I will vote for whomever the Democratic candidate is because I'm not voting for Trump. However, I have never donated money to a political candidate's campaign and I won't canvas for anyone.
I vote. That's as far as I'm getting involved in this bullshit.
I think it'd be an interesting pick. But no, maybe he can pick a nice centrist like Warren.
So let me get this straight. Looking at two of your most recent posts together: You think the mainstream media is liberal but Warren is centrist? That's an interesting political spectrum you have.
Warren/Castro is my preferred ticket, but I think there are high odds for a contested convention and a compromise progressive/moderate ticket.
Honestly asking: is Warren/Castro not considered a progressive/moderate ticket?
I consider them both progressive. Which is the moderate in that combo? Or am I misunderstanding the term moderate/progressive (I thought it meant one of each on the ticket)?
(Not trying time be snarky with the barrage of questions- just questioning my understanding).
What? Overwhelmingly people here are going to do the right thing. Contemplating giving money to or canvassing for a candidate you don’t like during a primary when your favored candidate is still in is obviously not going to be as high as it will be when this primary is over and we all can focus on the same goal.
That’s fair.
Two additional points:
First, the poll assumes that fighting for the nominee is the only thing a person can do beyond voting. I'll spend money and canvas like hell for down ballot races, and maybe that will trickle up. I just think that Bernie is toast nationally and will majorly hurt down-ballot races. I'd rather spend my time and money stopping the bleeding than on what is likely a futile effort. There's no option in the poll for this.
Second, I think people should be honest in their intentions here because the enthusiasm gap should be a relevant consideration that people take into account when choosing who to vote for. I'm not going to run around pledging donations to Bernie when doing so props up his candidacy. He's pure garbage. His supporters need to understand how much he is truly hated and held responsible for their denialism. I'm not rewarding them holding me at gunpoint by promising them money.

I guess I thought Castro was more moderate. I consider warren to be a progressive.
Also as for "vote blue no matter who", ugh. If you've spent any time on Twitter, you'd know that stupid slogan is used more as a weapon to silence women and people of color by the Bros than it is a serious Democratic unity cry. The only people on Twitter who seem to use it are Bernie or busters who will vote for Jill Stein. It makes my skin crawl.
I'll vote for the nominee because I'm not an asshole. I just won't ever use that line.
I do not give a fuck about moderate progressive liberal whatever the fuck. Literally nobody is going to have their agenda passed because IF we are lucky to win, the only thing the president will be doing is trying to get Trump to vacate the white house, then fighting the civil war that will be left in his wake.
If you are sitting around whining about candidates being too liberal or too centrist, you are part of the problem. Wake the fuck up.

I agree here. Castro was actually my first choice.
I think if you had a Warren Castro vote - you'd try to consolidate the POC vote because I don't think POC aren't afraid of Castro, and he could pull a good Latinx turnout - if that's the goal. Warren has your upwardly mobile black vote (younger demographics). I don't know how you'd consolidate older black voters, but that may not really be a concern because they'll ultimately vote against Trump. All my Senior Saints (this is how I reference my elders in the black church) are just sick of Trump and will absolutely just vote to be rid of him and his shenanigans.
Trump could get another Supreme Court pick with another four years... blue, no matter who.
I feel like the issue of courts and judges do not get enough attention. McConnell and Trump have done a lot of damage the last few years.
I feel like too much emphasis is being placed on Iowa. Sure it sucks that the results were not available immediately but I would sooner have them delay and get it correct.

In fairness then, we might want to prioritize someone with military experience.

Pete 2020?
Pete can’t even handle a ten person protest in a college town.

