The social media annoyance I have right now is every time the local news station posts our county's covid numbers for the day, a handful of dummies hop on and say, "I don't know anyone who has had 'scary flu' ( ) this is all a hoax!"
I've run out of descriptors for my feelings, but it's somewhere around murderous and rage.

So, my local paper posted an article featuring a bunch of residents here and who they're voting for and why. I noticed that *none* of the Trump supporters said anything about covid. Absolutely nothing. It was all about how great the economy WAS. It doesn't matter to these assholes that it doesn't matter how great it was, it is far from great now and THAT'S what should matter to people.

Or, in a similar vein - anything covid-related greeted with a laughter reaction. They can all fuck right off.
Read a great meme earlier: "Beating this pandemic is a group project. This is why I always hated group projects."
Also, I'm still so angry about Meadows saying they can't control the pandemic. New York begs to differ.
As someone who lives in a state where our Gov is mirroring these talking points (iowa) I am absolutely terrified now. They are just going to let us suffer until a vaccine starts to control it all.

I don't actually know if our overall costs have increased, or more just adjusted. For example, our grocery budget has exploded, but our restaurant budget is basically nil. Our heating bill will undoubtedly go up, but our (car) gas budget is dramatically down.

Dodgers win the World Series, but not before Justin Turner tests positive and gets pulled in the ninth inning. But then he comes back out to celebrate with his team. That’s 2020 for you.

We're starting the next step up in COVID restrictions because people can't fucking follow guidelines. Numbers are trending in the wrong direction so several counties are doing the same.

We watched a bit of the post game and I kept asking my husband “is that Justin Turner?” and he kept responding “no, that can’t be”, but yes now we know he was back out there

I think this is a total douche move BUT wouldn’t his teammates have been considered already exposed since he’s been around them in the dugout? Also, why is the MLB getting test results back in the middle of a game or not forcing him to leave the stadium as soon as they received the positive result? Why were the players families on the field in the first place? Highly doubt they were all COVID tested.
I’m not defending him by any means... Taking his mask off and exposing other players families and people who work there is super shitty, but I think MLB needs to take a lot of the blame for this. Americans have made it clear they can’t be trusted to make good decisions when it comes to COVID and personal responsibility.

I keep on wondering if some governors are waiting until after the election to step up restrictions.
I think NC should be more restricted, based on current numbers. However, the current governor losing reelection would be disastrous for our covid response. Dan Forest is the worst.

This made me furious. I hate everyone. (I say this at least once a day.)
So furious. Wtf were test results not given before the game? Like the very least you can do as a positive person is quarantine yourself. I get that it sucks to not celebrate with your team but to quote our president it is what it is 🤷🏼♀️

What happened was his test from Monday came back inconclusive. He was tested again on Tuesday, so when that Monday result came back inconclusive on Tuesday, they expedited the processing of Tuesday's test, and that came back positive.
Not excusing his behavior either, but I'm not disagreeing with thelurkylulu about how this was handled. I wish they had told him not to show up for the game at all after his inconclusive test result instead of pulling him out in the NINTH INNING. Still though, it was irresponsible of him to go back out there and not even distance from anyone. I get the argument that the other players were already exposed, but there must have been many people out there who previously were not.

Things are getting so bad now. El Paso is reeling. Newark is basically shut down. A million states have to quarantine if people come visit NY, and of the few states that don't have to, they include places where it isn't practical like NJ, CT, and PA. 5% of North Dakota has tested positive and they're moving covid money to do more fracking.

The state set up a "dial" with various data points and corresponding restrictions and allowances for each of the counties to institute. The governor has a libertarian streak.

We have a dial, and our governor has been really hesitant to turn things back. On Monday he said it's definitely an option, bit not something he's considering given where we are right now. The election isn't an issue here, since he's not up for re-election till 2022.
Honestly I think he's in between a rock and a hard place and won't do anything official unless things get really dire. And I get it.
We're surrounded by states without restrictions. If he dials back, people who want to hit up restaurants and bars that badly are just going to go to Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, or South Dakota, where things are WAY worse. Most places in the state are within a couple hours one of those states - and the places that aren't close aren't following the current restrictions anyway.
Problem is, to me its too late. ND is very red state and people are not going to all of a sudden start wearing them now.
ETA: Some real gems in the article.
"Stephanie Stevens, one of the protesters, said that any decision to wear masks should be left up to people and to businesses who want to require them.
"If you choose to wear a mask, go ahead. But mandating that for every citizen in the city of Bismarck is actually anti-American. We're freedom defenders," Stevens said.
Lisa Klein, who works in health care, said she was at the protest to support a person's freedom to decide what's best for his or her own body."
