I'm guessing maybe fewer northern transplants to SC compared to NC and GA? Plus NC and GA have large cities. SC has a few large-ish cities too but I think their state overall is less urban than GA and NC.
Yes, our transplants seem to be more retirees than professionals like those headed to Charlotte, Raleigh or Atlanta. I'm in Charleston, so we are more liberal than the rest of the state but we still can't elect Ds other than one-off unicorns.
Nice anecdata for you - we have older liberal relatives that retired to SC a couple of years ago. Maybe more will follow!
Ok though real talk: obviously FL is a shitshow but Charlie Crist? Again? Democrats are not sending our best people. This is part of why we lose.
We’ve been left behind on our own, with minimal investment from the national party. The GOP have been here, on the ground, for an entire 6 years non stop. Dems? Nowhere. There’s only so much our local candidates or politicians can do without help. Our politics are different, we think and vote differently, we have different stories and experiences. The party strategy, however, has focused on other places. So here we are.

Yup. The dem party in Florida is struggling across the state. I’m sure there are various factors as to why that I don’t know. But. Yeah.
Obviously I don't have answers but the huge margins for DeSantis and Rubio probably have a decent amount to do with everyone that moved to the "free state of Florida" over the last two years. It is really not the case that northerners from blue states will turn FL solidly blue - anecdotally, they're "escaping" liberal blue states in search of MAGA Utopia. And then Latino voters and migration is so multi-faceted and unique there too; there is no such thing as a Latino "bloc" to me in FL when people and/or their ancestors came from so many different countries.
I think any hope for a blue FL in the future lies in quality D candidates (though Demings was a good one, but the R forces are just too strong right now) and homegrown, grassroots organizing with national support ($$$$). They can't depend on blue state transplants; in fact, the D party will need to somehow push back against the winds of blue state in-migration.
Chuck Grassley was reelected in Iowa. He is 89 years old. He will be 95 when his term is over. What the heck?
The whole state makes me “what the heck?”. My only confession is Rob Sand was re-elected as auditor (he’s a dem). God 4 more years of Kim Reynolds. Going to be horrible for women and children.
My metro area is split IL/IA, and I swear, it's mindboggling to me that folks choose to live on the IA side. And yet, most of my coworkers do. (our office is on the IL side, too, which makes me happy)
I am very disappointed in the results in my state of South Carolina. If GA and NC can be a bit purple, why are we just solid red? We re-elected our governor, McMaster, who said less than a month ago that marriage should be between one man and one woman.
Another South Carolinian checking in. I agree. I am especially disappointed in the education superintendent results. I actually had hope there. We need to work to build a strong state party. I live in a pretty populated part of the state and heard nothing from the D candidates for Senate and congress. Cunningham showed up on Sunday, but it’s too little too late. I am hopeful for the country but discouraged for my state.
With 98% of the vote counted in Kansas, ABC news is giving the governorship to Laura Kelly! (She was only a point or so ahead last night, but with most of the remaining votes coming from blue areas.)
Can someone do a current summary, please? I am at work and falling behind on what's been called. Where are we at the federal level on the house and senate and what key races are we still waiting on?

Per CNN, senate is currently 48 D to 49 R with 3 races not yet called: NV, AZ and GA.
Of them, AZ is trending D, NV trending R and GA too close to say.
House is currently 184 D to 202 R-- lots of races still counting.

For senate, waiting on the following:
Alaska - a Republican (either Murkowski or a Trumper) - TBD Georgia - Warnock leading slightly, most likely going to a runoff December 6th Arizona - still counting, Kelly in the lead Nevada - still counting, Laxalt in the lead, but most remaining votes are in Clark County Wisconsin - close to being determined, likely Ron Johnson

Completely agree. The party structure has absolutely failed Florida.
Just a screenshot because I don't want to risk restarting my 30 day countdown on Twitter but I still have everything crossed that this tweet will not age well for Boebert.
There's like 2% to be reported and I am praying that somehow Warnock gets the .6% he needs to clear 50.
Can someone clarify for me the rules? Does Warnock need exactly 50 or does he need like 50.001?
At least 50% but there’s a 3rd Libertarian candidate who got 2% of the vote, so with only 2% left to count, it will likely go to a runoff with neither Warnock or Walker getting 50%.
Also, WTF to the 1.9 million people who want Walker to represent them in the Senate. This is why we don’t deserve nice things!
I’m happy it seems we’re holding the line nationally! I’m devastated about my county and state. And I’m also already annoyed at the inevitable fight about who in our party gets credit for the successes. Already seeing it.
Once again, so many Dem races where the party won in spite of itself. “Not republicans” is the worst party platform. We need to get it together.
I am trying to have this conversation with my (much more conservative but democrats in name right now because they aren’t MAGA folks) college roommates and it’s like banging my head against a wall. THE PARTY HAS MOVED LEFT. WE ARE NOT TRYING TO COURT REPUBLICANS. Why can’t we get exciting candidates out there that people want to vote for?!
