Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

I STILL think all these years later that woman on the jet ski had something to do with her husband's disappearance on the lake between the border of Mexico and Texas.

What makes you think that she was a part of it? I remember this case because I grew up near that area and her story seemed very plausible. Shit can get crazy down there with the drug cartels. Nothing really stood out to me on this case as bizarre or shady on her part. But it's been a while and I'm a little fuzzy on the details. Just curious!

Someone here messaged me privately saying she knows the family and believes in her innocence, so out of respect for her I won't go into it too deeply.
A lot of her story rubbed me the wrong way. That's pretty much what it boiled down to.

I don't think she was kidnapped at all.
I think she and her husband cooked up this scheme together. The fact that she was beaten and branded does not sway me from this opinion. Munchausen Syndrome is real and although I think there are other things at play here, it would hardly be the first time someone hurt themselves or loved ones to garner sympathy and / or money.
A poster over at The Bump offshoot called Then Comes Family has a fascinating theory about this case. I can link it if y'all want.
Cliffs notes, please?!
Sorry guys! I really was going to link it.
Cliff notes: Poster who travels alot noticed that a recent social media post included a picture of them traveling via private plane. They also noted pictures of them at a particularly expensive part of Bora Bora. Given that it was discovered that she was a SAHM and he worked for the Geek Squad, a private plane seems a bit unusual. So her working theory is that there's so sort of illicit money source. Drug trade is the number one guess over there.

This was speculated here on page 1...
I didn't see anything in here about the private plane though, which I think is the best evidence for the drug theory.

I guess I can't really speak to what people decide to do when in a period of panic/ not knowing where their spouse is, etc.
BUT what also stood out to me about the DH are the news shots of him walking in the woods looking sad and forlorn, or of him leaning against a fence looking out to where ever, and still looking sad and forlorn.
I simply can not imagine my DH missing/ having been found badly beaten and thinking "Yes, news producers, filming footage of me acting sad is a GREAT idea!!!!".
Maybe if that was the only weird thing, I could overlook it. But something about the DH doesn't sit right with me and filming those shots only adds to it.

Isn't it strange that if there was illegal activity going on, they'd be all over the media about this?
Although I don't know when this hit the national media so it's possible some outlet caught the story and since it's about a pretty blonde mom going missing and then being found, the rest of the media caught on and now it's hard to stop the spread. Maybe.
Looks like her Pinterest name and cultural differences folder on Pinterest has been changed. www.pinterest.com/spapini/ It says Tcash for her name now and picture is a mountain.

Just what I'd be doing 6 days post freedom - cleaning up my social media. ^o)
Not that I know of, but this morning on MSNBC somebody said that people who knew them said they shared everything on social media. I believe they were described as "a reality show ready to go." They thought this might be a reason he's out there talking so much to the media.

Maybe they are trying to shine a bright spotlight on themselves as a means of "protection." If they're tangled up in shady shit, they may still think they're at risk. Perhaps the thinking is that whoever is behind this won't try anything else now that they're being watched closely by the media. Doing so would also lay the ground work for them to continue the "poor white Americans who got mixed up with the Illegals who are here to ruin our country with drugs and crime" story line when it comes out that they were involved in drug/whatever activities.
(I have a degree from the University of CSI crime drama series, and am highly qualified in my crime solving opinion, obviously).

Also, the way the husband keeps releasing details the police don't want him to and they're saying he is compromising the investigation.
If you wanted to cover yourself you'd likely compromise the investigation right? Otherwise if you were innocent victims you'd want the police to be leading the investigation instead of you blabbing on any show that would have you.
Also he originally said hair was chopped off, more recently he said she was found with a shaved head.
The lady who found her said she saw long blonde hair on the side of the road.
Too many inconsistencies.
And if my wife were actually kidnapped all that time then returned, I'd be making sure to be spending time with her helping to heal etc. she would be weak and in pain if this branding and burns and beatings happened but instead of tending to her he's off giving interviews.
