I took it that with her expanding the Dragonfly that Michel would be staying correct? I mean in 6 hours they couldn't answer this question?
I have never liked Rory and I think AB, while gorgeous, is just terrible. She's the flattest actor ever. My husband who has watched the show enough with me to be familiar with it said tonight, "Every character is good except for Rory. She's boring as shit."
I enjoyed it but I cannot believe that we didn't see the actual wedding. I loved the fake wedding scene and cried. But what about the real wedding?
I was so hoping Emily would somehow be in Stars Hollow and running the Dragonfly II.
Everybody keeps saying this but I don't fully agree with it. Jess might be her Luke in that he'll always be in love with her and pine after her, but he's not her Luke in the sense that she's denying her true feelings for him like Lorelei did with Luke for four seasons. She doesn't seem to have those feelings for him. He's a good friend that she once dated, but that's it.

I disagree with the idea that Rory is Lorelai, even though I'm sure that's what ASP was going for, because while Lorelai has always had communication issues, she tends to have much more integrity in relationships. When she learned about Chris and Sherri, she told him to go back to her. Rory slept with Dean knowing he was married, insisting her was HER Dean. She cheated on Dean with Jess. She cheated repeatedly on Paul with Logan and a one-night stand and probably some other people we don't know about. Rory knew Logan was engaged and kept running back to him anyway. For all of Emily's talk of how selfish Lorelai is, I think Rory is the one who is consistently impulsive and selfish and reckless with her future (isn't she a fucking felon, by the way, with the whole boat thing?) and with other people's feelings. They're very different people, and if their lives end up taking a similar trajectory, it's for different reasons.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

I thought she was able to get her record expunged after she completed the 300 hours of community service? I could be wrong.

Mine said the same thing. He also kept asking where Paris was, because he thought she was the best character by far. (He's right - definitely needed more Paris.) And he wanted to know when Pete Campbell was going to show up to save Rory from the rest of the loser dudes she was hanging out with.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I went in with low expectations, though, so I think that helped. I mostly wanted to see Luke and Lorelai wrap up and be happy, and I got that. I thought Emily's story line was the most interesting, though, and I would watch the hell out of "Emily Gilmore, Docent" to see more of her Nantucket house and watch her terrify children. And as someone who worked with Hartford society ladies for several years, it was immensely satisfying to see her tell them off, ha. I could have done without ever seeing the Life and Death Brigade again, though, and the musical needed to be about 10 minutes shorter, but the sheer WTFery was entertaining for a bit.
As for the Last Four Words, eh. I kind of assumed that was what was coming all along. I mean, the girl couldn't figure out her underwear situation; an unplanned pregnancy did not seem outside the realm of the possible. I just plan to pretend it ended with the lovely wedding, instead of Rory ruining her mother's happy day. (Seriously, you couldn't wait one more day and let your mom have her minute? Rory is and always has been The Worst.)

You're probably right, it's been a little while since I've seen those episodes because I hate watching Rory turn into an entitled princess. But it's frustrating that she's always treated as if she's this great kid going through one rough patch when I feel like we've seen her spiral out of control multiple times.

Rory's character changed so much throughout the series. She was quite kind and less...well...obsessed with herself in earlier seasons. Like I remember how kind she was to Paris even when Paris was being a jerk, and one of the most touching scenes was her comforting Paris after she found out she didn't get into Harvard.
Once she went to Yale, she became less likable, less certain of herself, and more entitled.
I've been trying to figure out if we're supposed to hate Rory? LOL. I think there may be something to the thought that she and Lorelei are somewhat on the same path, but Lorelei is just a better, kinder, more focused person than Rory, who had so many of life's advantages thrown her way.

I read a really good (old) article about the unraveling of Rory that made a lot of sense. She is NOT Lorelai. She is presented to us as perfect when we see her, she is seen as perfect by all around her, Amy continues to set that up for the first season or so and then she begins to tear it down. It was an illusion. The whole show was never what it seemed on the surface.
I really like what he says about how Lorelai not being able to be vulnerable. He nails it, IMO. It can be very frustrating to watch but it can be scary to be vulnerable and it was something that bit her in the ass nearly every time she tried. She was constantly reminded of her mistake of getting pregnant and subsequent choices by Emily. She didn't feel like Max knew the "real" her (her own fault but still). When she did finally start to let Luke in, he found April and it wasn't just that Lorelai was no longer the person around which his world revolved (selfish, yes, but that was how they operated), he basically ignored her except on the surface level when he was once tuned into her emotions and feelings in a way that nobody else was. In that way, it makes sense that they are where they are where the revival picks back up in their lives.
What I found interesting is that Rory herself is someone that Lorelai would not like if she was not her daughter. She can be fun as long as you don't look too closely at her character. I wonder if perhaps Lorelai would be happier if Rory was less in her daily life and she was kept in the dark about most of her really poor choices. For all of her faults, Lorelai has a strength of character that Rory does not have.

