We've had ours for almost 4 years and never regretted it. The addition of all the other content, strength, yoga, dance, stretching, walking, running is great and I pretty much do all my workouts with Peloton now.
ETA: our is in my office/studio in a corner of the room.
Are you using the peloton hr monitor or a different one? We got the peloton one included with our package but so far it doesn’t seem to do anything. Not sure if I need to do something else to make it work or if I should just buy one online.
If the format of this is weird, I apologize...the quoting is super screwed up for me right now. Anyway! Did you connect the HRM to the bike? I know that’s a stupid question, but it doesn’t do it automatically. You have to manually do it via the bike.
Also, you really do need to dampen the sensors on the strap or the bike won’t pick it up. It’s super sensitive like that, or at least mine is.
I don't regret getting ours at all. I like the bike but I also like the full integration of workouts (running, yoga, meditation, strength even foam rolling and stretching) on the platform. I'd say that I'm primarily a runner but the platform has opened me up to these other forms of movement which is pretty nice.
When you get the bike, it has all the basic stuff, but if you are into data you can hook it up to a HRM and do an FTP test that then brings the bike to a whole new level. I did the FTP test and I'm obsessed with it now. I think it makes the rides and your progress so much more fun--and I didn't have to do anything after the FTP test to plug in the data. It did it all for me which was awesome. Once I did that--now I ride in a different way and view the instructors in a different way.
This isn't about the bike, but I like the strength workouts a lot and I like the yoga and do it much more than..really I ever have done yoga in my entire life. This morning I did a little bit of sun salutations on my own lol.

I should have said this in my OP but I don't use the HRM, my brother and his wife do.
They use the the peloton brand...I know they aren't the most techie people and they hooked them up to the bike first and they started working. They showed me the data screens and I was impressed.
I use the FTP test for power zones and I'm obsessed with it. It helps on every single ride with goal setting.
I have no idea what the FTP test is (will need to look into this!) but if you are an OTF person, your HRM would work. I have the flex and it paired immediately (any HRM with ANT+ should work).
Does anyone know what FTP is, how to use it, and what it's good for? Do you know your watts/kg?
It’s the functional threshold power test - basically a 20 minute ride where you go all out and try to hit the highest average output you can. Once you get that number, it’s used to calculate your zones for power zones rides. As you improve and get stronger, you can retake the test and that will readjust your zones as needed. The FTP test itself is no fun but power zone training is amazing.
For everyone with a bike, if you don't have a designated exercise room, where is it? Mine has been in the play room (not ideal, but worked well), now we're turning that into DD's bedroom so I need to move it. I think the only option is our bedroom, which I'm not excited about.
Ours is in our bedroom (3 kids in a 4 bedroom house so no more space). It's been fine. Our room is pretty large and we have it in a corner along with a sleek little organizer think I got from TJ Maxx to store towels, HR monitor, weights etc. The bike does not take up a lot of space so it looks ok. We contemplated the garage, but with need to keep an eye on kids running around, the bedroom was better. I hope you love it! We've had it since January and both me and DH are regular users and really enjoy it.

Basically all of this. The only thing I'd mention is that your average watts from your FTP is reduced by 5% to account for the fact that the test is only 20 minutes rather than the 60 it "should" be. And watts/kg is just that...FTP/your weight in kg, which I do track. I feel like this is quiz lol.

That was not a dumb question at all because I didn’t realize my bike’s Bluetooth was off. So thanks for suggesting I connect it because when I set it up I assumed it would just connect since everything else did. And I loved having it for my ride (makes my calorie count more accurate too)! Thank you!
Ahh, I’m so glad you got it to work!! You’re welcome!
duff I was genuinely curious if anyone knew what it was & what it is used for. I'm a cyclist that has been training with power for about 5 years--4 of them with a coach. An FTP test is torture.
Did you not know?
I knew what it was. That's why I brought it up as plus of platform/ bike. 🤔

I don't have a Peleton, but my insurance sent something out that you could get up to $100 back on a purchase. Might be worth looking in to.
I have a friend who plays the suffering olympics all the time, the only thing "good" in her life right now is her Peleton. She's in shape, but said she's lost weight, and it's a good stress reducer.
foundmylazybum, broadsheet, turbo, there's a new Power Zone challenge starting on June 1st if you haven't signed up yet! I think I mentioned them in another Peloton thread, but they're fabulous...I just finished my 7th one!

I follow matt on insta and he puts out his week of training. This week has been all PZE Workouts plus strength 😳
On Monday was an awesome ride with Denis, followed by three strength workouts..then he did a long bike ride followed by yoga 😳😳😳
I..did not do all that but the pze and strengths were great! (He works out like all day lol)
I'll check out the challenge! I love that there are a few other power zone fans here!

Sorry to bump this up again. I've been on the fence about ordering a Peloton so this thread has been helpful. For those of you who love your bikes have you always enjoyed working out? I used to go to group classes at our Y but I've never been the type of person to enjoy working out, I just made myself do it. I'm worried a Peloton will turn into a clothes rack but I'm really intrigued by the classes. Also, what accessories did you buy from Peloton and do you use them? Lastly (for now), if you do strength training through Peloton how may weights do you need/have? tia.
ETA: if you belong to any Peloton FB groups which are your favorite?

