This weekend I bought 4 chairs for my late-night library. All used from FB marketplace. A mish-mash of styles and colors. I am IN LOVE with how it's all coming together!
Question for you all: I need 2-3 more. So far, all have been arm chairs. Should the rest have arms, or do you think I should get at least one that doesn't have arms? Something like this:
ETA: I also have a couch, a loveseat, and a bench.
lust2hart, I would do some armless just in case someone may not be comfortable in a chair with arms due to size or shape. Sometimes I like to sit with one leg bent and that's harder with an arm chair.
I'm still really mad about something that happened this weekend. XH signed C up for softball in the city where he lives, which is fine. Saturday was opening day for both softball and baseball. The baseball players (99% boys) got to march through the entire city in a parade led by police and fire, live bands, etc. The softball players (100% girls) had to wait until 4:00 when the boys were done, and their opening ceremony consisted of a recording playing the national anthem and the mayor's wife throwing out the first pitch.
What do you use on your cuticles (well maybe cuticles isn't the right word) The skin around the whole perimeter of your finger nails. My fingers have so many little hangnails right now. During the winter, I use O'keefes on my dry hands, but wondering if there is a good product specifically to decrease hangnails.
I would think arms would be most comfortable for the majority of people if they want to lounge and read. I feel like you have to basically sit up straight without arms to lean against. But definitely having a chair or two that is extra wide would be a good idea to accommodate sizes.
I booked appointments with a travel clinic to get a typhoid vaccine today before our upcoming trip, then thankfully called to ask about pricing. For myself and my H to get these vaccines would be just over $700. Um, I think we'll roll the dice on that one. Or maybe I'll call our doctor and ask if they do them, I guess. We both got that before we went to Thailand 7 years ago and I'm pretty sure they were covered by insurance, but we also both worked at a university with a hospital at that time.
I am 95% sure I saw a coyote in my neighborhood last night. I just caught its back legs and tail before it disappeared, but it was the right size and tail shape. I know they are around but I didn't really expect one in our neighborhood. That makes me a little nervous with a small dog, especially since I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to pet health and we're going on vacation in 3 weeks so I'll have to trust a dog sitter not to let him get eaten by coyotes. He does get pretty barky around other dogs so hopefully that would scare it off? He was in the middle of pooping when I saw it so he didn't notice this one.

lust2hart, I'd do some armless chairs, just to be more size inclusive.
FI takes his second final this afternoon and then he's done with class. I took my final yesterday and failed it, as did most of my classmates. We're all hoping the prof curves. Regardless, I did pass the class though. I'm still so irritated with this class situation and how we were set up to fail.
My mom is on her way to visit my sister and then she'll visit us Friday and Saturday. She informed me that my test inconvenienced her because she would have preferred to visit me first. Uhh so sorry? She has a tendency to make everything about her and it's definitely gotten old.
lust2hart, options are good. My biggest concern about chairs is the angle of the back. Chairs that angle backward slightly seem to be very trendy right now, but I find those super uncomfortable.
Yesterday I took one of my dogs to a photo session where the dogs were sprinkled with colored powder and photographed going over a jump to create a cloud effect. I'm going through my proofs and I don't know how to choose! Several of my friends took their dogs as well, so we're all distracted this morning with our cute dogs.
I finished the draft of my master's thesis and my presentation slides this weekend. Please baby jesus let my advisor be fine with it so I can breathe for a few weeks, lol. I think I may start an MBA program in the fall but I'd like to have at least one day I'm not stressing over something before graduation.

tennisgal they sell cuticle oil in the nail section of most stores. I would try that.
I don't know if we are the AH but my SIL is organizing a cemetary ceremony, with a priest, for her 12-week old miscarriage. I heard they will be spreading some ashes? Anyway, we have swimming lessons for our kids during that time and we decided our kids and us will go to swimming lessons. I understand their pain but I don't think we need to be there.

