Was this mentioned already...? Where are the Capri Suns?
I hardly ever buy juice boxes but went to get some today for our soccer jamboree and the section was almost wiped clean. I got a box of Capri Roarin Waters and some random Kool Aid ones.

I can't find frozen curly fries anywhere. This is so random because they are made from the same potatoes and regular frozen fries are in stock. Maybe the spices can't be acquired? Or the curly fry making equipment broke down and the replacement parts are stuck on a boat?

With shortages, some companies are simplifying their manufacturing by offering fewer SKUs. I wonder if that might be whatās going on?

I havenāt read all 12 pages, however I need to know WHY Coke Zero is now nearly $6/12 pack at my Target and never goes on sale anymore. People, I need Coke Zero!!
I haven't run into much that I personally need and can't get, but a friend who's a coffee roaster here said they're starting to have problems importing raw beans due to the shortage of containers, and costs are way up. I might have to buy kilos and kilos of coffee now before it's too late!
I've been reading articles for the past few weeks or so about how the price of coffee is expected to increase. Apparently there was a frost or two in Brazil this past summer that ruined part of their coffee crop.Ā
Here's one article that I saw on the issue, but I found a lot more through a Google search.
I saw one article that said Starbucks has already purchased enough coffee beans to keep them in coffee beans for the next year. However, others in the industry might be increasing prices soon.
I've been Googling the situation frequently lately because the podcast "It Could Happen Here" from iHeart Media raised the possibility of a coffee shortage a few weeks ago.Ā
Yes! He mentioned this too and how since Brazil is the biggest coffee producer it tends to set the overall market price, so even without the shipping issues the price of coffee beans would be going up.
Is this all the beginning of the end? Or is this truly all related to the pandemic? Some things sound like pandemic, others sounds like global warming.
I think itās a mix honestly. They have been predicting driver shortages for many years. Older drivers are leaving for retirement and no one to replace them. The climate change is being hit hard with the idling and the sober consumption. It is definitely tied in.
Gatorade is finally back in abundance in my area. It's helped so much with DS's weekly nausea after treatment, and with my migraines. Over the past few months it's become a staple in our home, at the same time it became difficult to find.
According to this article from CNN, T.J. Maxx currently does not have certain brands in stock because these brands currently don't have any surplus available to sell to T.J. Maxx.
I did not read the article.
Most brands are not shipping damaged or slightly imperfect items due to cost. I suspect this is going to cause a huge issue for discount retailers.
Iāll seriously be fine as long as I can get diapers and formula š (low standards here )
I hope youāre able to keep finding what you need! The big drama around here in the mom groups is that itās impossible to find certain types of formula, especially specialty formula, in stock. So incredibly stressful for families.

This gives me such anxiety. I donāt have babies but my oldest had to be on Neutramigen when he was a baby and I canāt imagine the worry Id have at being a new mom on top of the worry they would run out of his formula.

Itās heartbreaking. A lot of us kept sample packs of various formulas that got sent to us and we didnāt use so we have been pooling them and people trade those for the ones they need but it isnāt that helpful for Neutramigen and similar because no one really sends samples of those.

This is going to be the case in a lot of industries, and I don't know exactly what the results will be, but I doubt they'll be good: Big companies being able to get what they need at a reasonable price (or close to it), but no one else.
It's already happening in, say, fiber infrastructure. Big telecom companies have multi-year contracts with suppliers that will basically protect them from the worst of shortages. They'll get what they asked for first, when it's available, because they're existing customers with standing contracts that you can sell a lot to at one time. Although even with that in place, AT&T (which claims to be the biggest purchaser of fiber in the U.S.) cut the number of locations that it planned to build out fiber to by something like 200,000 this year, because it couldn't get enough physical fiber.
The little companies, who can't keep something as expensive as fiber sitting around in a warehouse and depend on just-in-time ordering because they don't have a lot of money, most of their work is subsidized by the government and they don't know years in advance which projects will get funded/they'll be able to afford? They'll be fighting over whatever is left and the prices will be crazy, and there will be tons of project delays.
Unfortunately, the $65 billion that the infrastructure bill is about to dump into broadband expansion will likely exacerbate the issue, along with the billions in pandemic relief that have been used or are in the process of being used for broadband projects/equipment/expansion to connect people. Because it means even more companies will be/are trying to buy fiber and all the ancillary equipment for networks, and hire people to do network work, at the same time, with deadlines in the same timeframe.
I think this is going to happen across a lot of industries, and I don't know if some of the small businesses will survive it.

And not to mention how freaking expensive nutramigen is in the first place! What an added stress. Iām so sorry for those families

Our Marshall's and Home Goods have not had anything good since Covid started
My fence guy can't even get suppliers to give him prices for aluminum fence materials. We were hoping to get aluminum for the new sections of fence and gates now, and as the current wood fence needs replacing in the future, replace it all with aluminum. We can't compare wood to aluminum to decide if it is worth waiting for the aluminized, if we can't even get an estimate.
Apparently water meters?! I called to set up water service at my new house. They are out of meters. So Iāll live on the temp water for who knows how long!
We Cat food again! It was back for a month and now itās gone again.
Yes! After stalking local store inventories for weeks and only finding 4-5 pouches at a time we finally set up a recurring order to ship with PetCo. Fingers crossed we'll have better luck with that. I hate paying for shipping but this is the only kind of food our cat will eat.
Ikea was out of so much stuff today. The two main furniture things we needed were out of stock and can't be purchased online. There were tons of empty shelves in the downstairs part.
I think I lamented earlier about not being able to find inexpensive maternity outwear, which is still nowhere to be found, so I ordered a regular one in a bigger size from Costco and got an email the other day that it is delayed. I'm trying to decide at what point I just give up and spend the next few months being cold, because by the time I can probably get a coat I will only have a couple months to go.
I was due the beginning of January (long time ago now), so I wore my husbands coat for Nov/ Dec.
I was in a very minor fender bender at the end of October, but now Iām on a list with no manufacture date for a steering column. It could be months without a car š

I will echo keh2oblue. For as quickly as I got new tires, actual car repair is not looking good.
I hit a deer last night on my way home after dark. Luckily I was going relatively slowly and it was a small deer, so it kind of bounced off rather than going through my window/windshield and the damage to my minivan appears to be limited to my bumper/grill being cracked and slightly askew. The local repair shops are so backed up I can't even get in for an estimate until next week and they're saying not to expect my car to actually be able to go into the shop until January, and of course parts are completely God-only-knows. And the bumper has multiple sensors, so that will get into electronics/sensor availability, not only the physical part itself.
We'll get my car in for an inspection at a different shop on Monday to make sure it's safe to drive and it'll go to the body shop for a repair estimate on Tuesday. We had planned to drive it to Ohio for Thanksgiving, and we may still do it if both those places tell us that it's roadworthy and the bumper's not going to fall off or something.
This was the first time I've ever hit a deer. I circled back and it was down off the road and not moving, so I drove the last three minutes home. We made a police report and when the officer went out to check the deer, there was a buck lying with her and they both got up and ran off, so at least I feel somewhat better that I didn't kill it. And thank God that I didn't have to go to the hospital and my car appears to still be drivable until we can get it fixed, however long that might be.