I love Hrishi! He's one of my favorite guests on Gilmore Guys. This is a good summation of the series. I hope he's a guest on one of their upcoming episodes.
Also, I'll just drop this here, I have always been team Dean and was bummed when he told her he was still married and expecting another baby. -----------> I'll see myself out now.
I loved Dean, but he is too good for her. I do love the shout out to his real life wife, Gen (iveve) with the name choice. She is pregnant again as well, though 3 not 4. That's all I got.
Not still married... he didn't get marries in season 7 did he? He got a divorce from Lindsay. So this must be a new girl.
I am happy he is happily married with 4 kids. That suits him.
Also, did Lorelei write Emily that letter or not? Never resolved as far as I remember.
OH YEAH
Forgot about that.
Sheesh. Well I kind of hated the ending, but overall I did like it. Didn't really like Rory's story. LOVED Emily. And yes, I did want Rory to end up with either Logan or jess. I could have gone either way. the Logan situation kind of broke my heart even though they were both jerks.

Just finished today. Overall I liked some parts, and hated others. My favorite was Emily, but some of things she said to Lorelei, if I were Lorelie I think I would have told my mother to fuck off.
I so mad at Rory about the whole Logan thing. You are a grown 32yr old woman, you knew he was engaged, don't get mad because you are the side piece.
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't care for the whole "I wonder who is gay so we can have a parade." I half expected that a drag queen to pop up at the town hall meeting.
I know everyone thinks the baby is Deede's but is it possible that it might be half wookie???
The one outfit that earned a  was when Rory decided to interview the people in lines in polka-dot high heels and a full demin skirt. Girl whut?
Really? Because all I could think during her interview with that Sandee lady was how wrinkled her "lucky outfit" dress looked. And then I realised I've turned into my mother. Full circle!
My thing was, is really bitch you think you are so privilege that you got a job without an interview or meeting just because of one article you wrote, and you didn't even prepare for your "guaranteed job"?? Â
Can someone help me with this? It's bugging me about Sookie. So was she just not at the Dragonfly for two years or not in Stars Hollow? Because we are supposed to believe she left Jackson, Davy and Martha to do her food journey thing?
And if she was just not at the Dragonfly then why did Lorelai act like she hadn't seen her in a while? They live in the same town.
Though when we finally see Sookie I though it was a half assed greeting for two best friends who supposedly hadn't seen in other in two years.

Seriously. Not enough gay people? 10% of the population is gay. It's BS. And Michel is married now-- why not mention him or Frederick? And 'loaning the gays?' I was not amused.

And then at the end of that whole scene, when they tried to get out Taylor to "out" himself. Argggghhh

They definitely acted like it was not seeing each other for 2 years which is ridiculous, because they say Sookie is working at Blue Hill at Stone Barns- a 30 minutes drive from Stamford. So it's not like she's not still living with her family in Stars Hollow or somewhere nearby (since Jackson is still in SH).
Wait mom, let me throw a curveball at you to steal your thunder! (Ala the season 4 finale where she sleeps with dean)
I know this is stupid, because these are fictional characters, but I'm really disappointed in who Rory grew up to be. I just finished Fall and I can't get over how selfish she was throughout all four episodes.
YES! I guess I never realized how spoiled and annoying Rory was until this revival. I was all "hey Rory that's cool you don't know what you want to do with your life, I'm 34 and don't know either" but I still have to have a job and work hard and pay bills. I saw on other posts about shouldn't Rory have a trust fund or possibly money from her grandfather, how can she complain about not having money for underwear?

I'm torn, I'm happy it wasn't "I went to Yale, now I'm a CEO of something and everything is perfect", but I think she's so entitled like the world owes her something. I'm surprised she wants to work for free at the Gazette, seems to low level for her.
I'm all team Jess and really secretely hoped they'd get together at the end, but now I think I agree that he's too good for her.
I'm annoyed about the book. Part of me thinks who cares, if that was a real book about a random girl from CT and her mom would I care? But probably yes, because that's what got me into the show, the whole mother daughter relationship and all of their adventures.
I'd love to see another season, but single episodes not 90 minute seasons. I want to know who the father is. I was never team Logan and I'm super annoyed at both of them. She had her chance, he's obviously not happy with the princess, what the heck are they doing? I assume the father is Logan based on the conversation with Christopher.
Finally, I promise I'll stop, I may have thrown 2 middle fingers at the t.v. during the last 4 words.
I'm surprised she wants to work for free at the Gazette, seems to low level for her.
I think this fits with her character. She was always very dedicated to her town and the preservation of their traditions. But I don't think she would be willing to work there under someone else. She was only willing because she would be editor and could do things her way. It's pretty clear that for Rory the greatest trial there can be is having to do something you don't want to do. She is the epitome of entitled.
I'm glad to see other people are bugged by her behavior with the SandeeSays website. I kind of love that Sandee called Rory while she was still in the lobby to tell her she didn't get the job. Too bad Rory didn't stop to think about how her behavior and attitude contributed instead of getting all indignant that they dare not to give her the job just for showing up.
Overall I liked it. It was not a great series but more like four fairly pivotal episodes for fans to relive the GG.
Rory sucks.
But more importantly...why is Tristan at the Chilton reunion? Wasn't Chilton like his third prep school and he got kicked out when he was a sophomore?
YES THANK YOU! I keep meaning to come back to this Tristan thing but I feel bad that I just keep coming back to complain about things. But really, Tristan's dad yanked him out of Chilton! Why on earth would he be back for an alumni event?