DS had his first baseball tournament of the season over the weekend. DS and his team won the tournament championship. (There were only 4 teams total in their age group, but it was still a nice start to the season.) DS and a teammate collided trying to catch a foul ball towards the end of the championship game, and for about 20 seconds I was terrified that they were both seriously hurt, but after about 20 seconds, they started to get up and both said they were good and able to keep playing.
MIL seems to be acting a bit strange. Usually she likes to come to at least one game during a tournament when it's in our city (the baseball complex is maybe a mile or less from her apartment), but was MIA on Saturday. When she finally responded to my text asking her if everything was ok, she said that she decided not to come due to weather (the forecast was iffy, but Saturday the weather was fine, just windy) and she was "up all night vomiting." (That is her go-to-excuse when she doesn't want to do something.) She never asked about game times on Sunday, and the weather was actually forecast for rain and thunderstorms, so I didn't even bother to mention Sunday games to her. DS has another tournament this weekend at the same location, but I'll let DH decide if he wants to let his mom know about it or not.

Whoops, just realized I forgot DS's ADHD meds this morning; luckily it's not a state testing day. A week away and I am all sorts of out of practice with the regular routine.
I was hoping to take Friday off, but I have so much work to get through. And yet here I am....
Well our upstairs HVAC that we just had repaired 2 weeks ago decided to not work yesterday when I turned it back on. So someone is supposed to be out between 1 and 4 and I had a bunch of windows open and fan ons early this morning when it was cool.

I've found that using a little bit of Kerasal cracked foot ointment around my cuticles at night really helps heal and get rid of hangnails. You only need a small amount, then top with some good hand cream. During the day, use cuticle oil to help keep them hydrated. I like the pens, because they're convenient- I keep one in my purse, desk, near the kitchen sink, in my car (not in the summer/hot weather). I try to remember to use it after every handwashing. I buy the refillable ones on Amazon and just use Jojoba oil to fill them. (I got a big bottle on amazon and it's lasted me years)
Also just try not to pick at them. It just makes them worse and then they grow back thicker.
After two days of mostly drizzly rain, we had the most beautiful day in London today! We walked 8+ miles and just had a drink in a pub where we chatted with two local men about global politics and other random things lol We asked about a good day trip and they strongly recommended Brighton so we’ll be doing that tomorrow because it looks like the best day weather-wise. I’m so excited to see some countryside by train.

Please, we need to see these!
It's going to be a while before I get the final edited images, but this is from her website
I'm taking it easy today! I'm still sore from all of that yard work (I thought I was in way better shape than this) and I just started a monster period. So, I'm just going to do some more light yard work, head to Lowes and then the grocery store.
We're painting our front door and I'm overwhelmed by all of the color choices because I love so many of them. I think I'm going to go with a safe dark blue-green. All of these ideas are snowballing and now I want to paint my house, completely redo the backyard, and our fence is kind old, etc. etc. lol
I know it's technically April still but it definitely feels like we've already entered the busy month of May season for sure. We have baseball 5 days this week, plus I have some other appointments, plus homework and teacher appreciation week activities, it's not going to be relaxing whatsoever lol. At least this year, my H is not a high school principal anymore so he doesn't have as many of the mandatory "end of school year" activities to attend and can help me out more with stuff.
I'm struggling with some anxiety this morning. DS has been a little challenging as of late. I almost made my own post about it for people's thoughts but then I held off. He's always been kind of extra but now I am starting to wonder if something else is at play, like ADHD or some other neurodivergence, or maybe he's just a typical 7.5 year old boy that needs more coping strategies and I'm not parenting him well (I know I get frustrated and yell too much, etc). I don't know. His peer relationships seem OK overall but he seems to be struggling with keeping his hands to himself (more so than other kids), and he is so bothered by other kids behavior and what they are doing, and cannot take a joke at all. Someone is always aggrieving him in some way and he can't seem to let things roll off his back. He also gets more angry than situations call for (but calms down very quickly, like he's not having tantrums or anything). But then sometimes he's incredibly sweet and awesome, so I don't know if he's like this because he is tired or hungry or its late in the school year and he's just done, or if really something more is going on. I just feel like there are so many things that we have to tell him not to do, that should be a given at this point. Teaching someone to act like a human is a lot more challenging than I thought it would be.

lust2hart I prefer chairs without arms, so I vote that you get at least a couple.
My daughter and I busted our butts this weekend to clean out the garage and start setting up the home gym out there. My Peloton was in the basement and worked fine, but some how when moving it, the power wires for the monitor stopped working. I ordered the part and it's supposed to be a "member friendly" repair, which is fine, but I already miss riding my bike

