When you read the article, it’s not as exciting as it sounds. It looks like they just changed their name from “for Biden” to “for Kamala.”
However, we know most people only read headlines and not articles anyway…and EVERY endorsement and vote is important, so I’m happy to see it!
I did read the article and missed anything about Biden, just about Haley. Whatever, it's still hilarious
Agreed! Great to see!
I didn’t read that exact link, so they must have left it out. I guess I read a different article that included it. I hope the one that doesn’t include it gets more attention as it’ll make Republicans even more scared. I can’t imagine the panic they’re feeling as they see the Democrats doing anything but falling apart in the first hours after the announcement.
It could have been mass chaos, but we’re off to a good start!
I think Kamala will win swing states and “undecided” voters by making the messaging about voting FOR HER instead of AGAINST Trump. She has a LOT to offer. The Never Trumpers are already hers. We all know how awful Trump is. Now we need to change the messaging to how amazing she is!
I’m actually really excited about Mark Kelly as an option. BUT would that mean he has to withdraw from the senate run in AZ? We need as many strong blue down ballot votes as possible.
I do think it needs to be a white dude. Too many racist misogynist union workers voted for Trump because he wasn’t Hillary Clinton. We need at least some of their votes.
We need all Black sorority sisters to come out and start working their networks to get friends and family to the polls! I’m going to the AKA debutante ball in a couple weeks and expect them to be fired up about Harris! I know Black women have been carrying the load too long but there are too many Sabrina Joys in the suburbs this year and they need to be out numbered!
Yes, Black women have always carried the party. They were leading the fight when it was Joe, too. But there was an organizing Zoom call last night for Black women with 40,000 people on it and they raised $1 million in an hour.

Ok I didn’t think it would be this "easy." From the other posts calling for him to resign it made it sound like it would be definite chaos or legal challenges to having a new candidate like this. I’m very relieved to see that it really can just be Harris the nominee and we move on.

Me too.
I have never been so delighted to be wrong in my LIFE.

Agreed. The momentum is exciting and making me feel truly hopeful.
I woke up thinking there’s a huge possibility we will elect a woman, a WOC, for the highest office in the country.
It gives me all the feels. I’m hopeful.
I think the Trump camp is freaking the fuck out. Hope they can get their money back for the FJB merch. 😂😂😂😂😂
I honestly haven’t felt this hopeful about the country and future since Obama won his first election in 2008!
Now we just need to keep this momentum going until November. It might actually be a good thing that it’s so late in the game. People might still be EXCITED.

I agree.
I waited in line for something like 7 hours to vote for Obama in Florida in the 2008 election. It was hot but no one was grumpy, just super excited to be a part of history. A bunch of us ordered pizzas and the energy was incredible.
I feel that way now. I live in Illinois now and have never waited longer than 10 minutes to vote because my polling station is quiet, but I feel that same level of excitement right now just sitting on my couch.

Mark Kelly isn’t up for reelection this cycle, it’s Sinema’s seat. Ruben Gallego is the D candidate. The Democratic governor would appoint a senator until there is a special election.
Asked a friend who is a bit connected (works state level d campaigns) from the last presidental election cycle about Kelly as a possible vp pick. He is guessing that vp pick will come within a week so this limits who they can vet and guessing top 2 who have already been kind of prevetted are Buttigeg and Shapiro but hopes Kelly is up there too.

That’s the only article I’ve read. And it says pretty early in the article the name of the PAC was “Haley voters for Biden.”

If you haven't yet, make sure you email/call your Democratic reps and Senators and urge them to endorse Harris ASAP. I'd like us to minimize the risk of a party civil war that tanks us. No candidate will get everyone's endorsement and there will always be holdouts, but if we have a general consensus, that makes the next few months much easier.
I was totally catastrophizing until reading here and listening to Heather Cox Richardson’s video that was posted. I feel so much better. I feel hopeful and excited! I truly think we can do this.

There wouldn’t be a special election, the appointment would run for the remainder of Kelly’s term which ends in 2028. So if he’s tapped for VP, in the event that they don’t win, Kelly can run for the seat again when it comes up. He is a super strong unicorn Democrat candidate, he can hold the seat for the rest of his life if he wants. He’s AZ’s new John McCain.
I think the VP will be either him or Shapiro, Pete doesn’t have ties to a swing state/region that we need. Although the idea of Pete debating JD makes me lollllllll.
Also (assuming Harris becomes the nominee) I'm *really* looking forward to the next debate.
When is the next debate?
Also - will this make folks take down their Let's Go Brandon flags? We saw one at the campground yesterday 🤮
No, those are a part of a lifestyle and identity at this point. Like Dale Earnhardt t-shirts and Bro-dozer trucks. They will never see a time when it’s not a good idea to give Biden the ol’ eff you.
This is one of those things that isn't going to be settled within the next couple of months. It's going to be like Trump's hush money case, where it's going to take years to untangle.

I'm not worried. If worse comes to worst, the Biden campaign absolutely has the legal authority to give all the money to an Elect Kamala Harris SuperPAC chaired by her close allies. Thanks, Citizens United!

It's exactly the same link already posted on the first page of the thread, and in the third paragraph it says they changed their name from "Haley Voters for Biden" to "...for Harris".
Nikki Haley is not herself supporting Kamala or becoming the VP pick, guys!
