am not throwing away my shot!" Moment. My understanding is that the show is very much driven by Ben Platt, so who knows what will come of it when he leaves.
On a different note, have any of your regional threaters announced your Les Miz dates? Detroit has not and it's annoying me because I am trying to figure out if I'll be able to see it there or in a different region. I see Chicago and a few other Midwest theaters have posted their dates.

I would not bring a 4 year old. Even if she knows the words, I would be concerned about her getting bored, needing to use the bathroom, talking, etc. I am bringing my 8.5 year old and that is about the youngest I would go.

Eh, the said the Great Comet would be the next Hamilton. I doubt we'll see the next Hamilton for 30 years, unless LMM is the greatest musical theater genius of all time.
I kinda hope not to see any 5 year olds when I go. I am escaping my children to see it and I don't want to be reminded of them. Lol. Plus I flat out told my 5 year she is too young and I promised to take her someday when she is older. She is similarly a fan. But still. It's a very adult play with adult themes, words, and elements.

If she's a fan and knows the show, I would totally take her. I brought my 9 year old to NYC in January and we're bringing our 6 year old to see it in Chicago in June. I highly doubt anyone would say anything as long as she lasts through the show or you bolt if she gets antsy.

We took DD1 to her 1st show (Motown) at just under 5 at the Pantages. After she turned 5, we added her to our season package. She just turned 6 and can't wait for Hamilton.
We kept her home for some shows (Cabaret, Hedwig, Book of Mormon), but otherwise it's been fine. You know your kid best as far as whether she can sit through the length of a show. And fwiw, we've never received dirty looks for bringing her. A lot of the older ladies like asking her about her favorite parts and think it's great we're introducing her to the theatre so early.

I just saw it in Chicago last night. I was really blown away by the cast. The actor who plays Eliza (Ari Afsar) is amazing. Miguel Cervantes was great. I almost prefer him to Javier, but it's really hard to compare since they both play the role so differently. Wayne Brady was good. He played the role really straight laced. The actors in this production are not afraid to mix things up and really own their characters. But the Private Bank theater kind of stinks. We were in the balcony and had to lean forward anytime the actors went to the front of the stage. And the sound...they had the mics during singing set way too loud.