The body balm that I make. #nothelpful. Look for any nail oil that is high in either jojoba oil or sunflower oil (high oelic if it's listed is best). If you use it daily you should start seeing improvement in a few weeks.
Mil has breast cancer 98% of her appointments, dr visit, follow up etc are falling on my H and myself. Fine. She had her second chemo last week and he told the PA she is not taking the anti nausea medication and she confirmed this(sorry she took it one time). PA stressed why to take it etc.
Yesterday we find out again she took one dose and “does not like it” but can’t tell us what she does not like.
Sigh. Then we found out she told son 4 that H and son 3 are “being to hard in her” about taking the meds.
Lady I am done. I will be happy to not run errands for you anymore or take more PTO for your appointments. Do not tell me ever again how you are not feeling well. I have tried to give her grace but no more.
It's sunny!! And warm!! I've been waiting for this weather! I mean I'm working in my office but still - it gives me hope LOL
My stepson and his husband just got a new house and we took kid over to see it yesterday because H was going to help with some flooring and blinds and such. She said to me that she really liked the spare bedroom and added that she thought that was good because that would be her bedroom is H and I die before she's 18 because she knows they're listed as her guardians if that happens. I was like Ok, but also WTF kid LOL
Also, H's ex MIL was over there when we were there and she HATES my H and also me by proxy and it's SO stupid!! She will straight up ignore us when in the same location. We have an awesome relationship with his ex wife so I don't really care but it's just so weird. Like I get why she would have feelings about H but I wasn't in the picture until after they had been divorced for like 3 or 4 years.
I have a really light week this week and I'm so glad for that!!
$62 per person for a Mother's Day brunch that doesn't include alcohol is ridiculous right? We're basically MCOL.
Like, who is going to eat that much food?
The one we usually go to is $100pp and I just couldn't bring myself to book it this year. It's too much money because you also need to valet, then alcohol, tip, etc. We booked a Brazilian steakhouse that's not doing a MD brunch, just their normal dinner menu and it will be much less. And David will eat enough for the three of us, lol.

Mother's Day brunch is such a racket and not particularly enjoyable to me. I do cocktails/apps with my mom friends in the afternoon instead while the kids stay home with the dads.

bex1973 that is so odd of his ex MIL, especially since his XW has no issue with you two and you had nothing to do with the marriage ending! I know that if STBX stays with the woman he cheated with and she's eventually around DD, it's going to be tough for me to be friendly to her, but I'll at least be civil for DD and over time I would be less chilly.
I'm on pins and needles right now because my new home situation is kind of up in the air. After our offer was accepted on the first place, when our attorney was reviewing the HOA rules it turned out there was an issue with my dad being the owner and renting to me temporarily until I buy it from him after the divorce is final. The attorney contacted the HOA to ask for an exception based on the circumstance and we still haven't heard back. The P&S is supposed to be signed by 6pm today. We can request an extension on that, but over the weekend I went to see another place and actually think I may prefer it, despite it being smaller and less updated. It has a nice deck and yard, which the first townhouse does not, and it's 45K less even with our over-asking offer and there is no HOA monthly fee. The offers were due today by 2pm, but yesterday the realtor said they had so many offers that they were probably going to look at them last night, so we sent in our offer, but we've heard nothing yet one way or the other. He said he had 3 offers over asking but none are a cash buyer like us. As of right now our attorney still hasn't heard back from the HOA at the first place, which is a good thing if the second offer does get accepted because then we can just back out of the first one. The worst case scenario today is our offer getting turned down on the second place and then the HOA denying our request on the first place, so I'd be back to square one! Although, my divorce attorney said that if the HOA won't budge, there may be something she can work out with STBX's attorney to have him sign that if my dad has to put my name on the deed, he will not come after it as one of our assets. I trust that he wouldn't but we would obviously need something signed, but I don't think my dad even trusts that.

It really is!! It's up there with Valentine's Day for me with how restaurants handle it. Really I'd just rather relax kid-free (but don't tell DD that lol, she's alllll about Mother's and Father's day!)

Yeah, I'm heading in this direction. As my kid is now 15, the novelty has worn off, lol. I still want mimosas though!
