Has anyone ever tried the Egyptian magic skin cream? They sell it at costco. I'm intrigued but it's Costco so it's a lot of it and it's not really cheap. Like 40somerhing for a pack with a small medium and large jar.
It's olive oil plus all the bee things (wax, honey, proplis, royal jelly. )
SallyJ if your skin doesn't get clogged by olive oil this could be an interesting choice for you for a sealing night cream.
wawa I did a bunch of research on oils very early on and learned that for sensitive, acne-prone skin it is best to look for high linoleic acids because high oleic acids can make acne worse. Olive oil is a high oleic acid oil and likely isn't compatible with my skin.
ETA: And I am pretty sure why I might have continuing issues with acne is because jojoba is a balanced oil, but I'm still not getting enough linoleic acid.

I tried it and found it okay. My skin liked it in winter, but then it seemed to give me little clogged pores later on (little white heads). I stopped using it. Lots of reviews saying how *amazing* it is that I kind of think they are bought off lol.

Have you added castor oil to the mix? Straight castor oil is too drying, but mixed with grape seed oil, it's a good first cleanser.

Castor oil breaks me out, but I've used it to spot treat existing acne because it's great at expulsion. I wonder if it will be good later when I've used some good AHA/BhA products and my skin is in better shape.
Grape seed oil I haven't tried because it isn't recommended for acne prone skin because of its astringent properties. I am open to trying it though, maybe just not yet.
speaking of people sharing makeup looks - mominatrix were there any pictures of YOU at that steampunk thing? I saw hundreds of other people, but since you were behind the camera I wasn't sure if you were in there anywhere. And then, the reason I'm asking here...What sort of makeup does one wear to a steampunk event? One meaning you in this case.

Just one and I hated it, so it didn't make the cut.
Flatish skin, no contour but moderate blush. Tiny bit of cheek sparkle.
Dark eyes. Black primer with copper over it on lids, darker metallic in crease. Metallic green liner.
Lipstick was pretty much my flesh tone. Matte.
Some of the people there REALLY did the makeup portion so very well.
ETA: the fact that I can do a description like that has me more than a little worried. That was weird.
Oh if you want to brands or pics of products, let me know.

And can I just say how genuinely shocked I am that anybody not in attendance even looked at those?
In my mind, people who were there go through, find their pics, make them their FB profiles, and move on.

LOL, I love steampunk looks. I've been waiting for you to post the pics ever since you posted that corset you were considering because I wanted to see the pretty outfits.
And funny you say that about being able to describe a makeup look in distinct detail being weird. (that sounds really pretty btw, I love green and copper) I was just looking at my vanity-top makeup organizer this morning (which only holds my day-to-day and my brushes. the rest of the collection is an entire big drawer of insanity) and thinking how much I've learned (and spent) since the OG makeup thread. Which was...uhhh...3??? years ago? Wait, shit it was more than that. I was still at my old job and I've been here for 3 years. Holy crap. I always liked makeup, but so much of this just wasn't in my vocabulary and now it's just automatic. It's been a fun ride.
An AW for the deals I snagged while on vacation in Spain:
I love the L'Occitane almond milk concentrate cream, but it's $50 at Sephora. I found a cosmetics store that had it for 37.95 euro (dollar and euro almost equal right now), but then it rang up 34.15 for some reason. Plus I joined the loyalty program, got a 5 euro off coupon, and went back the next day for another jar.
Caudalie products are sold in pharmacies there, and one that I passed had a set of the moisturizing sorbet, a mask, and micellar water for 23.50 euro... the moisturizer alone is $39 at Sephora. That was the last gift set they had, so I bought it plus another tube of the moisturizer and then got a free gift for buying 2 items. It's some sort of anti-aging cream (have to read the label more). So 47 euro for 5 items!
Clearly I need to vacation in Europe more often to get skincare discounts...