I never liked working out until I found OTF. I’ve done Beachbody and regular gyms in the past but meh. I’ve dying to get back to OTF but not with the current situation and the gym guidelines for our state. I find the peloton to be a pretty great workout, especially combined with the core and strength workouts I’ve been doing. I’m not burning quite as many calories but I’m feeling pretty good. I have adjustable weights but find I usually use 8-25s for the strenth ones, but I think if you had a set of 8/10 or 15/20 (depending on how heavy you usually go) you could get a good workout still. I got the package with the shoes and the weights. I use my OTF HR monitor and I bought a mat from amazon. I don’t follow any groups but maybe i should! I usually schedule rides with my OTF friends since most of us bought one.

I liked working out for about 7 months (OTF) before the peloton. But... my husband had never liked working out and he also loves the peloton, maybe more than I do! Weights will be helpful for the strength classes but they have a lot of body weight ones so you can try those classes first. We have mats, yoga blocks, and weights. We have 3 lbs and the bowflex adjustable weights. Honestly I would prefer if I just had some free weights (5,10, and 15 lbs).

Nope. I fucking hated it. Never did it. Only exercised regularly the summer I was studying for the bar exam (nearly 10 years ago) because I told myself I could only take a break from studying if I exercised. It’s completely changed that. Now I exercise 5+ times a week. Not always riding the bike but using the other exercises too.
The Peloton Members page and Peloton Moms groups are dumpster fires. Sometimes hilarious ones, but more frequently disturbing or at the very least annoying ones.

I hated it. Counted down the minutes. I once trained for a half marathon and then never ran again. Like pulling teeth. Now I ride my Peloton 5 days a week and mostly look forward to it. Days I don’t want to do it I tell myself to try and I can quit after 10 minutes but I’ve never quit. I love my bike!
I have 2 lb weights and that’s been enough. I have the HR monitor but don’t really use it. The mat is good too but off brand one from the store would be fine. I have headphones and don’t use them. I bought at BF so I got tons of accessories free. You really just need weights and shoes.
I’m part of the Peloton Moms, the main one, a BF group, and working moms. They’re mostly dumpster fires but entertain me. Oh and the Maryland page.

I got my Peloton in late April. I love it. The classes are fun, and there’s a huge variety. It’s much more convenient than going to the gym (my gym has been closed for 3 months anyway). I took spin classes at my gym 1-2 times a week before I got the Peloton. Now I do spin classes on the Peloton 3-4 times a week. I’ve also done some of the strength classes. I have weights between 5-15 pounds, and that’s been fine for me so far.
The main FB group is a dumpster fire. I’m in a couple of local groups that are fine.
This is less about the bike, but I was really annoyed that with all the pants they sell in their store, nothing is padded, meaning they are not cycle pants. They have linked up with decent designers and it would have been nice to see them do some "fun" cycle capri pants and shorts.

I've seen on the Facebook Peloton group that there's a million issues with their clothing.
Also, Peloton people have reached peak ridiculousness. They are now posting pics of the pools of sweat on their mat after a workout. I do love my Peloton but man, some of these people are fucking crazy.

Interesting. I have never dripped on the floor when on the bike. I am not a profuse sweater. in my class I notice this happens far more with the male riders.

Neither am I. I am so not a big sweater. And what was particularly annoying about this post was that this woman posted this nasty picture after her boyfriend worked out, with the caption of "if you're not sweating this much, are you really working that hard?" Then, people started posting pictures of their nasty ass sweat on their mat after their workout. Like, no thank you please.

I never thought I would live to see a day when sweat shaming became a thing, and not for sweating, but for not sweating enough!
For race day, I bought my class sweat bands to wear on their wrists (since we can't have team shirts) and I realized, that while dorky, they totally make sense. lol
Thanks for bumping this and reminding me that I'm still a month out from delivery date of the bikeI ordered in May
I got the delivery moved up by a week super randomly. Its really annoying. I live less than 2 miles from a Peloton store. People ordering and live hundreds of miles from a store and getting delivery via XPO are getting their bikes in 2 weeks.
If I don't end up liking the bike, I could sell it for more than I bought it for in about 4 minutes. The demand is crazy.
I am also waiting on a real beach cruiser type bike I ordered weeks ago. The delivery date is still not even estimated.
Maybe the universe is telling me that bikes just aren't for me

I work in retail buying and would assume the bikes are imported from China into the port of Los Angeles. Then the shipping containers are loaded onto train cars and sent to various smaller warehouses around the country, in places like Oklahoma and Columbus OH. Then, they would plan smaller loads to allocate them to the customers by truck. It only matters how close you are to one of the warehouses, not the store.
thebreakfastclub I get that, but I feel like it shouldn't matter what warehouse I live near. If I live 12 hours from a warehouse and my order was placed 6 weeks ago, and someone placed an order today and lives 3 hours from a warehouse, they shouldn't get their bike in 2 weeks while I'm waiting another 2 months. They should ship orders out to wherever they are ordered from in the order they were received. They have enough money to cover the extra distance shipping cost
Plus, I'm hearing people in NJ "burb" of NYC with XPO delivery are getting their bikes fast but people in NYC with Peloton aren't.

Basically, I'm just whining
I am going to "whine" with you. I ordered mine May 28 had it moved up to July 20. I am in a NJ "burb" of NYC and cannot get mine moved up. Peloton is delivering mine.
