I would not be surprised if they haven’t spoken since the day he left office. From what I understand she had divorced papers prepared for when he lost in 2016 and it didn’t pan out. I would guess that they’re separated and have been for years without announcing it:

He can pardon himself on the federal charges. That wouldn’t help him if he ended up in prison on state charges, though. But yes, technically, he can be president in prison. And we would be the laughingstock of the world.

There are no guidelines on any of this, because pre-2016, I don’t think anyone could have fathomed that someone like him could end up in office. Alas, here we are.

Yep.  He would have to take the oath of office in prison.  Then his first act would be to pardon himself and he would walk out the prison gates at 12:01.

Actually, I bet they would put him on home arrest with an ankle monitor.  Otherwise, he would have to run his transition from prison.  Could you just imagine, all the candidates for his cabinet would have meet him in prison and be interviewed through a plastic partition.  Holy shit, what a laughing stock we would be.

Remember when Trump took office and she stayed back in NYC until Barron finished the school year?  There was speculation then that she was negotiating a post-nuptial agreement.  I bet she got a huge bump in her divorce settlement for staying with him through his term in office.  I bet she assumed she would be free to leave by 2024.  This little 4-year gap between terms really threw a wrench in her plans.  So yeah, I bet she rarely speaks to him, except when they negotiate a rare appearance together in the dining room.

Exactly. And I would easily believe that she genuinely has no clue about all the illegal crap because they never pretended their marriage was about love or a partnership. They publicly loath each other and I think the relationship is even worse in private. So she I’m sure was both unaware and unsurprised by all of this.

So I am suffering through the Christie town hall so you all don't have too. He thinks Trump kept the boxes to show off and laughed at the idea of him selling documents and using them for bad purposes. I've heard the vanity reason by people in the media and other politicians. I don't know why all of these dummies don't think he is capable of blackmail, selling the documents, using them to get info and etc. Is that really beneath him? Seriously. He also said that Jack Smith showed us a 1/3 of the indictment because he had to for public interest. He said there is so much more that we don't know. I can't wait for all the bad shit to come out and these dummies to be proven very wrong.

One thing I don’t understand is why in the two years of a D controlled Congress, Biden & Co didn’t do anything to make it harder for Dump to run again. From what you all have been saying, he can win, pardon himself, and then continue to wreak havoc on the country…..again. Is my thinking too simplistic? Could anything have been done?

MSNBC has a lawyer who was there during some of the Grand Jury stuff, and he's saying that the whole thing could be overturned because of prosecutorial misconduct. He's also obviously pro-Trump.

ETA: Circling back, apparently this has already been discussed in court and went all the way up to the Circuit court who ruled that nothing happened.

What do you imagine they could've done that would've gotten 10 Republican votes in the Senate to pass? They had a single vote majority only because the VP acts as tiebreaker and most things need 60 votes.

I hope that his stain follows every single R who fell into line behind him and defended his actions for which (hopefully) will be found guilty in a court of law. Let that shit follow them FOREVER. Every election. Play their words over and over, and if they push back, reply "if you're the party of law and order, and the law has spoken..."
Don't let them dance around the question, or "move beyond this," hold them ACCOUNTABLE for their actions in defending him. Sure, lets' move beyond this shitshow, but not before we fully acknowledge the individuals who facilitated it, and strip them of power.

Yesterday Nikki Haley said her husband serves in the military and what trump did is very reckless. Today she says she’ll pardon him. They are all so awful.