Pete 2020?
I will say again that I think if leaving policy aside and looking back at the last two successful D candidates I think Pete and Warren bring the most to the table of the current primary candidates as far as being a step forward, something new/different. Pete, more so, simply because he’s young, too. He has a lot less experience though I think comparatively (Clinton was a governor, Obama had been in the Senate), which seriously concerns me despite the fact that I absolutely think he’s more qualified than Trump.
Biden and Bernie are just “not this again” to a lot of people I think. They’re not capturing excitement - Bernie captures his people but there’s a ceiling and it’s very niche. Looking at the failed candidates: Kerry, Gore, Clinton...there was a lot of more of the same status quo about them. I’m sure people will tell me Pete is too moderate or whatever, so he’s not a real step forward but I think thats BS to many many voters because I think a lot of people couldn’t GAF about policy and care about how someone makes them feel. I think HRC had some unique factors working against her too, though, so maybe it doesn’t matter what has been unsuccessful before.
I think there were maybe better candidates outside of Warren and Pete (neither were my top choice) before we got to this point but of the field that’s left - those two seem to fit that mold more for me. Something new and different. Not someone we know too well and are sick of or whatever mindset it is that keeps people from being excited.
Personally my excitement is at getting Trump out of office but I think to mobilize the hell out of turnout, maybe there’s more to it all.
Absolutely not. But I'm not a Democrat, nor am I a Bernie Bro. I'm a leftist, and the only way I'm participating in this at all is if Bernie gets the nomination and doesn't fuck it up.
jigsy- I picked the canvas, etc. option for that reason. I am a Bernie hater but will still do whatever I can to get him elected if he is the nominee. Donating money will be a tough one so my "whatever" might have an asterisk.
See, I'm the opposite. I will donate money, but not time if he's the nom.

I get it. You wanna Feel the Bern. But honest to goodness, we don't really need you to check out if Bernard doesn't get the nod or if Bernard has the big one and is on his way to see Elizabeth. (Wait - are you too young to get a Sanford and Son reference?)
We don't need a second siphoning of votes that got us the Great Cheeto Wanna Be Putin. I need you to take it down like 5 notches and vote Dem. Don't do it for me. Do it for RBG.
I don't have any spare cash, like at all. What I do have is a Cafepress shop, creative skills, and a bit of time to put together some designs people can order and use to tout their stance and share the message right up to the election and beyond.
I will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sales to the DNC. (I'm an old regular, and NitaX + pixy0stix know me IRL and can vouch that I'm good for my word.)
Here's the shop link (already has some stuff there from since Trump made his notorious "Nasty Woman" comment during the debates): bit.ly/nastywomenvote
If you have suggestions for what you'd like me to create (custom orders that might also interest others) PM me your ideas. Even if it only garners a few bucks, it'll be worth it to send in the donation and get this shit done to send Trumper Tantrum packing next January.
eclaires, I agree, and I'm far from a Pete fan. (My husband HATES Pete for some reason and puts him at the bottom of who he will support, except maybe Bloomberg, since Bloomberg supported the reelection of our awful senator, Pat Toomey.) I think both offer something new. Sure, Warren is 70, but she spent most of her life outside politics. So far outside politics that she was a Republican until her 40s, lol. But she was essentially able to get the CFPB created while she didn't even hold elected office, and it was a given that her FIRST elected position would be that US senate seat that needed a Dem in MA. She has a good balance of experience with something new. Pete has... little experience. He seems super smart (so does Warren) and competent enough, I guess. I'm obviously much more excited about Warren's policies than Pete's and I've been impressed with her campaign for close to a year now (after expecting to fully back Harris).
I'm sick of explaining to people that Warren is SUPER ELECTABLE. Biden is not because people who are inclined not to vote aren't going to vote for a return to status quo.
Bernie is a whole other mess of Sandanista nonsense and not being able to get along with anyone in Washington, plus the fact that he's an establishment politician and all the rest of his poor decision making.
Plus, both Bernie and Biden had the most name recognition going into the campaign. They've likely already hit their ceilings for support. I hope.
Pete can't even deal with his POC campaign staffers.
He actually hired POC campaign staffers? That's more effort than I gave him credit for.
His history in South Bend is bad news. He needs to get himself and his campaign together like 6m ago. I actually think his experience is like completely unimportant compared to this and it’s a dealbreaker.

Oh for sure. My expectations for him are low, low, low.
