I just checked because I was curious, but Mark Kelly is only 8 months older than Harris. He’s 60, she is 59. For some reason I thought he was way older.

I don’t doubt really did think he’d continue to be the nominee until recently, but the DNC really did need to hold the line in an official capacity. They couldn’t pull the rug out from under him after the debate and be like, “meh, well, we’ll see.” Fake it til you make it. Or something. Anyway, I’m sure this was their contingency plan.

Didn’t others notice that about the middle of last week, the constant barrage of emails switched from Biden to the party? I took that as foreshadowing.

edit, what I mean is they went from being “from” Biden and Biden headers to from the party. Still supporting him, but the “from” line changed.

I would be shocked if Trump agrees to a debate with VP Harris.

I’m looking forward to having a candidate who can actually campaign and do interviews and town halls and doesn’t have to only do carefully selected events to minimize damage.

I agree it's insane but I'm enjoying entertaining multiple possibilities, all of which are some version of a better chance of beating Trump.

So this is a group of never Trumpers? Prior to right now, I didn't know this existed as a formal group. I also don't know much about politics beyond a middle school level at best. 

It sounds like they're already voting for "anyone but TFG" so they don't also need her on the ticket. Plus it sounds like a plot straight out of a "Mean Girls" genre movie.

I’m actually really excited about Mark Kelly as an option. BUT would that mean he has to withdraw from the senate run in AZ? We need as many strong blue down ballot votes as possible.

I do think it needs to be a white dude. Too many racist misogynist union workers voted for Trump because he wasn’t Hillary Clinton. We need at least some of their votes.

We need all Black sorority sisters to come out and start working their networks to get friends and family to the polls! I’m going to the AKA debutante ball in a couple weeks and expect them to be fired up about Harris! I know Black women have been carrying the load too long but there are too many Sabrina Joys in the suburbs this year and they need to be out numbered!

Mark Kelly isn’t up for reelection this cycle, it’s Sinema’s seat. Ruben Gallego is the D candidate. The Democratic governor would appoint a senator until there is a special election.

Do you feel this? This is HOPE. This is the energy we need to win an election.

We don’t need time: Most countries do their elections in far less time than us.We don’t rely on the Pony Express for information anymore. The announcement is less than 12 hours old, and I’m guessing a solid 90% of potential actual voters already know.

We just have to hope that the quick support from so many in the party deters anyone else from running. (Off to see what Dean Phillips is saying…)

I have Covid so I’ve been in bed all day and seeing what is on Instagram and TikTok. There’s definitely a lot of excitement and hope that we have not seen this election cycle! I’m sure the racist trolls are already out but it feels good to have a candidate like Kamala who would roast any MAGAT in a debate and people are proud to say they support publicly.

#BratSummer is a CharlieXCX phrase that is trending but there already remixes of her songs with Kamala’s coconut tree quote (which can be interpreted different ways) and comments about meme’ing Kamala into the presidency prior to talk of Biden stepping down. There’s videos of her saying how much she loves GenZ and GenZ seems to love her back for the most part. Her adult @stepdaughter is GenZ and her @stepson is a young millennial. There’s criticism saying we haven’t seen her for 3.5 years or that all they see is videos of her laughing or dancing, and she’s not serious enough, but there’s plenty that prove the opposite. Critics and trolls will never be happy and will find fault with her no matter what, and also complained about Biden being too old.

When you read the article, it’s not as exciting as it sounds. It looks like they just changed their name from “for Biden” to “for Kamala.”

However, we know most people only read headlines and not articles anyway…and EVERY endorsement and vote is important, so I’m happy to see it!
