House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff said Monday that he had confronted acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire in a phone call about a whistleblower complaint that was never alerted to the committee despite the intelligence community inspector general finding it "credible" and of "urgent concern," conditions that, Schiff says, require congressional notification.
The California Democrat told CNN's Anderson Cooper on "Anderson Cooper 360" that he had found Maguire's answers on the matter to be "not very encouraging," noting that the newly installed acting DNI had initially answered "no" when asked if the complaint involved something the committee was investigating but was immediately corrected by his legal counsel, who said they "could not say that."
Apparently Lewandowski was called to testify before the House and the WH is citing executive privilege and not allowing him.
But Lewandowski never worked for the WH. There is no executive privilege!!!!
It’s not clear if the Dems are going to do anything about this though.
They called Rick Dearborn and Rob Porter, too, and the WH is claiming executive privilege. According to this WaPo article, Lewandowksi plans to show up.
I can’t shake the feeling that this is going to escalate/be escalated to the point where the 2020 election is going to be “postponed for the good of national security.” Or there’s at least going to be an attempt (or a “joke” about it) to postpone it.

Fucking fuck. Crap day for Medicaid, you guys. This is going to open the door to a whole shitshow (and I thought we had until Friday before it would be released, so this is a bummer.)
Anyone watching the Lewandowski hearing? It is absolutely rage inducing. I can’t for the life of me understand how the Democrats didn’t expect he was going to stonewall and be a complete dick about it. How they didn’t prepare for that and have a plan for that is beyond me. Ugh!!!

I am certain this was all expected and will be used in their on-going law suits.
Local politics are absolutely bonkers. Bonkers. I have no idea how people do this for a living.
Care to elaborate?
In the past week we've had meetings in two neighboring legislative districts that have been total clusterfucks. Due east we have the 21st. There is apparently a long-standing feud/grudge match going on between the mayor and the woman who lost to her in the Dem primaries. The loser has apparently been passing out flyers and a 12-year-old boy apparently took down a few of the other candidate and replaced them. The behavior between the two had reached a point where the candidate thought the best option would be to call the police, assuming this was done at the behest of the other person. (At some point, the other person apparently threatened the immigration status of the candidate as well?) The boy may or may not have been undocumented. (They're both Latinx candidates and have numerous Latinx volunteers if that is relevant.) The police report was against the other woman but the police want to question the boy. He's now apparently in hiding. Sooo, the other person has been speaking out against the candidate, repeatedly citing that "she went to school in Havana and stated in her immigration records that she is not communist and has no ties to communism but she went to college in Cuba, which everyone knows is a communist country and so she LIED on her immigration papers." Brought up several times in a speech to the city council and now they're contacting all the local papers to follow up on the police report incident. AND the LD brought in the Chair of the Republican Party, who is the opposing candidate in an effort to endorse HIM in lieu of endorsing their own candidate because...hello, grudge match. Two friends of mine were the only active participants in getting the Republican's endorsement BY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY of this LD shut down. And since they couldn't endorse him, they decided to censure their own candidate because they apparently don't like her even though the people do, because she just doesn't *listen* to them. (Hell, would you?)
And that's just to the east of us. To the north, we have an even worse clusterfuck that we were afraid was going to rain down on our LD meeting last night because our chair was requested to get involved in a matter *their* chair refused to move forward toward discipline. It involves a Berner who a lot of people support because Bernie Sanders, who wants to primary every one of our incumbents because they supported Hillary and aren't Medicare for All (want to support ACA with revisions, primarily) and who wants to tear down our party and rebuild it in Bernie's image; who bullies and name-calls (including calling an AF veteran "a Nazi" and "unpatriotic" and a teenage black young man a "MotherF***er" and has been microaggressive and misogynistic toward another young WOC and other women in the group. Not because they're women but because they're women who supported Hillary. And the group made it about him taking down a confederate flag rather than the compendium of actions he's done over the years, and his "I'd do it all over again because I'm an ANTI-RACIST!" With the state party Chair stepping out because of prior interactions, the board decided after a **six-month investigation** that he needed a six-month suspension so he could think about his actions. But he and his supporters are all "it's not fair they're suspending him for taking a confederate flag off a high school student's truck!" rather than the actual actions he's taken against multiple people over a two-year period. "The claim was brought by a Hillary-supporter who's from a group of Hillary supporters who've had it out for him for the past two years and that's all it is!" Stupid Berners. And our County Chair was also involved and refused to move forward with reviewing complaints (he was on our county E-board with her and she deferred to him a *lot* during that time. He was voted out at re-org earlier this year, and so he was voted in as State Committee Member when their SCM stepped down, which puts him back in a similar situation only at local rather than county level.) They didn't show up at our meeting last night, but our county chair showed her ass when I nominated a sitting city council member who's received multiple endorsements from county, other LDs and other groups and she challenged my endorsement from the floor. "Should have been vetted through the endorsements committee." My ask for endorsements won and there was much muttering from her and those from the 44th who showed and sat with her up front and center. Thankfully, our LD chair is a grown up and ran the program beginning to end in a professional manner and was not intimidated.
And because of last night's meeting (I was asked to be there by the chair, to nominate for the endorsement and for moral support), I missed a fundraiser at Rick Steve's (the travel guy) home for Rick Larsen (who the Berner jerk despises and has tried to primary and have others primary - right on down to bringing in a Green Party member and an inexperienced kid with a criminal history of fraud, so great candidates there, big guy! for endorsements in lieu of RL - so I wanted to be there to give him my dollars.)

Trump will end CA's authority to set stricter auto emissions rules.
The Trump administration is expected on Wednesday to formally revoke California’s legal authority to set tailpipe pollution rules that are stricter than federal rules, in a move designed by the White House to strike twin blows against both the liberal-leaning state that President Trump has long antagonized and the environmental legacy of President Barack Obama.

Everything I’ve read re: Lewandowski is depressing as hell. We’re (D’s) getting absolutely nowhere, look unprepared for his stone-walling, which certainly should’ve been expected. I realize Rick Wilson is a Republican (🔥) But depressingly nodded along pretty damn hard. HOLD HIM (Lewandowski) IN CONTEMPT!!!!! We can’t play by the normal, yesteryear rules anymore!!!!
1/ This is outrageous contempt. It isn't just that this scumbag Lewandowski is slapping the committee with it.

To me, Nadler looked totally caught by surprise. If he was pretending he's a better actor than I would have thought. It was...not good.
