Especially considering that the info about the navy ship picking up the sound wasn’t openly released until today (unless he had some kind of inside source?).

My H and I were talking about this the other day. With all of the tech listening to the waters, we were wondering if something would surface (absolutely no pun intended) that would turn out to be the implosion.

Someone was like "well they might have heard cracking" and the response was basically at that depth the pressure is so great that they didnt even hear cracking, they literally were poofed without warning. Which would be my preferred way to go if I was in this situation.

Oh definitely in SCUBA. But I just snorkel. Floating on top, highly buoyant in general, and its salty water. I ain’t dropping anywhere. Just my own brain playing trick on its logical half.

Yeah, that seems like fat shaming from Jimmy C, there, which is no surprise. Of course, one reason I loved Kate Winslet in 1997 was her relatively normal-proportioned body, which teenage me could identify with. I still love her.

One of the comments said that next to going in your sleep, this was his preferred method of death.  Instantaneous; no pain.

James Cameron said that he was told that Titan "had dropped their ascent weights and they were coming up, trying to manage an emergency.” Assuming that's true--and he does seem to have pretty good sources--they had enough time to know something was wrong and someone took action before the actual failure happened. So maybe not quite "without warning," unfortunately.

I gather from the news conference that the on-site vehicles will "document the scene", meaning there will be photo and video evidence of the wreckage. That's not going to be an option here, I can't imagine that they will bring anything back to the surface. 

My guess is that any attempt at reconstruction of events is probably going to be related to legal action, where they will have depositions/testimony under oath from employees/people who were on the surface boat and will be required to say on the record their recollection of what happened. 

Just read an article that says the Canadian Transportation Board is going to investigate! I still wonder what information is going to come from it.
