I just want to stay up late enough to see Boebert lose, but I'm fading fast.
I don't think they're going to call it tonight. Local news is saying parts of the district will take days to come in and that the later votes are expected to be mostly R.
Basically, he spent the entirety of the campaign time just showing up to things. This district is basically all of the western half of CO which is larger than most eastern states. It's fucking impressive how many miles he put in.
Boebert, on the other hand, thought her national fame as a trump clown would carry her. She drank too much of the koolaid.
The boebert race county by county is also fascinating. Check out cpr’s breakdowns. Most were either/or and not close, but compiled together made it close. This is also where redistricting has hurt an R candidate. They added Pueblo into this district, making it more competitive. ETA: I take that back on the counties, there are a few with big splits but also some like Alamosa that are nearly 50/50.
CFG was spotted by a friend at the Gaylord resort pool a few weeks ago🤢

A bit off the cuff, but I KNOW that the Tories are looking at what happened in the States and thinking about how they might be able to do something about the next election (because right now, they are so far behind in polls, it's not even funny). They are learning from the US and it scares the bejesus out of me.
If it continues, I think this could set up a totally self-defeating dynamic for 2024. Trump will definitely run. IF (which I think is still a big if) Desantis manages to beat him in the primary, can you imagine his reaction? Trump would never, EVER admit that loss or fall in line to tell his supporters to vote for someone else. He will turn on the GOP and everyone seen as not having enough Trump loyalty (pretty much everyone) will be targets of his ire, his whining, his "it was rigged", his crazy followers ... everything that 45 poured on Dems gets directed to the GOP, because no matter how Trumpy they are, if Trump himself isn't in the middle of it, he's going to be furious and uncontrollable.

I am also literally laughing out loud at how pissed off 45 must be at the NY Post cover and the WSJ calling him the "Republican Party's biggest loser." That kind of humiliation is Trumplethinskin's worst nightmare.

And the dirt he probably has on everyone that he's just going to smear all over.
I was over on r/conservative and there is one thread where they're blaming g liberal women for the loss. Because we want the government to take care of us, because we're unmarried because we're unstable, we want the government to pay for our oops babies (despite the fact that we want easily accessible abortions) and on and on. When asked what the Republicans actually offer women, there are crickets.
With that ki nd of misogyny, how can they possibly wonder how women went for the Dems?
cous0226, if you have to remind people that you are a "stable genius" you are probably not one at all. I'd love to see all the broken ketchup bottles at MAL right now.

They were actually under evacuation orders from Hurrican Nicole yesterday. Not that anyone actually paid attention or did what they were supposed to.

Yup he will burn it all down which would help Dems. I am so curious if Desantis wants to get in the fight. He had such a big win that his ego may not be able to sit it out but also we don’t know what kind of fighter he is and if he can take on Trump. I think it would have to be a collaborated effort with Fox News, the red papers and so much more to back him which they’ve started to do.

Trump has been absolutely unhinged on Truth Social for the last few days - not surprising - but this tidbit dropped tonight. This is in reference to DeSantis & his election he won in 2018 by 0.4%, as well as Rick Scott. Whether he's lying about this or not, there was a whole lot of crazy around the 2018 race including the FBI and federal agent involvement, Rudy Giuliani, Proud Boys, etc. There's a real chance it's total bullshit but yikes.

Twitter is a dumpster fire thanks to Elon (edit: well, it always was a hellscape with the ability to access information quickly when needed, but Elon took away the ability for activists to get info out so now it’s just a hellscape) but these are amazing:

CA-41 is going to stay republican - this was our best chance at a good candidate and it just wasn't enough for people to not believe Calvert's talking points about lowering gas prices and helping with inflation (narrator voice: he absolutely voted against it).