I know there is a separate sale thread, but does anyone know if Sephora is even having a spring sale?
I haven't made a make up or skin care purchase since the November sale. I need quite a few replacement items, so I'm really hoping Sephora has something soon.
I did see here about Tarte's 30% F&F sale (thanks to whomever originally posted that!). I need foundation (like going to run out in the next week, need). In order to get the free shipping, I need to spend $40. The Amazonian clay 12 hour I use will be pretty well under that after the 30% off. I go through a foundation in about 6 -8 months (longer when summer is involved because I don't wear make up as often). Could I buy two during this sale? Does foundation go "bad?"
If the answer is not to buy two, what are some other Tarte HG products? I have two palettes and hate one, love the other, and I am good on eye shadow right now. The lipstick/gloss duo the page is showing as new looks interesting, but I need more lipstick like I need a hole in the head.
closertofine I can't answer your foundation question because I can't commit to one foundation for long enough to stock up, but I do like the Tarte SmolderEyes liners. They glide well going on and have nice staying power.
Still haven't checked out at Tarte! I remain tempted by more SmolderEyes liners and also some glitter liner. Which is ridiculous because I am almost 38 years old but I really feel like I need more glitter in my life.

Sephora hasn't announced dates yet but the rumors I've seen are that it'll be this month. I think they're waiting until Ulta's sale is done with. Foundations do have expiration dates usually I see they're good for a year at least. If you're not opening a backup it should be good for longer I would think. My main concern with expiring foundations would be ones that have SPF in them but those should have dates listed. I wouldn't have a problem grabbing 2 foundations or a blush or lipstick if you only get one. The blue marble packaging on Tarte new lipsticks is gorgeous.

closertofine, I'm not sure about the Sephora sale.
But for Tarte, I'd get an Amazonian clay blush, I love those. I decided to try their sampler of tanning/bronzing products since I'm always looking for a good one.

Hmmm, I got a 10% off coupon from Sephora. I also got a GC. Must resist because I have a feeling there's going to be a better sale soon for some reason.
Are there any other setting sprays out there that are better than the UD All-Nighter? I like it fine but I'm wondering if there's anything else. I've tried MAC and MakeUp Forever but I keep going back to UD. I also have Model in a Bottle but I feel like it's waaaaay too much for everyday use.
Morphe is on Hautelook right now. Picked up the 35W - 35 Color Warm Palette and the 35K - 35 Color Koffee Eyeshadow Palette for $36 total. It's 2017, why is drone shipping/delivery not a reality yet? Lol.

So I finally bought the Physicians Formula Super CC Cream that everyone on here recommends. It's awesome!! I just threw some on quickly this morning, but it feels like a much more expensive light foundation.

UD All-Nighter is my go-to setting spray for long events (fundraisers, weddings, etc.). Day to day I use L'Oreal Infalliable Pro-Spray & Set which works really well for the price point. I didn't like the MAC or MakeUp Forever when I tried them.
I caved on the Tarte sale - ended up getting:
-Shadow liner stick duo (rose gold & plum) -Two Tartiest pro glitter liners (white gold & silver) -Girls just wanna have sun bronze & sun kit

My first impression of the IT airbrush, etc. powder is that it's really nice but I wouldn't pay full price for it. It's a tiny amount of product for a whole lot of moola. Channeling brightest bulb, not worth the price. It has spf 50 in it so it has that going for it but like I said, wouldn't pay full price for it.

NYX and Elf have nice ones, but I hate the spray bottles of both of them. I end up pouring them into my UD all-night bottle. The UD all-nighter is probably the best I've ever tried.

I feel like the All-Nighter spray barely helps, but I use it anyway.
When I was in an outdoor wedding last spring, I bought Bill Nye Final Seal. It does work better, but it's... a lot. It has a strong mint scent, and it feels kind of like spraying glue on your face. I'm not familiar with Model in a Bottle, but I'm guessing Final Seal isn't what you're looking for!
I almost forgot to mention--I was in Sephora last night and they had the Sun Safety Kits out. I looked on the site and it says they'll be available through the app on the 11th.

Aaaaaaaaah, my Sephora stuff is here!
The Bite Lip Set is sooooo pretty and the colours are the perfect neutrals on me. I'm a bit iffy on the lip gloss; it's gorgeous but it's a bit too much for everyday use for me.

wasn't this initially $30? I remember it being a nice price but it's $42 and I feel like that's higher than I initially thought.
