Can someone do a current summary, please? I am at work and falling behind on what's been called. Where are we at the federal level on the house and senate and what key races are we still waiting on?
For senate, waiting on the following:
Alaska - a Republican (either Murkowski or a Trumper) - TBD Georgia - Warnock leading slightly, most likely going to a runoff December 6th Arizona - still counting, Kelly in the lead Nevada - still counting, Laxalt in the lead, but most remaining votes are in Clark County Wisconsin - close to being determined, likely Ron Johnson
WaPo currently says Cortez Masto (D) is "slightly favored" because of this. Fingers crossed.
We're going to get a senator ricketts now, aren't we?
That thought makes me nauseated.
Do we have to? 😤 A friend posted that Ricketts wasn’t scary, but Pillen scares him. I’m very concerned for anyone in our state who does not identify as “Christian, Cornhusker, Conservative.”

I'm in AZ and have never been the slightest bit worried about Mark Kelly winning. In this very purple state, he is probably the most ideal candidate the Dems could ever run.
Oh no - some Democrats in PA voted for the wrong candidate because the Republican on the ballot had the same name as the retiring Democrat (Mike Doyle). Luckily Democrat Summer Lee won anyway and became the first black woman from PA to be elected to the US House.
I'm having a real hard time with the doom and gloom that some people (Ds) are trying to peddle right now. The Ds, for all accounts and purposes did SO much better than they were predicted to do. So so much better. Did we win it all? No. But we were never going to win it all anyway.
I'm excited for 2024. I think we're starting to see what the fractures to the party that Trump started are going to do. While places cycled back to being deep red, I'm optimistic that won't hold for 2024. Especially if DeSantis and Trump start hammering it out to see who can posture as the biggest dictator.
ITA. I’m pleased that Trump-backed candidates, by and large, did poorly yesterday. It gives me some hope for the future. And with wins for reproductive liberty in California, Vermont, Michigan, and Kentucky it’s clear that continuing to push that issue won’t win the GOP any voters.
This is not my district but John James (R) won his US House race by 1600 votes. He ran for Senate in 2020 and lost but tried to have the results overturned. So disappointed that he was elected.

Usually the urban population centers are the last to come in so that’s encouraging. I’m confused about what’s happening in Nevada. They’ve been reliably blue in statewide elections in recent years. Come onnn, Clark County.

They have a shitton of ballots to count from Clark county and it's going to take several days.

I have been madly checking for updates day for WA03. That's my district and I have never had a Dem rep since I moved across the river. My ballot has been received but not processed yet, so I keep telling myself that there are more Perez votes to come. As much as I disagreed with JHB, Kent is a truly vile, disgusting human being who should not hold any office.

Yeah, I’m hoping it’s just a counting delay, which I believe is what happened in 2020 as well.

Elections officials have said that they won’t release the next batch of numbers until 5 pm pst. Hopefully, there will be a huge number of ballots counted then. My ballot is still not showing as accepted though and I dropped it off in the ballot box on 11/7. They are way more behind then usual. The delay is tough in a tight race, but not unexpected.

I appreciate this thread for the blue wins nationwide. It is really easy to feel horrible in Texas. We have bribers, felons, etc. as our elected officials. The GOP is aggressively attacking women and the queer community. And in my area, an insurrectionist was elected to the state board of education for our district seat. She proudly attended January 6 and campaigned with a platform of anti-trans, anti-DEI, anti-"woke," book-banning, anti-vax extremism. She was up against a college and high school dual credit science teacher who was endorsed by the republican incumbent who was redistricted out of his seat. She still won. Here is her page. taketexasback.com/candidate/julie-pickren/ This racist pig is pushing legislation to ban critical race theory from education in Texas.
I am disgusted by my neighbors. They voted for more of that. Fuck them all.
,From what I can tell of the local board or education, we got one good one and one that may be the least bad of the crazy bunch. Dude was very evasive on specifics besides anti-redistricting, and from what I understand was keeping the quiet park quiet. But, at least we didn’t get the one screaming about banning CRT.
I don’t have the heart to read this thread but I am so upset that Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton won. I do will never understand people voting against their own interests and well being. I am just so sick of this chokehold these assholes have on this state.
Also I cannot comprehend how Abbot swept Uvalde county at 68%
All PA House districts have been called, and Dems took the 7th, 8th, and 17th.
Also, the Republicans have taken the PA state senate, but the PA house is still in contention. The race between my state rep and his challenger (Psst: I voted for his challenger) was, at one point, and maybe even now, a difference of 26 votes. Dems have 99 seats now, Reps have 96 seats, and there are 8 undecided, looking like maybe a 50/50 split on those.

I saw a quote that I won't be able to find again that said people aren't voting against their own interests, you're just mistaken about what their interests are. I thought that was probably pretty accurate.

Looks like ME-02 won't be called until next week. No one won a majority, so they have to tally the ranked-choice votes. Golden is still predicted to be the eventual winner.
Ok though real talk: obviously FL is a shitshow but Charlie Crist? Again? Democrats are not sending our best people. This is part of why we lose.
Except Val Demings. She’s absolutely one of our very best, and I’m gutted that she lost to shit pig Marco Rubio. I guess no matter how amazing someone is, if she’s a black woman people still won’t vote for her.
